Crankcases and PCV Valves

On the oil fill cap side of the valve cover. To access the PCV valve you will need to remove the protective plastic cover mounted over the valve cover area.Two small nuts are holding it in place. Unlike other PCV valves you may have changed in the past, this one is screwed into the valve cover instead of being inserted into a grommet. You will need a 22 mm deep socket or a suitable wrench to remove it.

Your PCV valve is a simple plastic piece of plumbing that performs a not-so-vital function for your engine. The Federal government, however, thinks it's very important. In reality it's an important part of your car's emission control system. If your PCV valve becomes clogged, your emission controls can't function fully, and the results are poor idling, loss of gas mileage, slow acceleration, loss of power and other similar ailments. There isn't a consensus on how often the PCV valve should be replaced, but somewhere in the neighborhood of 30-60,000 miles seems to make sense

The PCV is on the drivers side valve cover (towards the rear of it). The air cleaner outlet tube from the air filter to the top of the motor may be hiding view of it somewhat, you should be able to reach around it to remove it. If you cannot see it, make sure if you are going by feel where it is that you don't accidentally pull anything else out by mistake.

first of all its ... PCV. Positive Crankcase Ventallation. It is a located between two hoses on the intake manifold. It runs from the top of the valve covers to the back of the intake and then to the other side.

its a flame trap. look up bay 13 at www.volvospeed.com on how/where

there isn't one im pretty sure if there is it will be in the valve covers

Most likely needs a tuneup done. Check the timing and change the normal tuneup part.

There are a few things that might have gone wrong. You may have disturded a brittle vaccum line check vac lines, or you may have too much vaccum in the pcv.

LOOK AT OTHER PCV VALVES AT THE NEXT AUTO PARTS STORE YOU GO TO FOR A BETTER UNDERSTANDING. NOW PCV VALVES COME WITH THEIR OWN PLUGS DEPENDING ON APPLICATION. THE SECOND TAP CONNECTION OFF OF THE PVC VALVE IS USE FOR THE EVAP SYSTEM,THAT SYSTEM VENTS FUEL VAPOR BACK INTO THE ENGINE TO BURN AFTER ENGINE IS RESTARTED,IT IS AN EPA EMMISIONS ADD ON..........

PVC is a type of plumbing pipe, not a valve on your engine. PCV valve would be connected on vaccum hose by intake. If you find it, remove and shake or look for little ball looking thing in bottom. If it makes rattling noise that is your PCV

Actually, it's not that easy to find on this car....standing in front of the car, you have to look down to the right of the heatshield (in front of the engine block) and you will see an elbow in the incoming hose line. Simply pull up on this to expose or pull out the PVC valve. It's easy to switch out, just very difficult to find on this car.

somewhere along the valve cover should be an outlet which feeds back into your intake system. Typically the pcv is located at the valve cover towards the rear (firewall or 4th piston) and is plugged right into the valve cover itself. It usually costs less than $10 and takes less than 5 minutes to replace.

Mine does not have one! Some do, and it is on the rear valve cover.

There is no PCV valve on the 2.2 Liter engine.

On the driver's side valve cover towards the back of the engine, on top.

The camshaft opens the valve via its Lobes, against the valve spring, to open. The valve springs closes the valve back.

My 89 Mpv's is located right in the middle of the engine compartment underneath the intake.Its is an inline pcv so follow the hose up to it.

if the engine is a 4.6 then you can find it on the left side (looking from front) on the valve cover, it is a little pipe sticking out of it and has rubbertiny tubes going from it

It is on the intake manifold when your sittin in the car it is on the left side of your intake manifold. I think it is a 19 mm socket or wrench with a hose connected to it with vacuum in the hose.

It is on the driver side engine valve cover. Its a small part, There is a short L shaped (right angle) hose about 1/4 inch in diameter connected to it. Lift up on the hose and it should disconnect from the valve cover. the small metal cylinder should pull right off that hose. Thats your PCV valve.

Note: there is a similar hole on the opposite valve cover, but that has a larger hose that connects to the intake. You can use this as a reference to find the PCV valve on the driver side.

worn rings, get a can of RESTORE, add it when you change oil. Replace one quart of oil when you change for the can of restore. The restore will help reseat the rings and hopefully reseal them to stop the blow by unless the rings are too far gone........and change out the PCV valve if you haven't. most blowback is caused by broken rings, not worn rings. adding any chemical only masks a problem and will just lead to a more expensive repair at a not to distanyt future

a diesl does not have a PCV valve a diesel does not create vaccum as does a gas engine foed diesel engines have a vaccuum pump, located beneath and to side of a/c pump,this pump is to compensate and produce vaccuum for brakes, and is driven by serpentine belt
