What makes engine not start after running for fifteen minutes?

I had this problem with two cars, Grand Prix 2001 w/3.8L and my 1985. With the Grand Prix, it was a little difficult to start after the engine was hot and I turned it off. The fuel rail was bad, low suction and wasn't pulling in the gas in. It was rebuilt for about $100 yet I had a feeling all they did was replace a rubber hose they had left hanging off from my last visit. With the Audi 5000S Turbo, after the engine was hot, if I turned it off to run into the store, house, etc. and came back a few minutes later it would not start easily. Eventually it would but not easily. The issue here, carbon build up on the back side of the inlet values. When they got hot the carbon expands like a sponge, right where the gas sprays before getting sucked into the chamber but instead soaked into the carbon. Using Chevron's Techtron every other month seemed to help a little but not like I wished. However, I now use this about twice a year in my Pontiac to keep the spray jets and values clean, seems to work the best out of anything on the market.

How do you remove the driver side door panel on a 2001 Pontiac Grand Am?

take out the screws, one under the handle/armrest, one under the reflector on the bottom of the door, then one that holds the bezel on the actual latch you pull to open the door.

Then there is one more you need to take out, but, ya gotta look for it, i don't remember quite were it was. Its under the door panel i think that ya gotta pop the panel with the window and lock controls off to get to it. After that start at the bottom and tug till it pops of working from the bottom to the top then you lift it up to get it off. Be careful not to rip and wires loose.

its easy take ya 5 minutes

How do you turn off the service engine soon light on a 2004 Chevrolet Venture?

Many GM vehicles have a box near the battery with a bunch of fuses. Pull the cover so that you can see the fuses, look for a button that says "oil" or something similar. With the key on and the engine NOT running, push and hold the button for about 10 seconds. If yours is different, look in the operators manual for instructions.

How to remove rear car speaker covers in a 2001 grand am gt?

You can't - the speaker covers are not meant to be removed from the package tray (you'll understand when you see the under side of it). Drop the back seats down, pull out the 4 plastic push-in "screws", and pull the whole tray out. You'll have to bend it a little.

What is the average mileage to which a transmission on a 2002 sedan be replaced?

There is no "correct" answer for this. Mileage is just one factor to use in determinign the life of an auto transmission. Some transmissions last for many many miles, and others do not. The big factor is how much regular maintenance and service the trans has seen. Routine fluid and filter changes are important. Also if the transmission was used to tow heavy trailers. The enemy of transmissions is HEAT. Heat destroys the fluids which are inside the tranny. The fluid is pumped inside the tranny to cause the tansmission to turn. The fluid flows throughotu the tranny and when it begins to lose it's lubrication properties or is heated to the place where it loses it's protective additives, then the trans wears out quickly. A "burnt" transmission has a unique smell to it. A transmission that has an added cooler and has pulled trailers should be in better condition than a stock tranny with the usual small tranny cooler. Soem transmissions last longer just because they are built better. Some tranmissions are abused when driver's change directions from drive to reverse without completely stopping first. Maybe if you can better ascertain how the tranny was cared for before looking at mileage as a factor, it will give you a better idea of when it will need changed. I had a Toyota Camry that went 289,000 with the original trnsmission, never a problem because it was maintained and serviced regularly. One other factor is hwo many miles a year th eavg person drives. Some say it's 12,000 per year, some say 15,000. So if you are looking at a tranny with 60,000 to 75,000 miles on it, and it has been cared for, you "should be" okay. More than 100,000 and abused.............look out.

Why does your 1970 Ford Maverick keep cranking sometimes even when you take out the key from the ignition?

Sounds liek your ignition switch is bad. Instead of it turning to the off position and disconnecting the electrical power to the coil which kills the engine, yours is staying in the STart or crank position allowing the currect to continue to flow. You may be able to spray some electrical contact cleaner in the ignition switch and solve the problem, but if it is the original switch, you may be lookign at replacing it since it is 36 years old and in time they do wear out and get gunked up.

What size gas tank for 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix?

18 Gal. I have this car myself.

I own a 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix and it has a 17 gallon tank. Read the cars owners manual,....it lists everything about the car in there.

Why can you only ever put in 14 gals of gas into your 1999 Pontiac Grand Prix GT coupe when the manual says it holds 18 gal?

1) you have never driven it until the tank is completely empty. 2) as it gets close to full gas can't leave the filler tube at the same rate causing the overflow valve in the pump to shutoff. Try filling at a slower rate at the end. 3) If it's a metal tank it migh have gotten buckled one way or another so that it can't hold the full volume any more. 4) the documentation is wrong 5) or your car isn't like all of the other cars. I should have included in the question that the reason for filling the tank is that the fuel gage reads empty, the audible signal has beeped & the word "Low" is permanently displayed on the dash computer. True I have never driven until the engine stopped, but I would not expect an "empty" reading to show when there were so many gallons left according to the manual.
