Where do you find transmission filter on 2004 ford escape?
Your Escape has Ford's infamous CD4E. That is of course assuming yours is not a hybrid (most aren't). The CD4E does not have an externally user serviceable filter. The filter is inside the transaxle case which means that he transaxle needs to be removed from the vehicle and disassembled for replacement.
Because of this, transmission fluid flushes are extremely important. My recommendation is every 30k miles for most vehicles. $90 every two or three years is money well spent if it keeps you from replacing or rebuilding the unit.
Source(s):ASE certified Master Auto Technician. You have a fog light that is out replace the bulb and fuse and everything should work again. I have a 2000 Pontiac grand am and I was at work when someone told me my fog light was on. I went out to turn them off and it wouldn't work I had to call my husband and he told me to take out the fuse. When I got home he changed the bulb and placed a new fuse in and everything has been working great.
Why do the interior lights of your 1992 grand marquis stay on after you turn off the car?
The light should stay on for quite a while. If they stay on without opening a door and they will not go out, then a door switched may be jammed or broke. The door switch is a little button that tells whether the door is open or not. The car may think that a door is still open. also you may have a problem in the headlight switch itself-make sure the dial for keeping the dome light on the headlight switch is`nt on You may have what I think Ford called "Opera Lighting" where after you shut the door, the light stays on for a few minutes, and then dims out.
How do you replace the DPFE sensor on a 2001 Ford Escape?
Make sure you get a Motorcraft sensor. The aftermarket ones usually do not work. You can get them on Ebay cheaper than from the dealer
The Motorcraft DPFE sensor is 4U7Z-9J460-AA. This is an upgrade from the original sensor which was a bit smaller and had the stock number 2FIE-9J460-AB.
How do you turn off the interior lights of a 2003 Jeep Liberty with a fuse?
Left end of the instrument panel. Open the drivers door, look about armrest height for the fuse panel cover. Removing fuse number 34 should disable the lights. You'll have to see if you can live with whatever else may loose power.
Is a 3.55 rear end get better mileage then a 3.73?
YES , IT'S BASIC MATH! Also depends on how the vehicle is driven, the state of the vehicle as far as what maint. has been done.
What size of windshield wiper blades for a 2004 Ford Escape?
The 2004 Ford Escape had a mid-year production change that affected the wiper blade configuration. Early production had 19" on both sides front. Late production had 20" drivers side and 18" passenger side. So, start with measuring your current wipers, then reference the sources and related links below for further explanation.
Is the 2005 Ford Explorer front wheel drive rear wheel drive or four wheel drive?
The 2005 Ford Explorer has rear wheel drive.
Are bulbs in parallel brighter or bulbs in series brighter?
Lamps connected in parallel are subject to the same voltage. Provided this voltage corresponds to the lamps' rated voltage, then each lamp will operate at its rated power and at its full rated brightness.
Individual lamps connected in series operate below their rated voltage (the sum of the voltage drops around a series circuit equals the supply voltage) and will, therefore, operate below their rated power and brightness. The lamps will vary in brightness; those with the lower power ratings will be brightest and those with the higher power ratings will be least bright.
In the Ford Escapes car manual or repair manual there should be a radio diagram. Most radios can be exchanged in place of the factory radio though a harness may need to be purchased.
How do you know if your fuel pump is going out?
first, i need to know if it is electrical or mechanical? if electrical,& in the tank of car, it will just stop working. if it is outside of tank it will not make any noise if it is bad! it should buzz or vibrate (really soft)if it is working correctly. if mechanical, like on old Chevy small blocks it will "clatter" a little before going out.
How do you change the serpentine belt for a 1999 Pontiac Sunfire?
If you go to advance auto, or auto zone and purchase a haynes manual for 10 to 20 dollars, it will describe in detail (including pictures) of this repair, and many more for this automobile.
*Edit: Before you read this rant, I have specific instructions on how to replace the belt on a 1999 Sunfish below the next few paragraphs. But please feel free to explore the rhetoric which I have provided for you in the mean time while you kill some time on the 'net. Surely, you have two minutes to indulge yourself in my musings.
Whoever posted this answer obviously read the question wrong. It asks specifically, clearly and in one sentence how one would change the serpentine belt on his Sunfish. The answer is a response to a different question, which would be "Where do I find the instructions on how to change a serpentine belt for my car?" The asker already knows the answer to this question, he went to Answers.com to find it. You're one step behind, kiddo.
Now. Being the owner of a 1997 Sunfire myself, and since the two engines are nearly identical, I was curious as to how one would perform this operation, so I Google'd it. Now I'm here, and still at a lack of an answer. Shoot...
I know you feel like you've contributed by waving your e-penis around and throwing a quick "professional sounding" answer back, but this isn't the question you were trying to answer. The asker of this question was obviously not going to spend any money learning how to do something this simple, and you haven't changed their mind, I'm quite positive. They most likely went to find another website which did have the answer.
So please, if you are not a professional, an experienced worker in your field, are not highly knowledgeable, are not willing to spend your time sharing what you know, or do not have regular, intimate contact with the subject matter which the question regards, do NOT attempt to answer the question.
Nobody, I mean quite literally NOT ONE HUMAN BEING ALIVE will waste their time sifting through a mountain of meaningless comments to find an answer which nobody is able to provide. So, in the interest in helping a brother (or sister, let's not be sexist these days) out, I've decided to research the subject matter from a legitimate source as a big "middle finger" to the lad who thought he could answer this person's plea for help.
*HOW TO CHANGE A SERPENTINE BELT ON A 1999 PONTIAC SUNFIRE*
1) Locate your 1999 Pontiac Sunfire. This is absolutely crucial because you cannot perform this operation without the vehicle at hand.
2) Locate your engine within the front half of your 1999 Pontiac Sunfire. It's the thing, under the hood, with that other stuff.
3) Your serpentine belt is going to be on the left side of the engine compartment. It's the belt, named creatively after an appendage-lacking vertebrate which it does not resemble in the slightest. So the name serpentine belt could perhaps be misleading. It's more of a gargantuan rubber band, but they don't call it that.
4) Locate your belt tensioner. I wish I were able to post pictures on this website, since there are many, many ideas and concepts which cannot be conveyed using words alone. If you have the 2.2L engine, check out this visual:
http://media.photobucket.com/image/belt%20routing%20diagram%20sunfire%202.2/fluffy_032/42188358.gif
2.4L engine:
http://www.maybenow.com/External.aspx?url=http://files.automotiveforums.com/gallery/watermark.php%3ffile%3d/500/1724872200.JPG
You will find that the tensioner in this photograph is indicated by a lovely red arrow.
Now it should be noted that the engine you are most likely concerned with will still be surrounded by thousands of pounds of Pontiac, so these visuals should be used as a guide only. I hold no responsibility for your lack of ability to find a tensioner on an engine still mounted inside your Sunfish.
5) Grab your socket wrench with 15mm adapter (13mm for the 2.4L) and find your belt removal tool, which I'm sure you've already purchased from your local car parts shop. If not, either buy one, or sack up and do this without it.
6) Using some elbow grease, turn the tensioner in a clockwise direction and weasel the gargantuan rubber band off of the engine while it's all loosy-goosy like. Better yet, grab a buddy and make him hold the tensioner while you take care of the rubber band yourself. Makes life easier for you.
7) Get that thing back on before going for a spin, Jack. If you feel like driving without it, at least put it on Youtube. Make sure you adhere exactly to the belt routing diagram which I have linked for you. A properly executed serpentine belt replacement leaves you with a sense of accomplishment, so you might as well put your all into it and make sure it's a job well done.
I sincerely hope that this will be helpful to somebody :)
Where is the horn relay on a 1984 corvette located?
Step 1.Save yourself some time by first making sure your horns work. Dont use a power lead finder. There is too much resistance in it and even if your horns are good the horn wont sound. Take a heavy gauge jumper wire from the + side of the battery, directly to the horn terminal. Both of my horns didnt sound when tested like this. One was dead and the other came to life when I adjusted the horn diaphragm screw.Step 2.Check the steering wheel horn button. Yeah I know, the horn button goes down and it feels like it makes contact, but trust me finding the horn relay is the toughest part of making your horns work. This is easier to do than write about. To remove the horn button, set the steering wheel so that the Chevrolet symbol is straight up and down, then setup a garage light or have a friend hold a flashlight on the horn button. You should see a black flat stem (its plastic so be gentle) at top center of the horn button, take a butterknife or similar thin flat tool and gently press in towards the center of the steering wheel. At the same time with your other hand pull gently up until the plastic locking tab is free. If you break one of these tabs, you need to re-order from the junkyard or online vette supplier. There are 3 of these, you can probably free up the other 2 just using you hand or tool as needed to remove the horn button. The horn contact plate is now exposed and has 4 plastic locking tabs kind of like the horn button. Pull up on the horn contact plate and remove it with your tool like you did the horn button. Your horn grounding lead wire is connected to the horn contact plate so don't yank on the horn contact plate. Once the horn contact plate is free of the steering wheel, disconnect the horn grounding wire.If you break a plastic locking tab on the horn contact plate don't panic. You can place u-shaped fast speed nuts on the steering wheel and Phillips drive screws with a carriage bolt type head to secure the horn contact plate. I just had to extend the holes left by the broken plastic tabs about 1/4" each towards the center of the plate. Cant use carriage bolts cause of the square shank and there's nothing to tighten.Once the horn contact plate is clear of the steering wheel, take the horn grounding lead wire and make sure you touch it to metal. My vette's horns sound without turning on the key at this point. If the horn doesnt sound, turn the key on as if the car was running, if the horn again doesnt sound try the key in the accessory mode. If your horn does sound, the trouble is the horn button & horn contact plate. If your horn doesnt sound the trouble is in the horn relay. Leave the horn contact plate out until you replace the horn relay, just to make sure you don't have to work on you horn button also. The reason my horns didnt work is because the horn contact plate is plastic and even though it has re-inforcement to keep it straight, the center of the contact plate over time had bowed away from the contact button. You can either send away for the button & contact assembly or fix it yourself. Drill a small hole in the silver metal of the contact plate. Place a small Phillips drive machine screw with the head type described earlier, the head faces the brass contact point, threw the hole you drilled and secure with small lock washer and nut. This shortens the distance from the brass contact point to the silver metal contact point. Sometime during all this I hope you burnished/sanded all horn contact points. Once the contact points are cleaned use silicon dielectric grease on all the contact points. After you have installed your heightened contact point on the "clean" horn contact plate, connect your horn button to the contact plate. If you don't have one, go to radio shack and buy an analog, not digital volt ohm meter. Make it cheap, tell the sales person you're only going to measure the 12 volts for your car battery. Take your horn button with you. Have them show you how to set up the meter for resistance to test your assembled horn button. No pressure, the needle stays still, press the horn button & the needle moves over. Have them show you how to measure 12 volts DC and reverse DC voltage. Have them use one of their cheapo give away dc batteries. With the meter set up for 12 volts DC you can measure voltage going to each horn. The meter is probably cheaper that sending away for parts & shipping.Step 3.We are now to the point where you have done all of the above and your horn still doesntsound off. My vette is an automatic so the first thing you have to do to remove the horn relay is set the parking break. Next move the transmission lever to the rear at 1.Remove the Center Console Framing. Pull the right side of the frame out like you are opening a book, you will also have to pull the left side down so that you can clear the top 3 or 4 inches of the left side retaining panel. The Horn Relay is located behind the "Oil Pressure" instrument panel assembly which is above the radio. Once the instrument panel is removed you will see a fuse on the left side of the left hand partition. check the fuse. The relay is on the left side of the right hand partion. Pull the relay and base out of the metal retaining clip. Then using both hands to pull back the retaining tabs and at the same time exterting force to separate the relay base from the horn relay, remove the relay.Naturally I had to tear apart the area under my steering wheel, then pulled out my radio, all of the previous were not necessary, then with the sound of Chevrolet engineers laughing in the back of my head, I said why not the oil pressure panel. Bingo!! But imagine the swearing that happened with everything torn apart only to find that my horn button was the cause all the time. Curses to engineers that never work on their product. But I still like my Vette !!
How do you change fog light bulb on Chevy 2004 Colorado?
It is my understanding (owner of 2004 Z71 LS Crew Cab) that you are not able to change out the bulb. Chevrolet appears to have designed this fog light with a built in plastic housing integral to properly aiming the light. I have looked all over the web and found only replacement "full assembly" lights. Some online parts suppliers offer good deals (i.e., $45) much less than the approximatley $95 dealerships are asking. Hope this helps.
2002 grand prix getting poor gas mileage?
There are many reasons that your GP could be getting poor gas mileage. You have to start with regular maintenance items and go from there: 1. What condition is your Air Filter in?(It should be clean enough to see light through it) 2. Have you used fuel injector cleaner or had your injectors cleaned by someone? 3. How old are your spark plugs? (If you don't know--replace them) 4. Do your tires have proper inflation? (they can be low but look fine) These are some of the primary things you need to take care of. If all of these are taken care of then you may have bad Oxygen sensors. They degrade over time but still reduce emissions enough and work well enough to pass emissions tests and NOT light the SES light. But they DO cause bad gas mileage even when you don't get any other symptoms. I've had O2 sensors go bad at 40k miles. The only real way to tell if that is the problem is replace them. The dealer and most mechanics can't or won't tell you they are causing the problem.
How do you change tail light on a 1999 Volkswagen Beetle?
I have a 2003 beetle and it took me forever to figure it out. By the time I did I decided to take pictures of it and put it on the web to help others. Volkswagen is getting more and more complicated for us "volks". My website can be found at: http://www.uahardwick.com/tech/2006/03/how-to-change-taillight-on-new-beetle.htm
How do you turn off the interior lights when a door is open on a 1997 Ford Explorer?
On my 96 XLT, after a few minutes with door open it goes out automatic, I was carry something that the door had to be open and I started the Explorer and sat there for a few minutes and started driving and it went out. (Time of waiting approxiately up to 4 minutes sometimes before going out but not always)
AnswerI had a hard time figuring out how to turn off the interior light of my '91 xlt when the rear hatch was up until I manually closed the door latch on the driver's side (just press the claws in till they click). That shut off the light, but don't forget to open the latch before you shut the hatch AnswerThe easiest way is to just pop open your fuse box located inside the driver door on the dash unit and pull fuse #27.In my explorer, I'm going to put in a switch to shut off the dome lights. I don't know why there isn't a way of shutting them off otherwise, its quite annoying. How do you replace the fog lamp assembly on a 2001 Ford Escape?
you first have to remove the tire and wheel. Then remove about 4 bolts, 1 screw and 4 plastic things on the inner plastic fender to get into where both the fog light and turn signal are.
How do you fix the airbag alarm on a Ford Escape?
When the airbag alarm goes off, it means that something is wrong. A person can change the fuse, or go see a tech specialized in this area to fix it.
