Bad head gasket or... Crack in exhaust port in head. Check exhaust for presence of antifreeze smell or exhaust gas in radiator.
Changing coolant on 1987 Pontiac fiero gt?
Place a pan under the drain valve on the radiator (back side of the radiator, right side) Reach up and open the valve letting the coolant out. (It is meant to be turned by hand, but you might need a pliers) After the coolant has started draining open the radiator cap to allow air into the radiator. Go back to the engine and open the thermostat cap (Large cap that looks like a radiator cap, has a two step turn - push and turn again removal). Remove the thermostat located under the cap by grabbing it, turning it to break the seal and pulling it up.
To fill - close the drain valve on the radiator. Leave the radiator cap off and start filling by pouring the coolant into the (still open) thermostat cap. Note - the thermostat needs to be still removed. Have an assistant watch at the radiator and when it gets full he needs to quickly put the radiator cap back on. Then continue to fill at the thermostat cap till the engine is full. Now start the car and let the coolant circulate, refilling at the thermostat cap when the coolant has dropped. After the car has warmed up, and all of the coolant bubbles have come out, fill the coolant to the top of the thermostat cap housing, replace the thermostat and cap and fill the reserve tank to the warm mark.
Why is the Engine coolant temperature gauge not working?
Check the wire to the sensor and be sure it is hooked up. If so remove it from the sending unit. Turn the ignition and have someone watch the gauge while you ground it to the engine. If it moves the sender is bad.
Where can you get the MSDS sheets for freon R134a?
Freon R134a has different names. It's also known as 1,1,1,2-tetrafluoroethane, HFC-134a, Freon 134a, SUVA-134a Genetron-134a, Forane-134a KLEA-134a. (Depending on the company or manufacturer)
You can easily find the MSDS by searching it as R134A or SUVA 134A, that replaced Freon 12.

What can happen if an engine overheats?
Your Oil curdles, you head gasket may leak anti-freeze into your gas, your head may crack and anti-freeze will get in your oil, the motor may crack open, your pistons may seaze up. Oil- Do a flush with Oil Flusher to clean this up. Gasket - If you are lucky. $300 Canadian. Head - If theres water in your oil, you head is cracked. God forbid. $150CAD for inspection, specific cost to your vehicle for new head. Will have to do both gasket and head in this case at least $1000CAD Motor Crack open - If she's new, replace the motor, if shes old, sell her quick for parts or fixup for someone who has free parts in their back yard.
Why does a car overheat when using the AC and not moving?
to low on antifrezze, or air cond. compressor locked or locking-up, to low on water& antifrezze mix in ratiator, or fan clutch out, fan belt slipping, try the antifrezze amount mixed first and make sure the fluid is circulating good ,if not water pump or stuck thermostat
Cooling fan will not shut off?
The cooling fan will turn off when the temperature drops to normal temperature. When the temperature generated by the device does not cause damage to the device, or when the device is no longer in use, the cooling fan will be turned off.
The above answer is provided by Suzhou Santian Precision Mould Manufacturing Co., Ltd.
Where is the coolant temperature sensor on a 1991 ford F150 5.0L?

Diagram of fan belt for peterbilt diesel truck?
You will be able to find this diagram online. Simply doing a quick image search can help you find the information that you need.
Will the pcm cause the air conditioner to not work?
That will mainly depend on the year of the car. Go to a local parts house and purchase a Haynes manual that is specific to your car.
Why does a cooling fan relay keep blowing out?
It should be well grounded and in a place that it can remain cool. Sometimes the fan can pull too much current and cause the relay to blow.Ê
Check your antifreeze or cooling level this happened to me.
2007 silverado message center says engine hot ac turned off but engine is not running hot?
My 08 sierra had this same message. It wasn't hot and the antifreeze reservoir was full. The thermostat wasn't reading correctly. We had that replaced and so far so good.
What kind of engine? There's steam, gasoline, diesel, 4 stroke, 2 stroke.
Why would a car stall after the radiator fan turns on?
A critical voltage drop probably is occurring at either your fuel pump or the electronic ignition module (computer), when a large current load is being drawn by the fan motor. Wait until it stalls and won't start, and then simply umplug the connector to the radiator fan, and see if this "cures" the problem. If so, then check the voltage at the fuel pump wires or relay (should be at least 12 volts with engine running). The control signal to the relay comes from the ignition computer, which shuts down when a critical low voltage is reached (perhaps 9 volts or so). If the fan motor is the problem, and not turning freely,it would be drawing excessive current flow, and need replacement. Otherwise, the problem may be a corroded wire "take off" from the battery "pos" red wire or battery post, or a bad connection at the fuse block, etc. such that the fan motor is "stealing" current flow downstream from a high resistence connection, leaving insufficient current to run the fuel pump. // Jake

AnswerThis problem is a pain. A 93 sunbird SE with 3.1L did the same thing to my wife and after throwing lots of money on everything like plugs and sensors (from the dealer techs), it came down to a TCC. The car would warm up fine and for the first few miles be ok (on cool days). On warm days the car would run ok until she got into stop and go traffic. The fan would come on (coincidence?)and the car would suddenly shudder and even if she put it in neutral it would stall. The advice of making sure all the wiring is intact as well as the fuses and the fluids checked out is a good idea. There is a Technical service Bulletin with GM. I .Good Luck
What is a TCC?
Answer
Torque Conveter Clutch.
Is it possible to remove an AC compressor in a grand am?
Yes ... they are removable for service or replacement, but they are a system requirement for the Belts and your computer requires it as part of the system.
Because GM went to a sealing washer seal system for later vehicles (including this one), one side of the hose manifold is 'stepped', meaning that it sits slightly higher than the other. Both sides use a 'standard' 5/8 sealing washer (GM, in their infinite wisdom, designed several different sizes and heights). While there may be the appearance of a very slight gap, there actually, of course, can be none if a proper seal is made. The most accurate way to test for a good seal is to use an electronic leak detector. Note: overtightening of the hose manifold hold-down bolt will result in permanent damage to the compressor body. Good luck. SDIgroup
My 3.8L 2000 impala my heater isn't working can anyone help?
I had the same problem, cured it with a new thermostat! If you are mildly handy you can replace it yourself. Thermostats usually cost less than $10-$15 (make sure to get the gasket with it). To find the thermostat housing follow the top radiator hose back to the engine. The housing that the hose is connected to is the housing. It's held on with 2 metric bolts, you will probably need a deep socket, I think there is a pin on the top of one bolt. If you move quickly you can replace the thermostat with out drain the radiator some (make sure the new gasket is in place prior to starting). Once the new thermostat is in place and the housing is tight you will need to start the engine and let it warm up. While it's warming up add some antifreeze mix to the overflow container to replace what you lost. Once the engine is warm, excess air needs to be bleed off. To do that open the brass valve on the thermostat housing a bit. Once antifreeze starts coming out close it. I generally wait a couple of minutes and repeat the procedure. To you lurkers who are in the know, did I leave anything out?
Why should i Have to warm up your car in order to get your manual car to go in gear?
its the same as you engine if you dont let the oils warm up during winter or very cold it will damage transmison.
