Is it illegal in Arizona to not use your turn signal when turning?

It depends.

ARIZONA REVISED STATUTES REGARDING LANE CHANGES AND TURN SIGNALS

28-729. Driving on roadways laned for traffic

If a roadway is divided into two or more clearly marked lanes for traffic, the following rules in addition to all others consistent with this section apply:

1. A person shall drive a vehicle as nearly as practicable entirely within a single lane and shall not move the vehicle from that lane until the driver has first ascertained that the movement can be made with safety.

safe

  • not likely to be hurt or harmed in any way : not in danger

  • not likely to be lost, taken away, or given away

  • not likely to involve danger, harm, or loss

2. On a roadway that is divided into three lanes, a person shall not drive a vehicle in the center lane except when overtaking and passing another vehicle where the roadway is clearly visible and the center lane is clear of traffic within a safe distance, or in preparation for a left turn or where the center lane is at the time allocated exclusively to traffic moving in the direction the vehicle is proceeding and is signposted to give notice of the allocation.

3. Official signs may be erected directing slow-moving traffic to use a designated lane or designating those lanes to be used by traffic moving in a particular direction regardless of the center of the roadway, and drivers of vehicles shall obey the directions of every sign.

28-754. Turning movements and required signals

A. A person shall not turn a vehicle at an intersection unless the vehicle is in proper position on the roadway as required in section 28-751, or turn a vehicle to enter a private road or driveway or otherwise turn a vehicle from a direct course or move right or left on a roadway unless and until the movement can be made with reasonable safety. A person shall not so turn any vehicle without giving an appropriate signal in the manner provided by this article in the event any other traffic may be affected by the movement.

B. A signal of intention to turn right or left when required shall be given continuously during not less than the last one hundred feet traveled by the vehicle before turning.

C. A person shall not stop or suddenly decrease the speed of a vehicle without first giving an appropriate signal in the manner provided by this article to the driver of any vehicle immediately to the rear when there is opportunity to give the signal.

Legislative Intent.

Clearly it is not the intent of A.R.S. 28-754(A) to make a turn signal mandatory during every turn. A.R.S. 28-754(A) could have been drafted to read, "A person shall not so turn any vehicle without giving an appropriate signal in the manner provided by this article." It doesn't. Rather, the intent of the statute is to mandate the use of a turn signal "in the event any other traffic may be affected by the movement."

Example.

If you are driving a car and there are no others cars around whose movement would be affected by your failure to use a turn signal, you simply don't have to use it. For example, if you are driving and are in a left hand turn lane with no other vehicles on the road, and you want to make a left hand turn, do you need to use your turn signal? No. Traffic will not be affected in any way.

STATE OF IOWA v. KYLE GAVIN TROGE, gives us some hope that simply using a turn signal does not give law enforcement a reason to pull you over.

The Court of Appeals first noted that when there are two or more lanes going in the same direction, a turn signal is not required when changing lanes. It then noted that Kyle's changing lanes was done "in a safe and unremarkable manner, without any indication that the driver did not ascertain that it was safe to make a lane change."

Where is the turn signal flasher on a 95 Ford Aerostar?

For Electronic dash, look under the dash on left side of the steering wheel there is a cover held by thumb screws just turn them and remove the cover and you will see them.

If you have the regular dash, you should find them just above the drivers side kick panel with a dark colored cover which just pries off (Gently).

Why do the turn signals stop blinking when the brake is applied in a 1989 Chevy pickup?

If the vehicle is equipped with a trailer light plug, the wires for the brake lights and the turn signals have been connected together, which is common, as many trailers do not have separate lights for brakes and turn signals.

How do you change rear turn signal bulb on a 2004 Cadillac DeVille?

They don't make these cars for a shade tree fixer, you almost have to take it back to the dealer, unless you have the right tools. And they are counting on you not having them. Good luck. Had the same problem on my 98 DeVille.

How do you change the brake bulb?

Brake light bulb replacement: Purchase the correct replacement brake light bulb(s) first, before disassembling the vehicle. See sources and related links below for replacement bulb information. Then consult your owner's manual for the brake light bulb replacement procedure. As simple as it sounds, the owner's manual is the best place to start for bulb replacement instructions and illustrations. You may want to consider replacing both left and right at the same time in order to keep brightness and color equal (optional).

How do you replace a turn signal relay on a 1998 Oldsmobile Aurora?

signal relay changeoutBoth the turn signal relay and the hazard flasher relay are located in clips on the steering column. To access them, remove the plastic cover under the dash (drivers side footwell)and using a light locate the silver colored(with yellow stripe) relays. Activate the hazard flasher so you can determine which relay is the one for turn signal and gently remove it from its clip. Carefully remove the connector (may have to gently pry off with a flat bladed screwdriver)and replace with the new one. Replace the relay back in its clip and replace the plastic panel and you're done. Hint....before replacing the cover, try the signals to ensure the correct relay was in fact changed)

How do you replace the front turn signal bulb in the bumper on a 1988 Honda Accord LX?

Is it just the bulb? Or the whole thing?

There is a Philips-head screw holding the corner marker in place. It is easily seen from above when the hood is opened. Remove the screw. Gently pry between the body (use towel to prevent scratching) and the corner marker housing assembly. The assembly will need to move directly forward. Other than the screw just removed, there is one metal pin and 3 plastic pins holding it in place. The metal one has a tendancy to stick with time.

If the assembly doesn't come out, it's because of this metal pin. The pin is located at the very front very bottom of the assembly. To reach it, slide a screwdriver just behind where the corner light and headlight assemblies meet. The pin fits into a white socket that will look like a white ring - slide the screwdriver blade in front of the white ring to pry the pin loose.

Bulbs are replaced by turning the bulb holder 1/4 turn and pulling out of the back of the housing. For ease of bulb replacement, you can unplug the bulb holders, as well.

This procedure also works for the 1994 Honda Accord (and possibly for the 1995 1996 and 1997 Accords).

This is how I did it...

Remove the plastic plate just under the front turn signal... Lay on your back and scoot directly under neath looking up through some styro foam and you will see a screw that is encased in a plastic sheath... This prevents the screw from falling out... unscrew it and wha la... the turn signal comes right out.

How do you change the turn signal flasher on a 1993 Plymouth Acclaim?

To the left of the fuse panel you will see the flashers, you can up snap all of the dash trios, take the screws out and it exposes all the flashers, theres three of them right together, the emergency, signal and horn relay.

The "trio" block contains a hazard warning(short and round), a time delay relay(tall and round) and a horn relay(square). The turn signal flasher is above and behind fuse panel. It is held in place by a bracket which the flasher "pushes" into.

This also works for the 1992 Acclaim. However, I have found that the flasher is permanently mounted on a bracket which has no means of being taken down. The flasher (which may be blue in color) has a two wire connector, which pushes on from the left. Pull this connector off and you can hook another flasher on it. You can try to re-place the new flasher on the bracket, but it might be just as easy to place the flasher in an out of the way location. I don't have the biggest hands on the block, but removing the old flasher is a job for someone with very small hands.

Have a 1998 Chevy Blazer What would cause the turn signal flasher relay to make clicking sound all the time even though turn signal not on The only time it quits is when the brakes are applied?

AnswerIt's the stick thingy and wiring in the steering wheel. The thing you use to turn them on and off has a short. Replace it and it's good as gold.

see "link" below

Sorry, but the stick thingy is the wrong answer.

I have a 1998 GM Blazer and the exact same thing happened to me. It sounded exactly like my directional signal was on, but it was not. It actually started to drive me crazy because no one could figure it out. When I put my foot on the brake, the clicking sound would also go away. Mechanics thought I was crazy.

Two years later, I found an independent mechanic and he did 2 things to correct the problem. (1) Replaced the 4 wheel drive switch on the dashboard, and (2) Replaced the solenoid switch under the dash. The clicking sound was gone for good. Good luck, hope you get it resolved.

You did not mention if it is a bulb problem or it will not flash. If it blinks faster on one side than the other, then you have a bad bulb. Check them and determine which is not working and replace it. If the indicator stays on steady, then you have a flasher problem. it will not flash
