How low can brake fluid go down?
It can go all the way down to empty, but should never be allowed to get below "add".
Short answer, no they shouldn't. If you are certain there are NO leaks, and I assume you mean you replaced the pads on the brakes 100 miles ago, then you need to further examine the brake system. Strictly speaking from a fluid mechanics/physics problem a closed system that contains fluid and is under pressure will not spontaneously lose pressure without another outside force, ie leaking or expanding brake tubing or compressible fluid. The second option is HIGHLY unlikely, and the third does not happen. Go through and start from the master cylinder and check for any leaks again sometimes the smallest one can cause a loss of pressure. if it still leaks, then I would say you need to bleed you system, do some minor adjustments and bleed your brakes and this should take care of the problem. hope this helps
There is another way the pedal will go to the floor. (I have had this problem, and there was no leak.) If your master cylinder is messed up, it can let the pedal go to the floor. When you press on the pedal, the master cylinder increases the fluid pressure in the break lines. However, if it is not working properly, it can cause the pedal to go to the floor, by not producing the pressure.
You can also have a problem with the vacuum booster. I am, however, unsure how to test them.
How to adjust the Emergency brake cable on 1999 E-350 Ford With disc Brakes?
I know that there is a black cable underneath the car. You could see one running to the fron brakes and another to the back. In the middle you will be able to see where the 2 cables join. To tighten you have to adjust the slack on it one way. To loosen, you go the other way. Hope this helps.
I have this same problem and thought it was the switch because it was buzzing when I pressed it. I went to the dealer to get a replacement and he said that he's replaced hundreds of motors, but never a switch. Pig-headed as I am, I ordered the new switch and installed it. Turns out, the parts manager was correct. I'm in the process now of analyzing the job of replacing the motor. I looks like just a few bolts and an electrical connection, but it's hard to tell w/o the manual b/c everything is behind sheet metal once the panel is removed.
Why the emergency brake light does not come on when emergency brake is applied?
The light on the dash that says the emergency brake light is on could have burned out if it does not light up when the emergency brake is actually on. In some vehicles, this light will not light up until the car is put into gear to warn the driver that the emergency brake is still on.

You have a bad ground.
The sockets the bulbs go into have a reliabilty problem where the ground disconects inside.
If more than one light is doing this then the ground wire is not contacting the body or frame any more. Rather than crawl under the car for two hours trying to find the faulty conection I usually make another ground point myself.
Gas gauge reads empty even when tank is full?
Defective in tank sending unit or the float has a hole in it and it's full of gas and stays at the bottom of the tank sending a false reading. Usually it's the latter issue. Floats cost about $8.00 at Napa.
It could also be the fuel pump wiring harness is corroded. It is under the car (exposed to the elements), just behind the driver's seat. My gas gauge has been flaky for a couple of years. Now the fuel pump cuts out occasionally and I have to reach under and wiggle the harness to be able to start the car.
