How can you turn off the service engine soon light of Mitsubishi mirage 2000?
Not sure on your exact model, never played with it... but since it's almost certainly OBD2 - you'll need a reader to plug in and it should have a 'clear error codes' button. HOWEVER - You must find out what is causing the light to trip (the same code reader should tell you) or it will just keep tripping. The scanners are about 130 bucks, but you maybe able to rent on from an auto repair place. Or have them scan it for you!

What should you do when the check oil light comes on your 2001 Chevrolet Malibu?
Dude, I would check the oil level on your car If it is proper within the specifications on the dipstick I will suggest that you check your oil pump or take your car to get it service by a professional because your crankshaft bearings can be bad and it is loosing pressure or your camshaft sensor can be bad
-or get the oil changed, of you have a valve cover leak you can lose oil that way which will lower your oil level and cause the light to come on.
Faulty: spark plug, spark plug wire, ignition coil, ignition module, fuel injector are the most common. Coolant leaking into a cylinder is another.
Internal engine problems such as burnt valve, broken valve spring, bent push rod, worn rings
How do you reset the SRS and Check engine lights on 2000 Mercedes E320?
you can not reset SRS or Check Engine.you need to take the car to an authorized service workshop.thei will use computer conected to data link conector to reset(also to have a full diagnose). i paid about 20euro for this in Romania at the Mercedes shop for a 1995 S-Class.now i have the same problem with an E-Class because I disconected airbag and switched ignition on. it might be much more expensive in other country, but you can take advantage of the full system diagnosis for the same money. seaman5705@yahoo.com
Simple, Orange = Temperature below 4oC danger of ice. Red = Temperature at or below 0oC. email@bigstoop.co.uk mondeosport.com
Coolant or gasoline mixed with the oil. The oil light will only come on when the pressure drops. Drain the oil and see if it contains coolant or gasoline. You can smell the gas in the oil. Water will settle to the bottom.

How do you reset the check engine light on Cavalier 1997 2.2L without special tools?
Well I had the same problem. What you do is disconnect both battery terminals,
then pump the brake and keep pressing the horn for like 1 minute, that takes the problem out of the memory cell, then wait 1 hour then connect the battery, and see if the light is still on. If it is, wait like 2 and a half minutes, and the car should go off. What your problem could be is that your check engine light needs to be RESET.
I had a similar problem. My check engine light went on and started blinking, and when it blinks, it means theirs a misfire, so I changed all 4 spark plugs, and turned the car on, and the light stopped blinking, but remained on, so it needed to be RESET, because its a computer that senses it, so it doesn't know the problem is all taking care of, so it needed to be RESET. I /helped you.
Yes, Driving a vehicle for any sustained period of time, Low on or Lacking oil Can cause severe engine damage, All engines can be damaged with insuffiecent lubrication as it increases friction and promotes rapid engine wear. As Long as you have added oil to the vehicle, and there is no knocking, smoking, tapping or otherwise unexpected operation, then it should be fine and may not have severe damage.
Why does the check engine light keep going on in a 1992 Geo Metro?
There are about 20 things that turn the light on. Take it to auto zone and have the codes read for free.
Answerthe cause of this could be dew to the smog control, located at the top of the engine around the carbarator area... Answeranother thing could be a broken speed odomitor cable. Answerpull the fuse cover, grab a spare fuse, make sure you don't use a fuse that's being used somewhere else. There is a raised fuse slot at the rear of the fuse box, this is the diagnostic switch. insert the spare fuse. insert the key and turn ignition to the 'run' position when the dash lights come on the 'check engine' light will blink the code out in a pattern. It may blink out several codes, so be sure to have pen & paper handy. the pattern repeates, so don't worry about missing any codes.12 normal 13 O2 sensor (no voltage or voltage doesnt change) 14 coolant sensor circuit high voltage (low temp) 15 coolant sensor circuit low voltage (High temp) 21 throttle switch circuit (manual transmission only) 21 throttle position sensor circuit (high voltage input) 22 throttle position sensor circuit (low voltage input) 23 MAT/IAT sensor circuit 24 speed sensor circuit 25 MAT/IAT sensor circuit 31 MAP sensor circuit 32 MAP sensor circuit 41 ignition sensor circuit (no signal) 42 crank or cam signal sensor (no signal for two seconds) 46 idle speed control motor circuit 51 EGR system circuit
you can clear the codes by pulling and replacing the 'tail light' fuse. don't forget to remove the spare fuse from the diagnostic slot when you are done. Always clear codes after you do work like replace defective part to see if the code (or another) shows up. There is no way to know how old a code is so just best to clear them. If you didnt fix the problem the code will show up again :)
How do you reset the check engine light on a 1997 Honda Passport?
Disconnect the negative battery cable for a couple of minutes, then reconnect. The CHECK ENGINE light should disappear if everything is okay.
Did you try erasing the stored code. If you don't erase them, they will continue to show, even though new parts were put in.
Discontect negative cable from battery for 1 - 2 minutes, if you have a 12 pin (ALDL)Assembly Line Data Link. (early 94 & back)
Use a scanner to remove them if your car is OBDII compliant. Which would have a 16 pin (ALDL)< some were installed in Pre 96(later 94-95)
Or go to Pep Boy's if no scanner is available.
After you erase codes, PCM will have to re-learn all it's stored info, and verify new parts to monitor. It will take so many start cycles, and so many miles before it will show any fault codes if any, before you can determine if the parts you replaced cured the problem.
Also, did you try testing the wiring and circuits before replacing the solenoids?
New parts with malfunctioning wiring or circuits will still show a code as being bad?
Test parts and trace circiuts First! Replace parts Last!$$$$$$$$ Search & Destroy for problems, before taking a hit on price for parts.
PCM codes, get you in the general problem area. Then it leaves the rest up to you! Some day they will pinpoint them for us, but unfortunately it won't be this day!!
When i had this come on with my 95, i found an exhaust leak in the front of the motor near the alternator. I would tighten all your bolts and also look for any vacuum leaks that maybe around. (do this if your codes continue to come back after clearing them)
How do you reset the 'Check Engine' light on a 2001 Ford Ranger?
Disconnect the battery cables for 15 minutes. Then put the key in the ignition and turn it as if to start the motor, and hold it in that position for 30 seconds. (This resets the computer, codes, engine, everything.)
When powering it back up and running the engine, it may run slightly rough for the first few minutes as the motor resets and re-samples all systems.
How do you reset the maintenance required light on a 1999 Dodge 3500 with a 5.9 engine?
you should be able to just disconnect the battery for about 15 minutes and then connect it back up and it should make the light reset and go off. It worked for me at least
one of the ssensors got water in it
How do you reset the check engine light on a 1996 Toyota Camry?
Go to eBay and search "obdII" and buy one, they run about $50.00 including shipping. There are two types, ISO for Chrysler and some Japanese, and the other one for all the others like Ford and GM. There are several that are both, that is the kind you want. Be sure to email the eBay seller and ask if it is used with your year and model. (1996 was a changeover year for OBDII technology, so this advice may not apply to you--but the Toyota dealer service guy can tell you over the phone--ask him if it is OBDII compliant.) When you get it, you just plug it in and let it cycle 4 or 5 times and it resets everything. You then have to drive your car for 50 to 100 miles for the onboard computer to test everything, and in the meantime your car will fail smog checks because it has no history in the computer and the smog test procedure demands a history even if there is no pollution. Cut and Paste http://search.ebay.com/OBDII for a list of them for sale on eBay.

Why might the engine service light not go off on a 1997 Pontiac Sunfire?
There are alot of reasons for that light to go one. Best bet is to take the car to auto zone, pep boys or some similar store and ask them to hook up the scan tool. They usually do it for free and can help you out with the parts to fix it. As a last resort if there isn't one near you a gm dealer can do it but they will prob. charge you.
This is not an uncommon problem with Sunfires or Cavaliers. The engine light is controled by several sensors. These sensors can be set off by just about anything, even just changing the oil. Before you take it anywhere to get the computer read, you may be able to save yourself some money by just unhooking the battery. If it is just a wonky sensor you should be able to unhook the battery and let the memory of the computer reset itself. The best way of doing this is unhooking the battery when you park your car for the night, and leave it unhooked for the entire night. The next morning, hook it back up and go about your business. If the light comes back on again, then you should take your car to a garage to have it checked out. If you haven't heard any noise or noticed any difference in the performance of your car, 9 out of 10 times, it's a wonky sensor.
This happened to me, it may sound silly but I was glad I didn't have to spend a dime!! Do this.....make sure your gas cap is closed all the way!! I actually read that tip in my Sunfire Manual.
your SES light will go off if you have a DTC that is pertaining to either emissions or engine performance issues there are many problems
How do you reset the check engine light on a 96 Mitsubishi Eclipse?
First, if it is something like a loose gas cap, just tighten it and it will reset itself in the next 100 miles or so. If it is something else, like a leaky gas cap it will never reset. But to reset the OnBoardDiagnostic (OBD)Computer... Go to eBay and search "obdII" and buy one, they run about $50.00 including shipping. unplug the battery for 1 minute. If it comes back on, you didn't fix the problem right.
How do you reset the 'service engine soon' light on a 1994 Ford Thunderbird LX 3.8L?
Simply remove the negative battery cable for 30 seconds. GoodluckJoe
DBonds831 says - This will work, but it will also require resetting the clock, radio stations, etc. It's cheating and if the problem hasn't been fixed, it will only be a temporary fix as the light will come back on. I am researching a similar issue for a 1997 T-Bird and will update when I find the actual answer. What I've heard so far is that by pushing in and holding the trip reset button with the car off, and then starting it while holding the trip reset for 10 or 20 seconds, it will reset the light without having to deal with the fallout of disconnecting the battery.
Why would a 93 Town Car check engine light come on quickly frequently stalls while idling?
Check Engine lights can come on for a variety of different reasons. It could be something as simple as the gas cap is not tight enough or it could mean you have a cylinder misfire. The check engine light usually comes on for some sort of emission problem. With the vehicle stalling out especially at idle it could be something like a tps sensor. The only way to tell is to take it to a full service garage or a dealer and have them hook the vehicle up to a code reader to find out why the light is on. But the reason that the light is on is probably the same reason that the car stalls out while idling.
You may want to check the engine vacuum lines for a direct leak to atmosphere. This can stall an engine when at idle but not at driving speeds.
Just assuming it has between 50,000 and 80,000 miles it is almost certainly the O2 sensor. Very popular after 50,000 miles and hardly ever causes any noticeable problems except maybe a slight drop in fuel economy because it will be running a little rich.
I have a 1998 Mercury that this happens to when the gas level gets below 1/4 of a tank. My brother is a mechanic and said that it's just the O2 level and it doesn't cause any harm. To reset it, just unplug the battery for about 2 minutes, then plug it back in.
I purchases a used 2000 Grand Marquis in January and my check light came on without apparent cause. I had it checked and it was a intake manifold leak. Ford has a recall on these manifolds that ends some time this month and will replace the bad manifold for free. You need to have it placed on a computer at a dealership. Ford lost a law suit about the bad intake manifold recently. .
Hey Glenn==A lot of codes are set because of a bad ground. I would see if they came back on. GoodluckJoe Trouble Codes work off of a three step trip. The service engine lights that came on tested itself, once you tried to start your vehicle.Everything should be fine since you have gotten no additional readings since the codes were reset. i had a 96 villager ls ..same thing happen check engine light come on said tranny wasent shiften properly........but yet i never had problem ?....Villagers are known for electrical bugs....Had it tested twice reset...check light would stay off for a while then pop back on ???.. But van never had any shifting problem ???>>>!!! Had the same problem on my 1997 Villager. Turns out it was a bad throttle position sensor. Cheap easy fix.
Check Engine Light !!!!!! I think this will be the Catalylic converter in the exhaust system
Why does the SES light stay on?
Try a different shop if can't solve it. If you have less than 36,000 miles, take it back to the dealer for warranty repair. PO301 is a misfire in the first cylinder. Were the codes properly cleared when the work was done? He could have eliminated the injector by swapping it with another cylinder. Say he moves the injector to cylinder 2, The ecm should show po302 if it is bad. Therefore, you can move a wire (both ends) to a different cylinder or the plug. A misfire could also come from coolant entering the cylinder. How did that plug look on #1 cylinder?
