How do you tell if the head is cracked on a 1995 Chevy Corsica?

Look at your oil filler cap see if there is a tan foamy looking substance usually means water/anti freeze is in your oil. Pull spark plugs and check and see if any plug is wet with water. When driving see if there is white smoke coming from your exhaust. These are all the quick and easy checks, another method is to purchase and exhaust gas detector to use in your cooling system, you put it on your radiator fill tube and if there are any exhaust gases present the chemical in the detector will change color. Another good trouble shooting source is an online tech source called ALLDATA.COM the service cost $14.95 a year but it is so well worth it, with this servcie there is nothing you can not do. How do you change the tie rod end on a 1993 Chevy Corsica?

Simplified answer as you have not indicated left or right or rack end:

Jack up car.

Remove wheel on offending side

Locate tie rod

Release lock nut that locks tie rod end to tie rod thread.

Remove nut that connects and retains tie rod to steering knuckle.

At this point you need to release the tie rod end from the steering knuckle.

You can do this with a properly applied hammer, but be careful you can bend or break the steering knuckle. I prefer to use a special tool for this purpose. It takes a couple extra minutes to pop this apart but insures no damage.

Thread the tie rod end off the the threaded tie rod or out of the coupler.

Reverse to install new but do not tighten the lock nut or nuts.

Reinstall tire and lower car to ground.

Take a tape measure and adjust the toe in.

Lock the Lock nuts up solid.

3.1 firing order?

The firing order for this engine is 1-2-3-4-5-6. The cylinders are 1-3-5 from left to right on the back head, and 2-4-6 from left to right on the front head. The coil pack is 1-4-6-3-2-5 from left to right when viewing from the front of the car.

Why is there No overdrive in 94 chev automatic trans?

The overdrive has probably been unplugged on the transmission. Its a blue connector located on the transmission underneath the aircleaner. They are usually unplugged for a reason. If you plug it in and it runs bad, you have to replace the unit on the transmission.

How do you change the rear speakers in a 1992 Nissan maxima?

Answer

Open the trunk, release all of the white plastic clips holding down the rear dash. Pull up on the rear seat to remove it. Remove the rear dash and unscrew speakers from the top. Factory connections will need to be cut and wire ends will need to be put on them. In most cases a stock clarion amplifier will run the stock speakers. This should not effect the aftermarket speakers.

Try to use the Nissan speaker adapters plugs so you don't need to cut wires and mess up the electric system, you can get those from eBay or amazon.

Why is your 1995 Corsica carpeting wet mostly wet on front driver side and slightly wet on passenger side?

You have a heater core leaking. Check your fluid level on your radiator. It should be a little low. They are not the most fun thing to replace.

How do you fix electrical issues on a 89 Chevy Corsica which has led to the fuse being blown as soon as it is entered all brake lights out even with bulbs change also horn radio and locks not working?

Has anything been done to the car that may be causing the short. New radio, trailer lights added, things like that? Take all the bulbs out of the sockets, inspect the base that the bulbs go into. Sometimes these will corrode and cause a short. With the bulbs out, step on the brake pedal and turn the lights one. If the fuse is still good, put one bulb in and repeat stepping on the brake and turning on the lights. Put the second bulb in and repeat. At some point, the fuse should blow and that is the one with the problem. At that point it should be easy to figure out what the problem is. Bad base, pinched wire.

How do you change the rear speakers in a Lincoln mark 8?

To remove the speaker grilles in the rear of a Mark VIII gently pry up on the lower forward portion of the speaker grille. Do not forceor pull on the grille, just pull it slightly out from the interior panel and then move your finger under the grille along the lower portion and up the back side. This SHOULD dislodge the clips that hold the grille in place. Now pull down very carefully on the entire grille assembly and it should be free of the interior panel. Now there are four TROX screws holding the woofer and two for the tweeter....

How do you syphon gas from a Corsica?

Definitely avoid doing it the old way--where you breathe in and out of a tube. It has been linked to lung cancer and worse.

Where is the low pressure valve to add freon on a 1988 Corsica?

It is R134. The port is either on or close to the receiver dryer or the shinny can thing in the right rear of the engine compartment.

No, actually a 1988 model year vehicle would have come from the factory with an R-12 system. If you're not the original owner of the vehicle, I would strongly recommend that you have a refrigerant purity test done on your vehicle - many R-12 systems were converted to R-134a, but retained the R-12 schrader valves.

What function does a breather pipe have on a Chevy Corsica?

Not sure what you mean by a "breather pipe".

In the old days--before emissions, engines had breather pipes which vented blow-by and crankcase vapors directly to the atmosphere. Car co's wised up in the late 1960' s or thereabouts, both about the environment and increasing engine life, and installed Positive Crankcase Ventilation (PCV) systems.

Basically, blow-by (hot gasses, unburnt fuel, and condensation from the top side of the pistons that literally blows by the piston and rings, even in new vehicles) is very corrosive and damaging to metal parts in the bottom half of the engine. It also contributes to pollution.

PCV systems are set up to draw air from the vehicle's air cleaner down a tube, typically into one valve cover, through the engine head's oil return passages, through the crankcase, and into another tube on the other (we're talking about a V-6 or V-8 here, but they all work similarly) valve cover. This "exit tube" is controlled by a PCV valve which has a weak spring to prevent air flow going the wrong way, and to keep the PCV system from adversely affecting the engine's performance under certain load conditions.

The exit tube is ultimately connected to the carburetor or air horn of a fuel injection system, so there is vacuum on the exit tube. Thus while the PCV valve is open, the system "flushes" blow-by gasses and other crankcase vapors through the exit tube, and into the air-air/fuel mix path, where it enters the cylinders and is burned.

The V-6 3.1 Corsica's PCV valve is on the rear valve rocker cover, and the vacuum ("exit") tube is a model of crappy engineering, an S-shaped rubber hose that requires that the intake air plenum be removed from the top of the engine to replace.

How do I add freon to a 1995 Chevy Corsica?

Make sure that you have the coolant r134a because the government banned the other coolant used due to chemicals that are worse for the environment. Corsica's usually take 2 1/2 cans if the ac is blowing warm inside the car. Oh , and you could get fined if you are caught doing this on the street.

You will need a hose to attach to the low end of your cooling lines. The low line is at the back of the motor, closest to the firewall. You can purchase the hose from autozone, napa, etc. (Coolant line is silver metal hose with plastic screw on plastic cap)

Follow the instructions with the kit. The hardest part will be getting the hose onto your cooling line because it's under pressure and your motor will be hot.

1. Just make sure the hose is securely attached and be careful to not burn yourself.

2.You'll need to screw on the can of coolant to the free end of the hose until you cant turn anymore, that pierces the can open and locks off the line to keep the coolant from spilling.

3.Then turn it back all the way to open the line and let the coolant flow. About 10-15 turns.

4.Then you have to turn your ac on inside the car and this will suck the coolant into your ac line.

5. Go back to the can and hold it until you feel that it is empty- it should be ice cold and empty.

6.Quickly take off the empty can quickly and attach another, turning to pierce the can and turning back to open the flow.

7. QUICKLY remove hose and place cap on the line.

8. Drive your car around for about an hour. (Keep an eye on the temperature guage.) This will allow for the line to expel any air and for the line to circulate the coolant good.

**As you add the coolant go inside the car to see if the air is beginning to blow colder. If not, this could indicate that the coolant is leaking out. You can actually see if it is, as it is neon green. If that is the case, you may need to replace the clutch compressor unit ($260-$315, or $75 used at junk yard. Better to buy it new)

How to change heater core on '94 Corsica?

It's located in the center of the front floorboard way up in front. If you have carpet there pull it down and there are several bolts the you will need to take off. Once you get them off and pull the plastic case off you will be able to see the heater core. I think there is a strap that holds it on in there just take it off and you should have two hoses coming off the heater core, take them off and hook them up to the new one and finish up.

When you get past 55 mph or if you use the heater the check engine light comes on why?

No idea to be honest, but i have a 95 Corsica with a similar problem that will turn the Service engine light on after a while of driving highway speeds, or after reaching highway speeds and slowing down again. After getting the code read i found out it was for the EGR valve sensor. Basically meaning that its positioning fine at normal in town driving but not working as it should at higher speeds.

Again i can't assure you this is a positive solution but i would recommend running your car as you would normally get on the highway and then while the light stays on going to AutoZone (They will run service engine soon checks for free) or a mechanic you trust. hope this helps.

Where is the TCC valve located in a 1991 Chevy Corsica and will the transmission be damaged if I unplug it?

I have a 1990 corsica with the same problem. After the engine was warm the tork lock would not disingage. I disconected the tcc valve. This caused bad gas mileage. I hooked it back up to see if I could find the real problem. What I discovered was the tcc was working under excelleration, but not under decelleration. This fact led me to beleave that to disingage the tork lock you need good trans fluid preshure. I did an experiment, I got on the interstate drove until I was shure it would malfuction when I slowed down. When I got off I55 I realised the tork lock was still engaged and I was in first gear. I then shifted to nutral, and excelerated the engine to above 3000 RPM. I then shifted to drive, and the tork lock was disingaged. Fluid preshure is the key. I installed a trans cooler broblem solved!!!

How do you check a tps?

Use either an analog VOM or a lab scope set for either Volts or Ohms to look for a smooth sweep as you slowly move the throttle from open to closed several times. Any jumpiness indicates a bad sensor. Voltage should read at spec for minimum and maximum at WOT and closed throttle, but any variation means little until you check for reference voltage and ground.

A digital voltmeter, ohmmeter, or multimeter is worthless for this purpose as the resolution will not catch a problem. A graphing multimeter is similarly not usable.

How do you bypass 1998 Tahoe with pass lock if you don't have key lock cylinder and sensor The truck was stolen recovery pieces were missing?

I have the same problem and have been serching for an answer for two months. What I found out today the anti-thief system is tied into the radio. A professional installer has a by-pass kit[w/thin gauge wire]. My concern is what to bo about the key lock cylinder? If I still need to buy a a dealer cylinder, I found prices for aboyut $250.00 w/o installation. So if your Tanoe has a reasonable priced cylinder and sensor[at any local parts store,] I'd replace those items. For me I'm going to use a push button to start the car untile I find a used cylinder lock and ignition switch.Hope this is of some help to you, aagsr

What could cause your high beams not to work on a 1993 Corsica?

my hi/lo switch just crapped and the lights died completely before the switch quit for good. Maybe that's what happened to you? If anyone knows how to change the switch on a 1990 3.1L Corsica please post.

Thanks

Freaker

I had same problem on 89 Corsica. Hi/lo switch under dash and hard to take off unless you remove steering column so I unplugged switch and plugged in new switch and set new switch on low beam and wired switch to column. Now have low beams but since new switch not connected to activator rod (which goes to turn signal handle) as old switch still attached to activator rod, only have low beams. New switch about ten dollars. On 89 there is ground wire on body in front of battery. First, unbolt and clean ground, as bad ground can make lights inoperative so if you are lucky, cleaning ground could solve problem.
