Why won't the car start unless the hood is banged and now it doesn't start at all?

Check the battery first. Do your interior lights come on ? Check your battery cables . If they are rusty or have some white corrosion on them, clean them with a wire brush and reattach them. You could have a blocked fuel line. There are bunches of things.

Why would a car start and then die and not start again until cooled?

i had this problem on a older ford it was the module in the bottom of the distributor and the same problem in a newer car and it was the module under the coil packs The last answer is correct. Although it could also be the coil pack. If the resistance is off a little bit, it will get worse as the vehicle heats up. It will then kick the auto shut down relay and your done till it resets. Check the module and the coil pack. Depending on the kind of vehicle you have it could be either or both if it's a GM car from the 1980s or 1990s the fuel filter can get clogged to the point where the engine will stall after it's warmed up even tho the fuel pump etc etc are all okay. it does this because the filter is is mounted low and it's filling up due to gravity when the car is off. this often happens on Firebirds/Camaros and can be quite a problem. try changing the fuel filter. ps The diagnostic computer will often fail to see the problem

How do the hoses go on a heater control valveon a 1991 jeep Cherokee?

There are two hoses that come from the thermostat at the top end of the engine at the front of the car. These two hoses go back to the firewall. Just above where they enter into the firewall there is a vacuum switch. It has two small hoses feeding it. One of the hoses gets its vacuum from the intake manifold and the other gets eventually fed to the heat control valve.

The heat control valve is located on the opposite side of the firewall. You will notice that when the engine warms up the top hose is much hotter than the bottom hose. Upon start up the bottom hose might be moderately warm because a small amount of warm coolant will flow through it. After the engine is warm this coolant flow will stop because the heat control valve is closed even though you have the heat at maximum. Simply unplugging the electrical connection to the vacuum switch will open the heat control valve and you should have heat inside your vehicle again.

You can also bypass the vacuum switch by unplugging both vacuum hoses and getting a piece of hose to connect them together. This will give you more heat. Ultimately the vacuum switch needs replacing. Also note that flushing your radiator core is easy to do. You should be able to connect a garden hose to the top hose and flush out the core. The heat control valve does not prevent this when the engine is off. Ultimately, you are asking this question because when you turn on the heat in your Jeep it blows cold air. You might find the heat control valve but realize that it really isn't the problem. It is the vacuum line controlling this valve that is the problem and the vacuum switch connected to it.

The grand cherokees never had the water valve.

How do you change an oil pan on a 1998 Toyota Tacoma with the 2.7?

1992 Camaro RS 3.1 V6 won't start but clicks as if to start?

There are two reasons a car wont start. Either it doesn't have fuel, or it doesn't have power. If the car cranks and doesn't sound like its giving out, you have power. For one reason or another your not getting fuel. You could be out of gas, have bad injectors. That would be the first 2 things to check.

i had a problem similar to this in my 94 z28. i would turn the key and it would make the sound like it was trying to start but wouldn't do it so i took it in to mechanic and the problem was the starter. i had it replaced(kind of an expensive job) and the car has been starting up nicely ever since.

Was bumblebee the camaro in the transformer movie?

Bumblbee was not a Camaro. GM gave two 5.7l V8 2004 GTOs to SALEEN and they modified the GTO's bodies to look like the concept Camaros.

Location of fusible link on 1988 c1500 Chevrolet truck?

The fusible links on a 1993 Ford Ranger are located throughout the vehicle and primarily in the engine compartment. They prevent circuit overloads and must be replaced each time they are burned through.

A 2001 Chevy camaro security lights on is that why the car won't start?

This problem is caused by the GM Theftlock system which is a security system that whenever the ignition is tampered with the vehicle cuts off fuel and refuses to start. The problem with this system is that there seems to be an issue in many GM vehicles where the system is faulty and constantly is tripping the system at random leaving owners stranded. The quick solution that is located in your owners manual is to leave your key in the "ON" position for appx 10 minutes until the "Security" or "Theft System" light stop blinking and become solid... then turn the key to "OFF" and attempt to restart the vehicle. This has never failed for me.. but is becoming annoying. My mother drives a 2004 Grand Am SE1 V6 and it has just started this problem... also I own a 2002 Chevrolet Malibu which started with this problem a few years ago which finally got fixed when I had my mechanic completely replace and re-key my ignition.. which may not be a solution for everyone.. but I am glad it worked for me.

Lug nut bolt broke while trying to get tire off how do you remove it?

You may have to get a nut splitter, a grinder, or a hammer and chisel to get nut off and then have stud replaced. Hopefully the splines in the drum haven't been torn out and a new stud can be pressed in. If not, you might be running a lug nut short (which is not at all wise) or you'll have to come up with a new drum. Auto recyclers live for challenges like this.

Why would your 1990 Toyota Camry start using jumper cables but as soon as you remove cables and turn car off it won't start again?

well....chanes are high that it's the alternator. take it to autozone, and they will test the alternator for free, and since obviously you cant drive it there, you can still take the alternator out and take it into autozone. you might take your battery too, just incase. it could also be a ground from the alternator

How do you remove the power steering pump alternator bracket on a 1995 Chevy Silverado?

I need help on how to remove my powersteering pump? You must first remove the power steering pump pulley. Most part stores have a tool loaner program so you can borrow the puller and and return it and get your money back. After the pulley is removed there are 3 bolts holding the power steering pump to the bracket. Pull those and the long bracket that is on the back of the pump and connects to the exhaust manifold and alternator and the pump should slide out. This information is for a 5.7L engine, but I believe it is close to the same for a 4.3L.

How do you fix a flux capacitor?

The central component of a flux capacitor is a charged dilithium crystal. This is very difficult to obtain, but the other components (pre-rearranged dark matter etc.) are quite common. Try and find a scrapped space-drone, as most of these contain a small amount of lesser, or opaque dilithium. Once you gather enough, bring it to any major astrophysics lab, as the black hole based equipment should be enough to recombine it. Or, since you are already have a good enough imagination, just cause one to spontaneously appear, then go and kill the space-dinosaur.

When do they start making the next year's pennies?

Will a powerglide trans fit in a 1995 caprice with a 4.3?

Powerglide in a '95 CapriceA powerglide will bolt in to a 95 Caprice. However, you will have several hurdles to overcome.

The first problem is that the driveshaft will almost definitely not be the right length. You must have at least 3/4 of the yoke slid on to the output shaft of the transmission. If you don't, you will have severe vibration that will not only ruin the u-joint, but will also cause damage to the tail housing, the yoke bushing, and possibly the output shaft.

The second problem is that the transmission will likely not match up to the crossmember properly. You can overcome this by welding 1/4' steel extension plate to the crossmember to reach the transmission mount location on the transmission as long as it is only a few inches off. If it is more than two or three inches off, you will need to either move your crossmember (which will involve frame channeling or boxing, or you will have to have a custom crossmember built.

Third, and this is the biggest problem, is the kickdown linkage. A powerglide's kickdown mechanism is rod driven, not cable operated. You will need to custom build a rod to match up to the throttle body, not to mention figure out a way to connect the rod to the TBI.

Fourth, you will have no speedometer, no cruise, and a host of other potential problems because the VSS (Vehicle Speed Sensor) will not be present any longer.

The short answer is, yes, you can make anything work, but it will not be a direct swap.

The biggest question is why in the world anyone would do this. The only thing a powerglide is good for anymore is drag racing. But based on the fact that you asked whether it will fit behind a weaser 260 makes me wonder if you are doing it for that reason.

If you are trying to get away from using the 4L60E overdrive, a much better solution will be a 700R4 from an '88 or later 2WD truck. It is a much closer swap and will only require slight changes particularly with the VSS configuration. Everything else is a direct swap.

As far as gear ratios go, the 700R4 has a much better 1st gear ratio than a powerslide. (3.08:1 vs. 2.76:1).

If you are still bent on not using an overdrive, a TH350 would be a good alternative. They're cheap, powerful, and much easier to put in. BTW, you'll need to find one with a 9" tailshaft out of a 69-86 2WD truck or a 69-76 B-Body car. The kickdown is cable operated and I believe you can get adapters to compensate for the VSS problem.

Sounds to me like a lot more work than it's worth. Used 4L60E transmissions can be had for a few hundred bucks at the salvage yard. Probably less than you will spend or modifications to make something else work and certainly less time.

Can you use a front bumper and headlights off a 1998 Chevy Camaro on a 1997 Chevy Camaro?

No, the 98 Camaro is when Chevy started switching things up, they headlights aren't the in cased bulbs for headlights they are now a 9000 type bulb such as a 9005 I believe is what 98 Camaro's take for headlights. The only way I could think it was possible is if you replaced the headlights, hood, fenders, bumper, and I'm not sure then if it would still work. Those two years are the two different 4th generation Camaro's made.

95 rs comaro will not shift unless you manualy shift it?

Im sure you did but I'd check fluid level. If it's really low it will give you shift problems. Other than that, I don't know much bout transmissions.

What does the cam sprocket line up with when putting on a timing chain?

Generally, for most single cam engines, there is a dot or mark on the cam sprocket and a similar mark on the crank sprocket. Point them at each other. the timing marks on the crank and cam sprockets must be lined up with marks on the timing chain in an overhead cam engine
