Will breaking the timing belt damage the engine on a 2000 Subaru Forester?
I believe that you are asking if the Forester engine is what is known as an "interference engine". That is, is it possible for the valves to contact the pistons if they are out of synchronization? My answer is based on empirical evidence from my '96 Outback and my assumption is that these engines are similar in this regard. No, the piston will not contact the valve if the belt breaks. But why take the chance? Change the timing belt because if it fails, the engine ceases working immediately. There are times in every day driving where having the car stop could be deadly. Don't forget to change the water pump at the same time. --Ken

Locaion of PVC vavle on 1990 Toyota pickup 22re motor?
Its beside the air filter casing and on top of the valve cover on the 88 22R. i used a set of needle nose to get it out and only my fingers for the hose retainer.
Its between the lower and upper intake manifolds. It is part of the lower intake manifold and is covered by the upper intake tubing. It's like the surfer riding the ocean with the waves curled over head. In the 3.0 dohc's case the ocean would be the lower intake, where the oil separator rides while the upper intake manifold tubing curls over the top of if. If your lucky you can see just the leading surface with a flash light. The PCV valve is here. Start at the air intake end, look under the intake for a special ford hose assembly; its 3 piece. At the air intake theres a elbow attached to the bottom, its diameter starts at about 1-1/2" and transends to about 5/8" at the plastic or metal formed tube (year dependant). That tube goes down and under the upper manifold where it attaches to a short 2" hose, which in turn connects to the pcv valve. The valve on my 02 is a black plastic piece. It inserts into the oil separator with a quarter turn to the right. It has a square flange about 3/4" back from the valves tube opening. I used a piece of 3/4" sq alumimum tubing (it has and Inner sq of about 5/8") to remove and insert my valve. It you can find a 5/8" 8 point 1/2" socket it will also work. I am told that the rubber elbow I mentioned above is the weak link in this system. It seems that after many hot/cold cycles under the hood that its material weakens and allows the systems vaccuum to collaspe the elbow. I could find this assembly at the dealer only and for a cost of about $32. The motorcraft pcv was $6 or $7. I am told however that the dealer is asking nearly $200 to install the valve. I havent asked them, so I hope this is an urban myth. Good luck.

Where is the PCV valve located on a 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix?
it is on the rear valve cover.very hard to get to..
The pcv valve is not visible on a 3800 series II engine, which I presume you have in your Grand Prix, because it is located under the MAP sensor. You will find that at the front of the engine, where the serpentine belt is located. Unplug the connector to the MAP sensor and then you will have to unclip the sensor itself. You will then see pcv valve underneath.
3For a 3800 normally asperated check out the following website for pics and instructions.http://www.scacgp.com/mods/gt_pcv.htm

How do you turn off the service engine soon light?
Check the owners manual. Its covered in there and I believe has something to do with holding down the trip odometer switch while starting the car. (2000 Odyssey) You don't need to start the engine. Just push in on the trip odometer button and hold it in while you turn the ignition to "ON" (don't start the engine) and wait for about 10 seconds. This will work on 1997-2005 Odysseys. (It may also work with 2006-on but I don't know for sure.)
Where is PCV valve on dodge ram 2004 V6 3.7?
I'm curious too cause mine needs to be replaced cause my check engine light is on and giving the PCV valve code as well as a "very small emissions leak" code. If I had to guess, it's under the breather that connects to the throttle body. If nobody answers by the end of this weekend I'll have one cause I plan to take care of mine ASAP so I can get my vehicle to pass inspection. Matt
