How do you adjust the parking brake on a 1992 Buick Regal?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

I had an 88 buick regal and the e-brake pedal on the left front lower part of the driver side compartment was "pump to set". In other words, pumping the pedal and releasing several times is supposed to automatically adjust the e-brake, providing everything is working properly. As with mine, I replaced the rear calipers many times because they were a bad design and always got mucked up back there being so exposed to the elements. Where the e-brake cables attatch to the caliper was always freezing up because of dirt and debris. Make sure your e-brake cables really are good and free, then lubricate the hell out of the spring and attatching assy on the caliper. The calipers need to function properly too. If they are sticking, then it may have an affect on the e-brake assy. It's always best to use the e-brake often, as many automatics w/e-brake are seldom used and freeze up. Good luck.

Why wont the key lock or unlock the drivers side door but it does lock and unlock through the trunk how do you fix it?

User Avatar

Asked by Feliciatheel

It can't be the valet key because the valet key works the opposite...It opens the doors but not the trunk. That model car has almost like a "double lock" on the trunk. If you put the non-valet key in the trunk keyhole and turn the key all the way to the right and remove the key while turned all the way to the right it will lock and re-lock the trunk to where the valet key will not be able to open it. They made it that way so you can lock pesonal items in your trunk, keep the original key, give the valet the valet key, and the valet cannot open the trunk. You might want to check the lines for the central lock system by the Drivers side door for a leak. That system is ran by a pneumatic pump located under the back seat. Does the key work in the front passenger's door? If so then its probably the actual lock on the drivers side door. Hope this helped you out.

AnswerI think you are using the valet key. Answer:Drivers side door is the most used lock so it wears out faster. On my 190-E it seams the key goes in to far and won't work. But I'm willing to bet if you slide the key in slowly and turn it lightly you can get the drivers side door to unlock every time.

Hope this helps.

When this happens it is usually one of three things:

1) You have a bad key/lock: If it is not the valet key and the key unlocks other doors this is probably no the case. It is not likely that the tumblers in the lock have worn down but it is possible that the lock is dirty or is not lubricated right. I would first start by spraying WD-40 into the lock and on the locking mechanism that actually locks the door (the claw that hold the door shut) If this does not work then...

2) You have a bad linkage. Inside the door everything is attached and at times it comes apart or dislodged. Sometimes you can have a plastic retaining piece or or attaching piece that has become brittle. You can take off the door panel and get a good idea of how thing work by moving the inside handle or using the power locks. If every thing is connected in the linkage then...

3) You have a bad actuator. This is the actual electronic piece that locks and unlocks the door. I is usually on the inside left bottom (if looking from the inside). It can wear out and allow certain parts of the lock to work (ie key less entry, inside door handle, power locks) while giving difficulties to other part (ie the key) I hope that this helps.

Answer:

It is a very simple repair, there is a broken spring on the lock. Go to the hardware store and buy a spring that has long ends. You will need to remove the door panel and locate the linkage that comes off the inside door handle and trace it over to the door lock ( it should have a yellow plastic end on it just below the lock) connect one end of the spring to it then the other to the clip that holds the lock in the door this should correct your problem. If the spring is to tight it will prevent the lock from working, readjust the spring and try again.

I was unable to ad a pic to help, if you need it contact and I will email it to you.

I sure this will correct your problem.

What is the cylinder compression supposed to be on a 1991 explorer v6?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

Don't know what it is supposed to be but I had mine checked because I thought that I had one low. All 6 cylinders were between 145 and 150 psi and my engine is in good shape. I turned out that one of my spark plug leads was leaking. I do know that all cylinders should be within about 10 - 15psi of each other.

You get no sound from radio and scans constantly have swapped radios 2 other Taurus and your radio works in other car you get the same results with the swapped radio?

User Avatar

Asked by Rob98028

Your antenna lead-in is broken, and the radio isn't getting any signal. That's why

it keeps scanning and can't hear anything. Check the connection from the antenna

to the cable, and if that's OK, then you'll have to replace the cable from the antenna

to the radio.

You did connect the antenna to it when you were checking it in the first car, right ?

You can quickly test this hypothesis: With a radio in the first car, where no radio works,

connect the power, but don't connect the car's antenna to it. Instead, stick the end of

a different piece of wire ( 3 to 6 ft long) into the center hole of the antenna connector

on the radio, and see if that makes it possible for the radio to start hearing things.

What would cause a howling sound out of air cleaner in a explorer sport v6?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

The howling sound is coming from the mass air flow sensor, this is so common in Ford vehicles they have even given it a name they call it the ("Moose in the intake") it is caused by the 2 metal blades in the metal air flow body that connects to your air filter box, the mass air flow sensor is the little black box that sits on top of the metal air flow body, it has a electrical plug in that when working properly opens and closes the 2 metal blades, but when it goes bad, the blades not opening to allow for proper air flow causes the howling sound you are hearing, Ford wants anywhere from $100-$200 for this mass air flow sensor, but they are commonly found in salvage yards for about $50 bucks, you get the whole assembly so there is no need to try and take the little black box off of the metal body, the whole proceedure takes all of 5 minutes and requires just 1 Phillips head screw driver.

check to make sure the two tabs of the air cleaner box are in there grooves. you probably will find that one or both are not causing it to suck air, making the howling sound.

Which sensor is b2s1 on 1999 Ford Explorer?

User Avatar

Asked by Wiki User

I'm not a mechanic / technician but I assume that would be :

Bank 2 , sensor 1

Bank 2 is the drivers side of the engine in a 1999 Ford Explorer

Sensor 1 would be the oxygen sensor somewhere in the exhaust before the exhaust enters the catalytic converter ( upstream sensor )
