Crankcases and PCV Valves

Basically, a crankcase is the casing for the crankshaft of an internal combustion engine. Combustion produces pressure within the crankcase. Positive crankcase ventilation (PCV) valves regulate the vapor pressure within the engine and recycle it back into the engine.

Where is the location of the PCV valve on a 1998 Buick Lesabre 3.8 liter engine?

Where is the PCV valve located on a 2003 Mazda Tribute?

Unfortunately,, the Mazda engineers located the PCV valve on the 3.0L engines under the intake manifold--essentially right under the throttle body. You can't see it until you pull the upper intake manifold off. I would definitely change out the PCV valve if you are replacing the spark plugs since the manifold has to come off to get to the back 3 spark plugs. A big hint here,, the pcv valve has to be turned 90degrees to the left to get it out of the housing.. a 7/8" 12 point deep socket seems to work. Look at your new pcv valve and you will see what I mean. Once you finally feed in the new pcv valve,, it must be turned 90degrees to the right to get it onto place. A 12" set of needle nose pliers might help also to get the hose off the pcv valve.

it allows your crankcase air to prevent a "vacuum" from occurring, it may also release small amounts of oil from your CC back to the intake which essentially gets pulled back through the engine

What is the purpose of the inlet exhaust valve?

there is no such thing as an inlet exhause valve, you have the inlet valve which lets your air/fuel mixture enter the engine for the power stroke and the exhaust valve which allows the burnt out air/fuel mixture to leave the engine after that the inlet valve re-opens and lets fresh or new air/fuel mixture enter to let it be compressed and combust for the power stroke.

First, the correct name is "Intake" valve.

There are intake, intermediate intake and exhaust valves in some newer foreign made engines.

Where is the PCV valve located on a 1988 Honda Accord?

It doesn't have one. You need to go to a car parts store, and get a repair manual for your car. They cost about $16.00 Or, go to a Public Library. I think it does have one. It's underneath a black hose, about 1" O.D., that is shaped like a U, just in front of the air cleaner. I have not replaced mine yet because I can't tell if it's easy or hard to do.

Where is the pcv valve on an 88 Chevrolet caprice classic?

It should be on top of the valve cover on the driver side right where you add oil. The oil cap is at the end of the valve cover towards the back of the engine and the pcv valve is on the same valve cover but towards the front of the engine. It sticks out of the valve cover just like the the oil cap does. I have the exact same year and model car as you and that's where mine is located at.

Where is the PCV valve on a 1998 Ford Contour?

I just had mine fixed. I asked the mechanic where it was and he said behind the exhaust and the #4 cylinder. I don't know anything about cars but he showed me a hose that had collapsed because I needed to change the pcv valve. He said that is hard on an engine and he said I would get better gas mileage and oil useage because of changing it.

Where is the PCV valve on a 2002 Grand AM?

I Believe the PCV is located on the top front of the engine just above the second or last spart plug on the right , facing the engine as you open the hood.. A tool is not required to replace , you can just lift it out of the hole and pull it off the attached hose ..Very cheap to replace , probably less that 5 dollars.. Hope this helps..

Where is the PCV valve on a 1996 Ford Thunderbird 4.6?

The PCV Valve itself is on the right bank valve cover (passenger side), directly underneath the air intake plenum. The plenum will need to be removed for access.

The plenum looks like what? Any description or diagram would be helpful. It is a black rubber air pipe approx. 3-1/2 diameter. It runs from the air filter box to the throttle body. It is secured by simple hose clamps and can be removed easily with a flat head screw driver.
