You didn't say how old your son is, but if he is a minor you bet you can nail his little butt. First off, threatening to burn down your house is not a normal thing to do so it's important you get some help for him. It's obvious you'd need two large horses and 2 large men to drag him to a psychiatrist, so the best thing to do is talk to your doctor and tell him about the threats. The next time your son threatens you, (as hard as this may be) call the police and make a formal complaint and have him taken away in handcuffs. Then start the legal system working in your favor. By having him arrested and formal charges of threats and bodily harm laid against you, the legal system can then get him the help that he needs. As a mother I know this is almost unthinkable, but look at it this way ... one day he will set your house on fire. If he isn't a minor you can still do the same as above. This time charges will be more severe and he could get jail time. Never mind what it does to his reputation. He is not about to get the help he needs and he will get it if jailed. He could be on drugs for all you know. In fact, I just saw a program on what steroids do to young men (especially those in football or basketball) and the coaches hinting for these kids to take steroids because they need to "bulk up." Steroids like most other drugs are quite easy to get over the internet with no questions asked. Steroids cause rages in young men and also can lead to severe depression and suicide. Street drugs can do the same thing. Before you go ahead with the above, please speak to your doctor, then go to the police department and talk to them. Ask them what will happen if you are willing to press charges. You don't want him getting out and harming you. I hope you seriously think of this and please, please get that help for your son. I had this problem when my civic was in a front end collision. I opened the hood and pounded out the dents with a rubber mallet, but then the hood wouldn't latch. The hood is curved and by pounding out the dents in the front, i had bent the front of the hood upwards, making it impossible for the latch to fully engage. I solved the problem with a few well placed mallet blows near the middle of the hood, which brought the front end of the hood back into its more natural position.

This might not be the optimal solution if you hood isn't already banged up, but it might set you in the right direction.

When astronomer Edwin Hubble observed the stars, he noticed that almost all stars are moving away from Earth(seen by red-shift of the observed light coming from the stars). If all stars are moving away from each other, it must mean that at one point, all these stars and everything else were concentrated at a single point. It was then concluded that the Big Bang threw out all matter into space.

One of the universal laws that is a major pillar of modern theoretical physics is known as the 2nd Law of Thermodynamics. Simply put, it states that over time, entropy, or disorder, only increases over time, and never decreases. Basically, as the universe expands (as it is doing now and for the last 15 billion years or so), there can only be more disorder and never less. If you have a messy desk and take some time to straighten it up and organize it well, you have lessened the dissorder on your desk, but you have increased the disorder in your body and around you by using fuel in your body to produce the energy to move your arms to straighten your desk. This also produces heat around you which causes the molecules in the air near you to become more disordered. If matter becomes more disordered over time, then time is affecting matter. The only way matter can affect time is at a singularity, or the center of a black hole where all physics that we know of break down. One can say time is affected here because time basically does not exist here. Gravity is just too strong at a singularity for anything as we know it to continue on a "world path" or time, except the singularity itself. It's a the point of a singularity that Hawkin suggested "wormholes" could possibly exist. These would be tunnels through time but it's not clear if one could ever exist in one to travel in time.
