The cat is my guess, i have a 96' Firebird, and my car had a HUGE loss of power, it was a bad cat, what happens is the cat gets clogged from unburned gases, particle buildup, pretty much anything can clog it, it can be caused from misfires, no fire from one cylinder, lots of things. the 3.4 has about 160 to 200 horse power it actually has 210 hp These horsepower questions amuse me. I'm guessing you want the amount it is rated at from the factory, which is 210 horsepower. However, it depends what you want-if you measure the amount at the flywheel, it will be higher, where if you measure it at the wheels, it will be lower due to the power loss through the transmission. The factory rating was measured on the engine with all accessories on. But the actual amount of horsepower your car produces depends on the condition on the engine.

normally, it is easier to replace the entire cv axle, an aftermarket one can be purchased fairly cheaply ie; checker, autozone, ect. If you are not fimiliar with working on cars, you might want to have a shop do this for you, but i will explain how to do this anyway. loosen the lugnuts on the wheel you will be removing, remove the large axle nut in the middle, this is usually an odd metric size, so you will need the appropriate socket, and will probably have to be a deep socket, also, this nut is tight, and is easier to do with air tools. jack up the vehicle on the side you will be working on, but not from under the control arm. remove the wheel, remove the tie rod end nut, separate the tie rod end from the steering knuckle, this is mose easily done with what is called a fork, it slips in between the ball joint & knuckle, you hit this with a large hammer, and it will pop loose, this can also be done by beating on the steering knuckle where the ball joint stud goes thru, do not beat on the ball joint stud itself, or you will destroy the ball joint, after this, you will need to separate the lower control arm ball joint from the control arm, again, you will need the fork, sometimes, you will need 2 different size forks, due the the different size ball joints, with a large pry bar, pry the lower control arm down, so it clears the lower ball joint, and pull the knuckle and strut out, you may have to pry the axle out of the knuckle, once this is out of the way, you will have access to the axle asembly. now, you will have to pry the axle out of the transmission, it is held in by a " c " clip, sometimes, you can just jerk on the axle, and it will pop out, if it does not, you will need to pry it out of the transmission by putting 2 pry bars, or large screw drivers, between the inner cv joint housing, and the transmission, and " pop " it out. now, simply install the new axle, and reverse the dissembly procedure.

Get a sledge hammer, and hit it a couple times. Should come right off. Make sure to clean up afeter yourself. We dont want you bleeding on the floor. Or you can pour gasoline and put it on fire. Keep doing it, and it should melt right off.

Remove all plastic parts of air intake, directly underneath the throttle body "last part where plastic air intake goes" you will find a water pipe coming from radiator, it is behind it. good luck. 13mm wrench and a third arm and your all set
