1996 Taurus pcm will not communicate with scan tool you have checked fuses and pcm and power to dlc?
If you have continuity from the DLC back to the PCM on all the pins that it should, and the PCM has power and ground everywhere it is supposed to, you probably need a PCM. Before I throw a PCM at it though, I would make extra sure that you have checked all of the stuff that I spoke of first. Remeber the PCM will have more than one power and more than one ground input.
What if your 98 windstar dies when you come to a stop but not all the time any ideal's?
It could be a faulty Intake Air Control valve, a vacumm leak, or a faulty transmission torque converter lock up slenoid. The most likely are the first two I listed.
Differnct Respondent: I'm a 1998 Windstar owner and had a similar problem. Van would stall out occasionally following stop. Took it to dealer and they did some sort of clean out of the air intake cavity and fuel injectors. I don't recall exactly but cost was prbably less than $200 and Van no longer stalls out
Where is the Heater control valve for a 1997 ford windstar?
Temperature control in most Ford vehicles these days is through the use of a "temperature blend door" mechanism. This door/flapper adjusts the amount of air that passes through the heater core that is then mixed into the air blown into the cabin.
This door is moved by a small actuator motor - which in the case of Windstars, is a very common failure point.

Why wont my 2003 Chrysler Town and Country crank but not start?
I had the same problem with my t&c, if you have the digital dash look and see if the odometer lights up when cranking. if not i swift pound on the dash right above the gauges usually works. (I found that on another help site and it worked for me)
forget about it --if it broke off in the dipstick tube it has fallen into the oil pan - there is no way it will get past the oil filter screen in the pan (daddmac) GFish: Tack weld a nut onto the end of the dipstick tube, Than turn the tube with a ratchet, until it either comes out, or collapses, you may choose to used either PB lubricant during this procedure, or take a can of compressed air ( computer keyboard cleaner ) and carefully spray the stuck part while holding the can upside down.( This deep freezes the part to well below sub zero temperature.)
Make sure you have a good ground
How do you repair or stop the paint on your van from peeling?
My own experience is that the peeling is the clearcoat layer of paint. Once it starts, there really isn't much to do beside a re-paint job.
Waxing over it in the meantime provides some modest cosmetic improvement, but it won't last long.
Where is the electronic control module for a 1998 Dodge Durango?
Dodge uses what is called a "Powertrain Control Module" or PCM this is located on the PASSENGER SIDE inner fender just behind the air box where your air filter is. It will be aluminum colored and looks like a flat box.
Why is my vehicle's defrost blowing cold air when set at warm?
If the temperature cannot be changed for any of the direction settings, e.g., defrost, vents, floor, then the problem is very likely to be the blend door actuator motor.

What could be causing the engine to surge on a 94 Geo Metro at warm idle?
It could be a faulty mass air flow sensor. Just lightly tap the intake pipe with it running and if it changes the idle up or down, that's most likely your culprit. Before you buy one, check all of your connections and make sure they're clean and tight. You may also have a vacuum leak on the intake somewhere.
What happens if your engine overheats?
You can blow a head gasket or the head can crack or be warped.
Ford Windstar OBD2 trouble code P0301 - is it always cylinder 1?
p0301 is cylinder 1 miss fire detected, this means there could be a bad wire, sparkplug, or coil to number 1 cylinder.
Yes, P0301 will always point to the #1 cylinder.
The pattern is P030x = a cylinder misfire, and x = the cylinder number that is misbehaving.
So any P0301-P0312 always represents misfires

How do you change 3 rear spark plugs of 1999 Ford Windstar?
I have a 2000 SE with the 3.8 Liter engine. It is a real pain getting to the rear plugs, but I found that I had to remove the throttle body and air bellows to get your right hand around back on the right (as you are looking at it from the front bumper) side. There is already barely enough room on the other side for your left arm. First thing to do is use compressed air to clean out the plug wells. You will have to lay over the front hood latch area and you can get each arm around the engine to work blind. You can fit a mirror there to help locate things, but you will be working blind for the most part. Getting the boots off is a little painfull, but feel with one hand to locate each boot and twist and pull with the other. For the plugs, I used a 3/8" breaker bar for best control and a short extension to the plug socket. There is room back there to swing the handle as needed and the breaker bar provides a little more torque with less effort. It is handy to have either a little handle on the extension or a stubby ratchet to get the plug out by hand once you have broken the torque. The first time, it took me a couple of hours to get to them for inspection, but the next day, I was able to replace them in about 1/2 hour. It ain't pretty, but you basically have to lay over the hood latch and engine to reach around there to work. Fortunately, the plugs are platinum and can last 100K miles so you should only have to do them once or twice. Good luck with it. Chuck the driveway mechanic. A better alternative is to remove the two-piece cowl below the windshield. You will have to remove the wiper arms, but you will have much more room to work. ++ added info ++ Removing the cowling and wiper mechanism is a must. The wiper is attached to the cowl, the washer hose has to be disconnected. A small puller gets the arms off the mechanism posts. Also some of the vacuum hosing can be removed, instead of damaging it as you yank and pull on wires. If replacing the plugs at 100,000+ miles, why not do the wires at the same time. For all the trouble, its good preventative maintenance. Take care to note the order they assemble on the coils and match their lengths. Use silicon on boots at the plugs and at the coils too.
What is the average cost of fixing the transmission in a 2000 Ford Windstar?
I just paid 1800.00 for a rebuilt tranny for my 2000 windstar. I paid $1600 for a complete overhaul after my 2001 Windstar stopped moving (except downhill and a push).

To remove the quick clip connectors you can buy a disconnect tool thru LISLE tool company. Try this ;grasp the ears of the clip and squeeze them together then push them in toward the filter and quickly pull them apart with the same motion and the connector will come off.

How do you know your are having fuel pump problems?
The only way to know for sure is to first check fuses for the fuel pump system. Replace the fuse(s) regardless if they look OK. Then if the car does not start, you will need to pull the fuel line loose under the hod and after putting the loose end into a container, have someone turn on the key to see if the pump is pushing fuel out. If not, then I would probably guess that the fuel pump may be faulty and needs replaced. But, when you do remove the fuel pump, have it tested..it may be OK and there may be some other electrical issue to deal with. Always keep in mind that you car needs three things to run...Fuel...air...Spark.
I may mean that a module governing your transmission is not functioning properly. We had a similar thing happen when the downshifting occurred spontaneously. Replacement of a $350 electronic board solved the problem.
More simply, you probably only need to replace the Vehicle Speed Sensor (VSS). On my Windstar the speedometer would go to 0 and then would not shift out of low, too. This only happened when the sensor got hot; once it cooled it would work normally again...for a while. I replaced the $25 VSS and it has worked fine since.
Could a hose be leaking or loose from the engine on a 1991 BMW 318i causing it to overheat?
well if something is leaking and your engine is overheating i assume coolant is leaking from your car. that in a matter of speaking is a good thing since you know what the problem is, now you have to find the leak, you could visually look and see were the leak is, however the best way would be to pressure test the cooling system and find the leak that way, luckily you have a very simply engine and repairs are done very easily, once you find the leak, like a hose or radiator, or what ever it is, then the engine is set up simply enough that any mechanically inclined person should be able to figure out how to remove and replace defective part. fill up cooling system and bleed system. pressure check again to verify no leaks are present. test drive and verify proper driving operation. good luck..
