had this problem once in a sedan. The engine oil had not been changed for a long time and had turned to sludge. Sounded like crap to me because when you pulled out the dip stick it looked ok. After oil and filter was changed it started and ran fine!
How do you test an automotive coil.?
Get an inline spark checker. (Harbor Frieght for a couple bucks) Put this between the spark plug and wire and check the spark. If it is a bright sprk light then it is oky. Try this with all the plugs. If you are getting spark in the tester then your coil is good. If you run across a plug that doesnt fire then change it then recheck it. Brad.
i was told buy Ricky Stator
for my 2000 Yamaha 350 warrior and i think its the same for yours is
green to brown=300 ohms
red to white=500 ohms
its your stator, i had the same problem !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
check the engine ground cable at the right front of the motor (pass front), it goes from the alternator to the vehicle body
the ignition control module is getting hot and shutting down take it off and have it tested at any auto parts store its free to test
Two things, the fuel filter and most vecihles have two pumps one in the front and the one in the tank.

How do you troubleshoot for a 2002 Ford Escape that won't start?
That is a wide open question, but I will give it a shot. Does the engine turn over? If not, check the battery, the cables, the connections, the starter relay, the starter motor. Make sure you have a programed key and not a copy. If the engine turns over... check the fuses for your fuel pump and ignition. Pull out a plug to make sure if you are getting gas, (plug should be very wet and smell like gas). If it is dry, check your fuel pressure, and voltage to the fuel pump, and your fuel lines and filter. Use a scan tool to check your engine for codes. If your check engine light came on while you were driving it, the computer could go to limp home mode, and allow the engine to run on default perameters until you turn it off. Then it won't start. Your cam or crank position sensors going bad could cause this. The other element you need is compression. If plumes of smoke were coming out your engine and you ignored it until it would no longer start, this is probably your problem and requires major engine repair. Check for water or gas in your oil, that is also a good indication of a serious problem. You need spark, fuel, and compression, at the right mixture and timing to make an engine run, that is the basic start for troubleshooting.
Do you have a wiring diagram for a gm points distributor system?
A wiring diagram for GM points distributor system can be found in online forums. They can also be found in the car part repair manual.
Cylinder 4 Misfire on a 3.4 engine?
it could be as minor as a tune up (spark plugs and wires)(or bad distributor coil pack). or possibly a faulty fuel injector.
1986 Jeep Cherokee 2.8l won't start even pouring gas in carburetor?

91 lebaron overheated cracked radiator now hard to crank?
Headgasket or head may have gone bad and hydrolically locked the motor.
Sounds like you've got a couple of blown fuses. Check in particular the ECM start fuse in the fuse box inside the car on the drives sided kick panel. It should be a red 10 amp fuse.
Also, we have this car and at times, when the oil level gets too low, it will turn but not start. Adding oil and pumping the gas while starting always gets it going again.
you should also replace condensor. but if you have no power to coil, u will not have power to anywhere else check for broken wire or bad connections also check fuses
The fuel filter is more than likely clogged with debris picked up from the bottom of the tank when you ran out of fuel. A partially clogged fuel filter will burn out your fuel pump in short order. Purchase a can of starter fluid and a new fuel filter for you Jeep. Install the new filter and use the starter fluid to get it started.
Can you start your car by crossing the solenoid of the starter?
If the key is on and the shift is in park you can safely start the unit by engaging the solenoid with a short jumper wire.
Why won't 86 escort start plugs aren't firing?
Could be a bad ignition coil
Could be a bad distributor cap or rotor
Will not start in morning unless you use gas pedal?
If vehicle has a carb. (not fuel injected) a normal condition. When you step on the gas pedal the automatic choke is forced to close allowing a richer fuel mixture so the vehicle will start .
Can you start your vehicle at the starter if you have a breathalyzer on it?
Apparently blunt doesn't work here, so I'll try again with more tact.
The reason it wont start is the breathalyzer is a safety lockout device mandated by the courts to keep repeat offenders from killing someone while driving drunk, but still giving them a chance to be a productive member of society.
Can you do it? Probably Not, the lockout will work the way an alarm system will by disabling the cars computer if the driver has alcohol on their breath, that is why even if you clip the wires to the alarm horn unless you remove the wiring harnesses running in and out of the alarm the car will not start. Aside form whether or not you can, the better question is should you.
If you are caught tampering with a breathylzer lockout in order to drive drunk, you will most likely lose you driving prvileges permanently, and rightly so.
Now, if the question is whether or not you can short the posts on a starter solenoid to bypass the breathalyzer if its malfunctioning and you are not trying to skirt the law; no, for the same reason above. If it is malfunctioning, the shop that installed it will probably fix it so it will work as it is designed.
Locate spark plugs on 1999 Chrysler 300m?

Why wont a car start but if the drivers door is opened for a few minutes it will start?
That just sounds like a coincidence that the door is open. look into something else.
If the care is carburated, I would suspect the carburater setup. If not, I'm afraid I'd need a little more information. This sounds like an interesting puzzle.
If you would like you can send more details to:

We can discuss it.
Starter motors vary in specific location on different models and makes of vehicles. There is, however, one constant. In every case, the starter connects thru a heavy cable either directly to the battery or to a starter solonoid in the engine compartment that is, itself, connected directly to the battery. Find the biggest (usually RED) B+ cable and follow it to the Starter. If it terminates on a starter solonoid, follow the cable on the other side of the solonoid to the starter.
