Radiator? Plug? turn clockwise Petcock? Turn counterclockwise to close
Where is the radiator overflow tank on a Plymouth Voyager?
It is on the passenger side engine compartment, towards the front grill.
Where is the radiator drain plug located on a 1999 Saturn?
Radiator drain plug is located on the bottom of the radiator on the passanger side. you may have to remove the lower splash shield to gain full access to the plug. to open the plug turn it 180` and pull out.
If you're not loosing fluid then the probable cause is the electric fan sensor which should cut in when the engine temp gets high enough. This is normally fitted to the top or side of the radiator [not sure of position on scoobies]. The easiest test is first to see if the fan will run by disconnecting the two wires from this sensor and connecting them together, the fan should kick in, [or run the engine at approx 2000rpm for 10mins or so until it gets hot enough to get the switch to turn the fan on]. If the fan doesn't run when you use the engine running method then the sensor prob' needs changing, if the fan doesn't run when using the wires connected method then it's a fan fault, may be as simple as a bad/broken connection from fan to frame or broken wire / fuse blown on the feed to the fan. Hope this helps.
Where is the radiator petcock on a Lincoln LS?
it is at the bottom of the Radiator on either the left or the right side...it is a plastic or metal threaded tab
How can you determine why the radiator fans on your 1987 Cadillac Coupe DeVille do not operate?
the sensor that turns them on could be bad or the fan motors them self could be bad
It is possible, however like you said it is temporary. It depends on how bad the leak is. I would suspect it would work, typically the whole will be small enough to work with that type of sealant.
How do you replace the radiator in a 1995 Isuzu Trooper?
Remove the two piece rad shroud, remove fan and fan clutch. Remove both rad hoses, if you have a automatic trans you will need to remove the trans cooler lines. The rad will be easy to remove at this point. The hardest part can be removing the trans cooler lines; a quality flare nut wrench must be used because otherwise you will strip the hex off the line.
Where is the radiator cooling fan sensor on a 1998 cadillac deville concour?
near the thermostat housing
First, un plug the wire at the fan, jump the wire and see if the fan does work. If it does, trace the wire back to the sensor, there are only 2 sensors, 1 for temp gauge, and 1 for the fan.
How much would it cost to repair a radiator leak?
Radiators are priced so low now that it would be hard to find someone to repair it.
When adding Prestone antifreeze to a Chevy Cavalier 1999 do you need to add water also?
Yes. Never add pure antifreeze. Pure antifreeze will actually freeze before a 50/50 mix. Add coolant that is a 50/50 mix of antifreeze and distilled water. You can buy it already pre-mixed.
How do you take out and install a new radiator in a 91' V6 Chevy Camaro Rs?
1. Open drain plug at the bottom of the rad and drain the rad. 2. Remove the fan and its wire connectors. 3. Disconnect the upper and lower rad hoses. 4. If automatic transmission, disconnect transmission cooler lines with correct size FLARE wrench (very important to use a flare wrench, using a regular open wrench will twist the lines). 5. Remove the fan shield if there is one. 6. Remove the rad and shroud by lifting straight up. 7. Install new rad and transfer any fittings from the old one. 8. Connect lines and hoses and fan. 9. Refill rad run and test. If you lost some automatic transmission fluid from the lines, check your ATF level just in case.
1988 Chevy Silverado radiator leaking?
Remove The Radiator And Take It To a Good Radiator Shop. Most Likely Yours Can Be Cleaned And Repaired. When You Reinstall It, Add New Antifreeze Plus Water Pump Lubricant. This Will Help Stop Corrosion. Good Luck
How can you test the cooling pressure system?
The cooling system can be pressurized using a cooling system pressure tester. When engine is cool remove the fill cap and attach the tester, since caps are different styles on many vehicles an adapter may be needed. Pump the tester up until the maximum pressure (most caps have max psi on them) of the cooling sytem is reached. If there is a fast leak the max psi may not need to be obtained before the leak is revealed. There is a video at DenLorsTools.com in the tech article section that shows a pressure tester being used, it also has information about purging air from the cooling system after the leak has been repaired.
How do you drain the radiator coolant on an 1986 Corvette?
there should be a pitcock on bottom of radiator to drain it. or take the bottom radiator hose with motor cold of course .
What is the formula of coolant for cars?
A 50/50 mix of coolant and water generally gives you protection down to 30 degrees below 0 F.
The coolant has to be going somewhere. If you don't see puddles on the ground then the coolant is going through the engine via a bad head gasket or cracked head. Look for evidence of coolant muck (mixed oil and coolant) under the engine oil cap and on the engine oil dipstick. Have the cooling system pressure tested asap. The longer you continue to drive this vehicle, the more it is going to cost to repair.
Do you check the radiator liquid when the cars on?
NO! That would be dangerous.
Cars' coolant systems are pressurized, so if you open the radiator cap while the engine is running, it will spray HOT radiator fluid (water mixed with ethylene glycol, usually) all over you, and sometimes drain the radiator of coolant.
How much does it cost to replacea radiator on a 95 Isuzu Trooper?
It can cost between $60 and $200 to replace a radiator on a 1995 Isuzu Trooper. The cost depends on the brand of the part, and the cost of labor for the person doing the work.
How to do you Replace the water pump on 2005 Chevy Trailblazer?
Removal & Installation
# Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the Precautions section. # Disconnect the negative battery cable. # Drain the engine cooling system. # For 5.3L engines, loosen the air cleaner outlet duct clamps at the throttle body and Mass Airflow/Intake Air Temperature (MAP/IAT) sensor. Remove the bolt and air cleaner outlet duct. # Relieve the belt tension and remove the accessory drive belts or the serpentine drive belt, as applicable. # Remove or disconnect the following: NOTE
For the hoses on some engines, removal may be easier if the hose is left attached until the pump is free from the block. Once the pump is removed from the engine, the pump may be pulled (giving a better grip and greater leverage) from the tight hose connection.
WARNING
Note the positions of all retainers as some engines will utilize different length fasteners in different locations and/or bolts and studs in different locations.
#* Upper fan shroud #* Fan or fan and clutch assembly, as applicable #* Water pump pulley; use a suitable tool to hold the pulley while removing the bolts #* Coolant hose(s) from the water pump #* Water pump retainers #* Water pump from the engine Exploded view of the water pump assembly mounting-4.2L engine

To install: # Clean the gasket mounting surfaces. NOTE
The water pumps on some of the engines covered may have been installed using sealer only, no gasket, at the factory. If a gasket is supplied with the replacement part, it should be used. Otherwise, a 1/8 in. (3mm) bead of RTV sealer should be used around the sealing surface of the pump.
# Apply sealant to the water pump retainer threads. # Install or connect the following: #* Water pump using a new gasket. Tighten the water pump retainers to 89 inch lbs. (10 Nm) for 4.2L engines, or to 30 ft. lbs. (41 Nm) for 4.3L engines. For 5.3L engines, tighten the bolts to 11 ft. lbs. (15 Nm), then to 22 ft. lbs. (30 Nm). #* Coolant hose(s) #* Water pump pulley. Tighten the pulley bolts to 18 ft. lbs. (25 Nm). #* Fan or fan and clutch assembly #* Serpentine drive belt (if equipped) by positioning the belt over the pulleys and carefully allow the tensioner back into contact with the belt. #* V-belts (if equipped) and adjust the tension #* Upper fan shroud #* Negative battery cable # Refill the engine cooling system. # Run the engine and check for leaks.
Why would there be transmission oil in the radiator?
Strong possibility of a blown head gasket. Either do not drive it or driver very slowly and carefully to get it checked. You dont have a blown head gasket, you have a leak in the transmission oil cooler which is inside the radiator. The cheapest way to fix it is to buy a external transmission oil cooler and hook that up to the transmission oil cooler lines which are now going to your radiator. then cap off the two ports on the radiator where the old cooler lines went. Your car will never know the difference, and your transmission will probably last longer as the external transmission oil cooler is vastly supirior to the one inside the radiator.
If the hose blew out while you were driving, and the car overheated, then you could have some serious engine problem. Cracked heads and or blown gaskets that may have cause coolant to inter the engine block. Check the dipstick or under the valve covers to see if it looks milky looking.
How do to replace a radiator in a 1987 Chevy Celebrity All it does is leak water?
To replace the radiator in a Chevy Celebrity:
1. Drain the coolant into a suitable container.
2. Raise the car and support on jack stands as required for your purposes. Most of this can be done from the top. If you do raise the car put chocks at the rear tires.
3. Loosen and remove the radiator hoses, radiator overflow hose. Remove the transmission cooling lines. Unplug wiring if any.
4. Disconnect the coolant fan motor. Remove the 4 screws and work the fan housing out.
5. Remove the torque strut (dog bone) mount from the radiator support bracket. Move it out of the way.
6. Remove the radiator retainer bracket.
7. At this point the radiator should slide up and out. There are two rubber mounts at the radiator pans on the bottom and top of the radiator. Save them for reuse on the replacement radiator.
Installing the replacement radiator is the reverse procedure.
When the radiator is in place and the hoses are back on refill the radiator with coolant and check for leaks. Make sure there is not an air bubble in the block that could cause heating problems. When you are certain there are no leaks start the engine and check for water flow within the radiator. Refill with coolant as necessary. Check for fluid leaks from the transmission cooling lines, repair as needed.
How do you bleed air in cooling system on a 1999 Malibu?
I would suggest the you elevate the front of car (like on a steep driveway) remove the rad cap, start engine and let it idle for about 30 minutes. Keep an eye on coolant level and add to keep it full. Air will bleed out as the thermostat cycles. The above is an excellent answer. You might also look and see if there are any bleeder valves on this engine. If so use them to bleed the system. Also make sure the heater is set to the high temperature setting to remove air from the heater core.
