You need to get a release from the bank for that title to be brought over to you free and clear. There really is no way around getting the loan paid off before you can sell the car.
You may also wish to check your credit rating. They may have a mark against you that will prevent any future loans until this issue is cleared up.

Could be a misfire, which means one or more cylinders are not firing. This could be caused by any number of reasons, from spark plugs to ignition wires to a bad fuel injector. Does it only happen when it is cold? does it shake at idle? It needs to be properly diagnosed, starting with a scan of the computer for trouble codes and sensor values. Guessing and replacing parts that may be good will be much more expensive that the cost of a professional diagnosis. spark plug wires, plugs , coil, injector, etc. Another problem that is commonly overlooked when every engine component seems fine, is a dirty or bad mass air flow sensor.
M., please do not think that the bank is crazy. Why did you pay payments to THAT bank on a loan that that car is collateral for? That's called a perfected lein. That is how you will owe the BALANCE DUE plus repo fees,plus attorney fees, plus auction fees, ect. Sooo, take the car on down to the bank, get this mess over with. You are adding money you owe by playing around with the title deal. You didnt invent this game and your not the first to play. The odds are much worse than a casino that you might win. Good Luck

As the brother has no power over the estate of the deceased he has no right to change the agreement previously agreed upon. Even without a signed title you can file to have a new one issued and depending on your state you can have one granted due to certain circumstance.....if the brother HAS the car and is no longer willing to give you posession for the remaining 500 then he is legally obligated to repay the money paid to his brother for assuming the debt he brother had (owing you the car for payments). Either way you'll need to prove the amount you've paid so far i.e bank statements, cancelled checks or money order receipts. Either way contact a local attorney and ask for a free consultation, they'll tell you what the local laws are.
