Prob same reason my 03 sls does, bad crankshaft positioning sensor, but only one problem, there are 2 of them so you have to replace both, i thought i had bad gas ,becuase check engine light wasnt staying on, but that wasnt the case. Good luck.

It is possible that your coolant temp. sensor isn't functioning properly. This will tell the engine to rev higher until the coolant is warmer. Is the check engine light coming on? Several sensors can contribute to this. Bad spark plugs can also contribute to this problem. Excessive carbon buildup around your throttle plate area can cause bad idling also. open hood you should see filter on left side of engine(passenger side) near oil filter,it is black in color,. disconnect battery and make sure ground to battery cant flip back and spark to neg post on battery. there is a clamp with one bolt hold the fuel filter in position,BUT before you undo clamp carefully squeeze the 2 fuel line connectors BY HAND (do not use pliers) and remove hoses,be ready for some fuel spillage ,then undo clamp and slide out old filter,when putting in new one it has an arrow on it ,it should point toward the engine (not physically)but fuel flow wise. then istall bolt snap back on both hoses and reinstall neg, battery cable.crank engine and check for leaks.
