How do you know your are having fuel pump problems?

The only way to know for sure is to first check fuses for the fuel pump system. Replace the fuse(s) regardless if they look OK. Then if the car does not start, you will need to pull the fuel line loose under the hod and after putting the loose end into a container, have someone turn on the key to see if the pump is pushing fuel out. If not, then I would probably guess that the fuel pump may be faulty and needs replaced. But, when you do remove the fuel pump, have it tested..it may be OK and there may be some other electrical issue to deal with. Always keep in mind that you car needs three things to run...Fuel...air...Spark.

Check your front tires they might have an uneven lump where the tread is which my cause the steering wheel to be forced one way while driving. Make shure to run your hand over them and don't forget to move the vehicle forward the lump maybe on the bottom.

How do you fix a gas pedal that sticks?

Check the butterfly in the throttle body on the car. It most likely is gummed up with oil and residue from the PCV system. This will cause the butterfly to stick. Clean this out with some carb cleaner and towels and it should take care of the problem. If that doesn't fix it, try to clean and lubricate the throttle cable.

Where is the starter relay on a 1984 Corvette?

I would think that 1984 starter construction, should be very similar to my 1981 starter. The stater relay is set of contacts contain within the Solenoid that is mounted on the side of the stater. Typical solenoid wiring configuration is one large gauge wire (usally coming directly from the battery) and two small gauge wires. The one small wire on the "S" terminal applies power and activates the solenoid when you turn the key, closing the starter relay contacts within the solenoid and applies battery power to stater motor, causing the engine to turn over (crank). Assuming the ignition system is functional and the engine is mechanically operational the engine should run.

Why does your 1995 Saturn sl 5 speed smoke really bad?

Engine oil burning can be the result of many causes.

  • Poorly seated piston rings can allow oil past the piston and into the combustion chamber, resulting in a lot of blue smoke. The piston rings will not seat if there is too much carbon build-up on the piston ring grooves or if the piston rings are just plain worn out, but that is typically caused by inadequate maintenance, specifically too long between oil changes.
  • Damaged or worn valve stem seals can allow oil past the valve stems and it can be sucked into the combustion chamber along with fuel.
  • A sticking fuel injector can result in too much fuel in the combustion chamber, causing the film of oil to wash off the cylinder walls and result in smoke.
  • Too much fuel can also cause black smoke, which is the result of running "rich".
  • A dirty air filter can result in too little air and again can cause the engine to run rich.
