What is the difference between a VW Cabriolet a VW Cabrio and an MK1?
1980-1993: Cabriolet, Mk1
1995-1999: Cabrio, Mk3
1999.5-2002: Cabrio, Mk3.5 or Mk4 (depends on which side of the pond you're on)
And now are all replaced by the Eos here in the states
First, make sure the 4-way flasher switch is off. Some flashers only turn on when the turn signal is on as well. If the flashers STILL come on when the turn signal is on, you probably need a turn signal switch... it's inside the steering column and depending on the vehicle type, it can be a real pain to replace, or it can be quite easy. But that just about describes everything that can go wrong.

How do you install a new fuel pump in a 1989 cabriolet?
There are two fuel pumps on that car. One is located under the car back by the gas cap. The other one is in the tank (sort of). The one in the tank can be located by removing your back seat. There is a fuel port - remove it and you can access the internal fuel pump. We have a Chilton book and it tells you to remove the fuel tank - you don't have to, learn from our mistake. Super easy. Don't forget to change the fuel filter too!

I had this happen a few years ago. The problem was that the tape itself hadbecome wrapped around different wheels and pulleys inside the the tape player so that the cartridge would raise but it would not eject. I ended up having to remove the player from the dashboard, take off the cover and cut the tape from the inside. Then the cartridge could be pulled out.
How do you manually rise the top on a 1993 Le Baron Convertible that is stuck down?
Just remove hydraulic oil from conv. top motor and you can operate top by hand. worked for me for years
you dont ... you get a new starter motor because your cylinoid is busted ..... == A better answer is you let it sit for half an hour or more while the starter cools down. It will start again when the engine cools down. The starter heats up from starting, the engine conducting heat, and from being next to the exhaust manifold. Cheap starter rebuilders do not leave enough room for thermal expansion. You have a rebuilt starter. ALWAYS insist on a BOSCH starter! You do need a new starter. I went through 2 starters before I found this out. Automatic transmission starters suffer from heat-soak, especially as they age. VW knew about this, issued a technical bulletin about it and installed hot-start relay kits on affected cars. You can easily do it yourself: http://forums.vwvortex.com/zerothread?id=2593146 ; be sure the heat-shield is in-place as well.

How do you install a new antenna on a 1988 cabrio?
1) Pull the driver's side front wheel off. 2) Remove the wheelwell liner (may need to remove the fender flare to do this). 3) Remove antenna retaining hardware. 4) Remove radio head unit from dash to remove the antenna plug. 5) Pull antenna wire through firewall and dash and remove from car. Installation of new antenna is basically the reverse of removal.
