1989 jeep Cherokee Laredo having a dashboard and parking light problem and it is not the fuse?

If the dashboard and parking light problem is not being caused by a bad fuse, it may be a wiring problem cause by a broken or loose wire. Another possibility is that the bulbs need to be replaced.

difference between Laredo and renegade besides all that extra chrome, the cj7 Laredo was considered the top of the line. plus the insurance was at the high end.( i know, because i had a few special ordered and the insurance was even higher than my vette).the main thing was all the chrome work. front and rear bumperettes, rims, radiator grill cover with blackpinstriping, all interior gauges, seats were accented with 2 toned silver trimwork, glovebox had Laredo letter applique in silver, shifter knobs had chrome trim, had the extra 2 inch lift, hood tie down and latches were chrome, chrome door handles on the hardtop with deep smoke tinted glass, seats were highback leather as was the center console insert, usually tilt and power steering, premium sound system,20 gal tank instead of the 16 gallon tank, and finally a ball hitch.hope this helps out

What causes a 1999 Harley Davidson EVO to keep running when you turn it off?

You could have carbon build up on the top of your pistons and heads. Try running a higher Octane gas and hotter spark plugs. Have your timing set with a light by somebody that knows how and use the correct gas. it can be caused by your timing being incorrectly set (pre ignition) this would also mean your bike isn't running to it's full potential, a golden rule is , don't play unless you're prepared for some roadside repairs , learn how on someone else's bike

How long should a differential last on my vauxhall vivaro van?

As long as there are no leaks and it never gets low of lubricant modern differentials should last the life of the vehicle. For even more insurance against failure have the lubricant changed at 100,000 miles and install synthetic lube.

Why would a 1995 Honda Civic EX manual trans only overheat when climbing a hill and NOT overheat at other times even with the AC on?

This happens because the ignition timing on your car is too advanced. In addition to overheating while climbing a hill it may also be cackling. To remedy the situation have the ingnition timing retarded. Your Owners manual will indicate what the correct ignition timing should be. I don't know what it is for your car but for my 91 Corolla it was 8 degrees before Top Dead Center. Hope that was of help to you. My mechanic said this happens when the radiator is old, and needs to be replaced. I used a radiator cleaning product to clean out the corrosion, and found pieces of the foil seal from the antifreeze bottle in the pan when I drained it. I drive with the control set to hot on small hills, and turn the fan to high on big hills. This helps a lot! Otherwise - I stay in town on level ground! The thermostat may be causing overheating. If you have removed thermostat, it may also be cause of trouble. The A/C operation in these models have little effect on overheating. The correct timing for this model is 16 digrees before top dead centre. Shahid Rasul email: bkbfsd@yahoo.co.uk

Will 5.2 jeep run 180 degrees out?

NO!!! Do NOT EVEN TRY!!! at 180 degrees out your intake and exhaust valves have switched timing positions, IF you get it started you will burn the valves and the seats. This is the same for ANY V8 engine. (at 180 degrees at the distributor the crank has turned twice or 720 degrees on ANY four cycle engine, but the cam has only turned through half of a rotation or 180 degrees, 180 degrees on the crank equals 90 degrees on the distributor and the cam... not good no matter how you look at it) not only can this damage the valves you run the risk of ignighting the fuel in the intake manifold which at best may juse sound like a shotgun going off but at worse can start an engine fire, ALWAYS be positive that your static timing is correct before trying to start the engine...

On a further note, depending on the year of the engine your timing pulse is detected by a magnetic sensor off the crank itself, so the above conditions shold not be possible, but I have seen shade tree mechanics destroy engines by doing what the manufacturers claimed couldn't be done.

When do you know to change your transfer case in a jeep?

Problem Transfer Kits Solve: When you lift a vehicle over 2 inches you change your drive line angles. This can cause unwanted vibrations. A transfer case drop kit lowers your cross member and helps restore your drive line angles closer to OE specifications.

This is an install guide (with horrible attempts at humor) for a transfer case drop kit on a Jeep. This is a beginner guide, those who are experts already know how to do this, we hope! This covers most aftermarket transfer case drop kits and works on the following vehicles;

1984 - 2001 Jeep Cherokee XJ

1993 - 1998 Jeep Grand Cherokee ZJ

PRE-INSTALLATION MEDITATION: Beginner Level - 10 minutes

Before you start your install you should meditate on these tips - Read and visualize you happily installing your new kit, gather the following items and tools if you have them (if not a local auto store can rent them to you sometimes at no cost): Welder, heavy duty floor jack, super sturdy jack stands, penetrating spray that works, and a good socket and wrench set (vice grips wouldn't be bad either). It might be helpful to have a second person or spotter with you and its nice to have someone to talk to!

DROPPING OF THE CROSS MEMBER: Novice Level - 30 minutes

A. Put the vehicle on a flat dry surface and use appropriate chocking tools for the tires. Don't forget to turn off the motor! Place the transmission in neutral and turn the shop or garage radio on (this step is optional).

B. Liberally spray penetrating lubricant all over the cross member bolts and studs and let sit for a while. How long is up to you but as long as it takes to eat a combo meal is good. Use a rag and wipe up any excess lubricant to prevent the wrench or socket from slipping.

C. Support the transfer case cross member with a transmission floor jack. The jack should be placed on the center of the cross member just below the transmission mount. Remove the 2 bolts, 2 nuts and 2 studs from each side of the cross member. PLEASE NOTE: some cross members have 4 bolts, some have 2 bolts and 2 studs. If yours has 4 bolts this installation will be a lot easier.

NOTE ** - a lot of people say they cannot put these kits on because the have studs instead of bolts coming from the cross member. The studs need to come out. This can be difficult and require a lot of penetrating spray. The easiest way to remove the studs is to weld a nut on there and wrench them off. The next easiest way is to use vice grips.Be careful and do not damage threads. You can always have a professional install this kit or get a buddy to help you.

INSTALLING THE TRANSFER CASE DROP KIT: Novice Level - 30 minutes

A. Slowly lower the cross member 1 1/8 inches or more (depending on the size of your transfer case drop kit) to allow enough room to install the new tube style or bar spacers. You need to be very careful when lowering the cross member as the weight of the transmission and transfer case assembly are on the jack. PLEASE NOTE - safety first and second and third.

B. Place the spacers (see photo for example of the spacers) supplied between the frame and cross member and be sure that all the mounting holes are lined up. You want to make sure that the the bolts will fit through the cross member and into the frame and that the spacers are not impeding access. This step is best with a buddy or you may be running back and forth to each side of the Jeep.

C. Slowly raise the jack up to firmly hold the spacers in place between the cross member and frame. This can be tricky as you don't want anything to shift. The best way to do this is to snug it up just enough so you can move the spacers around but they stay in place once you have them where you want them to be.

D. Using the new bolts (if supplied) or the stock bolts attach a washer onto the bolt and apply thread locker to the threads of the bolt. Insert the new bolt and washer assembly through the stock holes on the cross member and through the transfer case drop kit spacers and torque to 35 foot lbs. Carefully lower and remove the transmission jack and set aside.

POST INSTALLATION TIPS: Beginner 10 Minutes

A. Drive the vehicle for a short distance return to a flat level surface and check the tightness of the bolts and if the cross member has shifted. If there are any problems re-install the kit or remove. I would go to the local gas station and get a drink your probably thirsty after all that.

B. Drive the vehicle for 50 miles and re-torque all bolts. Pat yourself on the back.

Where do you find the crank positioning sensor on a 1991 jeep Cherokee briarwood 4.0 liter?

It is bolted to the transmission bell housing, drivers side, near the top. The bolts advance toward the front of the vehicle. It is nested in a rubber boot and senses teeth on the flywheel to detect top dead center and 180 degrees off TDC.

What is the largest size tires you can put on a 2004 Sierra with out a lift?

I would guess 305's. I recently installed torsion keys on my 03 4WD to level out the vehicle. After I had those installed, I mounted a new set of 285's (supposedly 32's) on mine with a little clearance remaining. I was told if I had chosen the 305's (supposedly 33's), I would've had to do some minor cutting so I could turn the wheel fully. The new 285's were a replacement for 265's that were optional equipment when new. The 245 size should be stock on any new 1500 series. 265/75R16 is the biggest size most tire dealers/installers will put on without having you sign a waiver. Since that is the largest optional size recommended by GMC Charles in Indy I put a set of 31 12.50s on mine no problem.

Why would the courtesy lights trunk light rear window defogger light and key in ignition bell not work on a 1994 Honda Accord?

Burnt out fuses. The fuse panel has markings that indicate which fuse controls which curcuit. Remove the fuses, one at a time and look carefully at them. You are looking for the wire and for a break in the thin wire that runs thru the fuse body. Broken wire means blown fuse. Replace with EXACTLY the same fuse rating, never a higher number. If the fuse blows imediately, you need an electrcial technician, who is expert at diagnosing wireing problems.

How do change cooling fan on a 2002 cherolee Laredo?

There is no such thing as a 2002 Cherokee Laredo. The last year for the Cherokee was 2001, and the last year it came with the Laredo trim was 1992.

I have a 2003 Cherokee Laredo so this awnser makes no sense at all.

Do you have a GRAND Cherokee Laredo? Those are still being made. They are not the same as the Cherokee.

Where is the fuel pump for 1983 Jeep Grand Wagoneer?

tricky to see with all the power options, but its right up on the front of the engine. look on the drivers side, more or less directly beneath the steering pump. it's a sort of flat round shape, with (as far as i can remember) a line coming in the bottom, and one going out the top. you can also just follow the fuel lines that are tucked along the left framerail right near the front, they lead right to it. hope this helps.

This is a good description in addition you can follow the fuel line from the carb down to the fuel pump. it is hidden by the distributor.

How long should toenail polish last?

On average, it lasts two weeks for a two coat pedicure. But if your stockings and shoes do not fit, the effective wear is reduced. Try using a very good polish.

Why would a automatic transmission not hold back going down hill?

because the auto trans will automaticly move to the next gear to compensate for the speed increase. If you really want to slow down going down a hill in an automatic without using the brakes you need to select a different gear, ie:third, second, first, low etc. get it?

My jeep will start but when i try to turn it off it keeps running why is this?

If your vehicle is not wanting to turn off when you turn the key off, it is most likely your ignition switch. The ignition switch is basically not touching the correct spots to communicate with the engine that it needs to shut down.
