2002 Chevy blazer flashing check engine light?

A flashing "check engine" light typically means that the computer has detected a serious problem and you should take care of it immediately.

You'll need a diagnostic scanner to find out what's wrong. They are typically available at most auto parts retailers. Depending on where you go, they'll often help you plug in the scanner and figure out what it means.

What does the 'service engine soon' light mean?

Check your manual if you have it (or you might be able to find it on the manufacturer's website). Otherwise, you can take it to local repair shops or some auto parts stores, and they can take a look or run a diagnostic if your car has a CPU. It's usually wise not to ignore it though. Good luck!

Check engine light on 2001 Chevy Prizm came on while driving down the road?

I have a 2001 Chevy Prizm and the reason the engine light turns on while driving is because you could have an emmisions* problem. It is not bad at all and can not harm your car. If you would like to fix this don't waste your time. It is basicly like paying around $200 to turn off a light on your dash board that does not harm your car or the envierment*.

AnswerNothing new. I read from the Internet, somebody said that simply disconnect the battery for couple of minites, then re-connect it. It should work. I just did it, and it stayed off so far. Answertry filling your washer fluid, if that is empty it will turn the light on also. you might also want to check your fluids just in case. I had problems with my check engine light on my 2001 though and it has been my rear main seal, my cat.converter, my PCV,my ac condensor, my rank posistion sensor, and my washer fluid. put a peice of electrical tape on it and sell your car while it still runs... ) AnswerRecently had Check Engine light problem. Took it to the dealer two times, they couldn't figure it out. The Check Engine light would come and go. Tried disconnecting the battery cables to "reset" the computer. It cleared it up for a while, but still came back. Seems to come back after driving at highway speeds. Dealer replaced spark plug, fuel filter. I replaced PVC valve and Air Filter. Also tried "RXP" gas treatments. None of those fixed the problem. Last time the light came on again, I tried filling my tank with 93 Octane gasoline...light turned off 5 minutes later. Next tank I filled it up with regular gasoline, and the engine light remained off. I replaced the gas cap but the Check Engine light would come back eventually. I took car to Autozone and had them read the computer code it pointed to the Mass Airflow Sensor. I bought a spray can of Electronic Contact Cleaner (make sure you buy one that is safe for use on plastics). I removed the MAS and sprayed the inside, and let it dry. The engine light has not come on since, and the car does not run rough or hesitate like it did before.

Answer

Did you mess with the air filter? Make sure you sealed the Air Filter Assembly cover properly. I got the check engine on while driving and had done two things the day before. Refuelled with 87 octane. Checked if the air filter was dirty. I checked the fuel cap. I checked the air filter assembly and realized i hadent sealed it properly. I sealed it and after 30 mins of driving, the light turned itself off. Mine is a Chevy Prizm 2000. Done 105K.

ANSWER:

I had this problem for about 5 years and finally a Toyota dealership recommended cleaning the mass air flow sensor. After they did this the light never came back on and the car actually ran much better. It's been about 1 year now and the problem has not come back.

If a 1996 Camaro runs rough and cuts off at weird times and whenever you stop at a red light or try to idle and the service engine soon lights stays on and blinks at high revs what is wrong?

the ses light flashing indicates a "catalist damaging misfire". basically telling you to avoid further damage, Stop what you are doing. form the basic sounds of your problem I would first start be checking DTC's check the ignition system plugs, wires, cylinder ballance test, and check the fuel system, fuel pressure and flow, fuel filter, injector ballance test.

::: EDIT :::

ok before you do all that do yourself a favor you'll save a huge headache and alot of time and probably money too. its a quick 10-20 mins max way to rule out a common issue.

first let the car warm up a little (190 degrees or more)

next locate the plug for the mass airflow sensor and disconnect it (on the throttle body two bolts positioned from eachother, wide flat harness)

start the engine and go for a drive if you notice any sort of improvement replace or at least clean the mass airflow sensor.

basically what this does is bypasses the sensor and makes the computer adjust air, fuel, timing, etc. based on what the other sensors are reading. but just to warn you the car may still start to die when you come to a stop but shouldn't cut off if this does nothing to help the problem then investigate further

How do i fix if my Engine stalls when at a stop light?

Check for a vacuum leak and check the timing . And check if all cylinders are firing correctly .

Another area to check especially if you already exhausted all the typical intake, fuel, spark issues are you starving the electrical system for power. As you come to a stop the engine has to rely on less electrical since the alternator is now not putting out to full capacity. The battery is in that loop and helps balance power. The installation of a larger sound system can require more power and there-by robbing the engine of needed voltage. (Typically the added system is connected directly to the battery)Example: 1999 Nissan Maxima with a sub woofer added to the sound system will cause the car to stall at idle if the volume range is set too high.Theres been a lots of unnecessary engine parts changed out chasing a stalling problem. The mechanic drives the car trying to simulate the problem, but doesn't think to turn the sound system up to max.

Reset check engine light on a 2001 Toyota tacoma after oil change?

The Check Engine Light has nothing to do with oil changes. It is on because there is a problem with the emissions system.

Evap canister control valve code p1446 where do you find this valve for a Nissan xterra?

How do you turn off the check engine light on 2002 Saturn s series?

The "check engine" light, (known to mechanics as the Malfunction Indicator Light, MIL), indicates that the computer has detected a fault with the controls. Most of the faults that the computer can detect do not result in a total shutdown of the engine, but all affect the performance, efficiency or emissions.

To turn off the MIL, read the computer code by using a code reader. They are available at most auto parts retailers, and many retailers will even help you read the code.

Once you have determined what's wrong, you should be able to replace or repair the offending part and the light should shut off.

Oxygen Sensor

There are actually (4) O2 sensors on your truck. If you look inside the wheel wells behind the fender liner, right about where the frame is one O2 sensor, the other is underneath the truck about half way back in relation to the transmission. If you see where the exhaust joints together, you went about 6" too far.
When you start looking at the O2 sensors, they are normally numbered something like "Bank 1 Sensor 1" Bank 1 is on the passenger side; Bank 2 is on the driver's side. Sensor 1 is the upstream sensor (near the frame, between the block and the cat) and Sensor 2 is near the Y-pipe (downstream of the cat).

Normally it is the upstream sensors (sensor 1) that go first. They see the harshest conditions.

You will need;

Oxygen Sensor Socket

Anti-Seized

Penetrating Oil

I have even used a small plumbers propane tank and heat it up and it help get them free.

Sometimes it will take 15 minutes or take a few hours it depends on your luck…

My 1999 Pontiac grand am se 6 cylinder service engine soon light stays on. The car also stalls out when stopping sometimes?

There are many causes for a service engine light. You need to have it checked for codes. Then you can diagnose from there.

How do you fix P0455?

You find and repair the leak in the evaporative fuel system. It could be anywhere between the gas cap and the engine. Check all vacuum hoses and lines for cracks or holes.

How do you reset the check engine light on a 1998 Mitsubishi Eclipse?

You can disconnect the battery although this is not recommended. You can also use a code reader to read and reset the codes. If you fix the issue, it should reset by itself.

What does obdII p1451 on a 2000 ford ranger mean?

sounds like the eec purge sensor problem sounds like the eec purge sensor problem I believe that is the "On Board Diagostics Series Two" Trouble codes are stored in the computer ..then "read out" by a code reader ; to AID in determining the faulty component RC

My car started stalling with acceleration check engine light pops on and off starting to cut off when i come to a stop and auto zome told me it was coming up as auto control valve any suggestions?

If the light was flashing and it was cutting out, I would have expected a misfire code. I would have then "tuned it up" ie: plugs, wires, etc.. Otherwise due a search for the actual code number. The code should start with a P and be follwed by three numbers.

What causes the engine to run rough in the rain?

probably a cracked distributor cap or old spark plug wires. The crack can be so small you have a hard time finding it but the difference is noticeable after you change it.

Check engine light is on and runs sluggish on take off?

There is a problem effecting the emissions controls. Take it in and have the computer scanned and the problem fixed. Go to the climate control panel and press the 'Off' and 'WARM' button for 5 or 6 seconds, the fuel data display will change to the onboard dianostics mode. Watch all the code numbers that appear. The same simptoms can occurr if he power steering pressure switch is bad, power steering fluid is excessively low, or the power steering pump has gone bad. The problem seems to go away after you have gone a short distance. You should be getting a service engine soon light also. Code E40 is power steering switch open.

Why would a Check engine light goes on for no apparent reason?

honestly i dont know but if you go to your local parts place EX:autozone or advance auto parts they can tell you Pull the codes from the computer, match the code to the troubleshooting procedure, follow the procedure to find the source. Repair the source, light will go out if that was the only problem. There are "monitors" or self tests the computer runs the car through a drive cycle, if a problem occurs, it may not run all of the self tests until that problem is taken care. Therefore, another problem may exist. It is emission related. OR hook up a scanner that is capable of clearing codes, and hope that none are still active.
