REPLACING SIDE VIEW MIRROR GLASS ON 1999 HONDA ACCORD.
(1998-2002 should use the same procedure)
Fist of all, I am not responsible for any damages incurred while following my suggestions, however I just performed this repair about half an hour ago, and everything turned out ok. I called Honda, and they told me how to do it, I did it, and know I am passing it on to you guys. Good luck.
all Right... My mirror broke so removing it was not a problem since concern of damage to the glass was not a factor, however, the way the glass (along with its plastic cover on the back) comes out, and snaps in is by the use of pressure. Amazingly these weak looking mirrors can take more pressure than it appears they can take.
How to put it in:
They snap in from three places:
a. A big circle in the middle (same function of a ball joint, except that it is not a complete ball)
b. one small ball joint in the back upper part of the mirror
c. one small ball joint in one of the sides in the back of the mirror. my mirror was the right one, so the side ball joint was towards left.
PUTTING THE NEW SIDE VIEW MIRROR GLASS ON
1. The first thing I did was to oil the three joints where this thing was to snap using 3-in-1 oil. you can use WD-40 or just motor oil.
2. Then, with the electric control from the driver's door and with someone holding the tip of the ball joints in the actuator, retract BOTH ball joints as far in as they go.
3. Now the step that hurts follows: Hold the mirror still, align the center circle of the plastic thing in the back of the glass with that of the actuator, and use gentle pressure WITH THE OPEN PALM OF YOUR HAND on the outside of the glass part. Slowly increase the pressure to a not-so-gentle pressure until you hear and feel the thing SNAP! When this happens the mirror is in place.
4. To snap the actuator ball joints in place, starting by the top one, get someone to gently push the mirror on the top part as far in as it goes and hold gentle pressure, while the other person is pushing the electric control in the opposite direction. This will rotate the tip of the ball joints against the slots in the back of the mirror and the mirror will start pushing out; let it come out all the way.
5. Visually check that the protuberances in the tip of the ball joint align with the slots in the back of the mirror. If they do, then with gentle pressure start pushing in on the top of the mirror (remember we are doing the top first). You will hear a grinding noise as the mirror pushes in. When it pushes in no further, keep increasing pressure with the PALM OPEN more towards the top of the glass, and you will hear/feel it snap. This may take significant pressure. how do these things don't break??? I don't know.
The top ball joint must now be in place. Confirm by actuating the mirror from the electrical control up and down; If it moves in both directions, then the top joint is DONE!
6 . repeat steps 4 and 5 for the side ball joint, and the mirror should work and look like new.

The manual mirrors fold back at highway speeds how do you tighten them. 96 Ram 1500?
You will have to remove the inner door panel with a screwdriver by prying it away from door. It is just held in place with plastic clips. Then remove three 10mm nuts holding your mirror to the door. With mirror removed there are 3 small torqe scres that will need to be removed, then just rotate the plastic cap out of the way and tighted the 4 slighly larger torque bits (I think the are T-25's)Just follow the reverse to put back to gether
i have 97 ram, with the same issue. after many hours of trying i ended up braking the black plastic off from around the base of the mirror. after that i found 3 screws that come in from in side the door, getting the piece of plastic off will not be EZ, but after that there are 4 screws that hold the mirror in place. a litte lock tite and an Allen wrench and you set.

How do you replace a manual passenger side outside mirror on a 1994 Chevy Camaro?
You can't really replace it. You may be able to replace a broken lens if you're careful but if your problem is with the driver's side and its a manual mirror you're going to half to buy a whole new unit and get it painted to match your car. I've had to do this twice on my 96 with manual mirrors. The control guide wires attach to a plasic addembly inside the mirror. They eventually break loose from the back of the assembly making it useless. It's not repairable either because there is no access to the bolts that hold the mechanism to the mirror body unless the mirror is has the cables broken in which case it's a moot point.
If you mean replace the whole assembly that's much easier. Remove the small screw near the center of the triangular piece of plastic inside the door opposite the mirror. Pop the plastic off and you'll find two bolts. remove those bolts and the mirror just falls off.
I was able to order one at the local Toyota dealership... just the glass insert. They gave me the wrong side so I haven't poped it in yet, but it was only $50. To replace the whole side mirror I was quoted $450.
AnswerTry Hudsonglass.com in Peekskill NY. They have many mirrors in stock. Glass only. call 800-431-2964.Another choice, try to find from "http://www.jawaindustries.com/products_mirror_glass.html" to see if they have the same model of mirror glass

How do you repair the power window motor on a 96 Monte Carlo?
It is best to get the whole power window regulator assembly from the junkyard, which includes the power window motor. Cost should be no more than $40. Remove interior door trim panel by removing all screws and pulling up on the door panel. Unbolt existing window regulator assembly and slide guides from aluminum window track (you will have to uncrimp one end of track). Installation is the reverse of removal (remember to recrimp aluminum window track after reassembly). I did this repair in 45 minutes, power window worked like new. Good Luck!

There is a little more to removing the dash trim:
To pop up the dash trim you must first remove the driver side front door post inside trim. It requires a 10 mm socket to remove one bolt near the top then it can be removed. The dash trim hooks under it and requires removal to left out the dash trim.
One more thing - To remove and replace the mirror assembly you will need a star bit. the 3 bolts have a special socket head that requires the 6 point bit to turn them.

How do you replace the driver's side mirror on 2000 Ford Windstar?
Not sure if it will be the same for the 2000 Windstar. I changed the whole mirror assembly on my 98 passanger side. There are 3 nuts holding the assembly on the door. You must first remove the inside door panel by removing the cover around the door opener handle. There is a screw behind it once that is removed you can remove the panel by lifting up on the panel. you can then unplug the power window and lock buttons if you like( it does make it easier). then you have access to the nuts holding the mirror assembly one once you remove the little black rubber plugs. Unplug the power mirror cable and then reinstall the new one in the opposite order as the removal. .
New HeadlineOn my 2000 Windstar, there were 4 hex headed screws that I needed to remove with a 9/32" nut driver. Two were in the bottom of the door handle. One was near the bottom rear corner of the door and the other was under a black plastic trapezoid shaped piece (about 3" x 5") near the top front of the door (on the inside of the car, opposite the mirror). I carefully pried the black plastic piece off as it just snaps in place. The door panel could then be removed by lifting up and towards the back of the car. The two power connectors near the middle of the panel unplug by depressing a tab on them and the courtesy light near the bottom rear of the door panel can be removed by twisting counter clockwise.
There are 3 nuts holding on the mirror assembly, two of which are under black plastic/rubber hole-filler grommets. Be careful not to drop the nuts down in the door panel! I used an 11mm socket with a magnet to keep the nuts from dropping.
The power connector for the mirror motor/heater is under some white foam sound proofing. I peeled back a portion of it to expose the power connector. After unplugging the connector, I tied a piece of sturdy string to the old power connector before removing the mirror so that the string "fished" through the door panel as I removed the mirror and cord. I then untied the string from the old connector and tied it onto the new mirror's connector and pulled the cord back through the door panel. I think it would be very difficult otherwise to get the connector back through the door panel.
The remainder of the installation was just a reverse of the removal.
How do you replace the passenger side view mirror on a 2000 VW Jetta?
It is pretty straight forward. The new mirror glass costs about $65. Once you get it you will see that the glass has two electrical connections on it where the wires attach, and plastic tabs that snap onto the mechanical piece inside the housing that moves the mirror up and down. Attach the wires, center the glass in the housing, and push the glass firmly onto the mechanical piece that adjusts. That's it.
I found I could get at the mirror assemby by unscrewing the Philips screw on the front-inner side of the door, nearest the mirror, then "pop" the fasteners by pulling on the door cover and lifting it out of the window tray (might help if the window is down). The top corner of the door can then be pulled back about four inches, which is all you need (I propped it open for the remaining steps). Then unscrew the speaker cover (I think it's a T-20 size star head) and remove the foam backing. Now you can get to the bolt holding the mirror on, which is a 7/32 star/hex head (IIRC). Screw that off and disconnect the wire clip, then your new mirror should fit right on.
I have a 95 XLS that had the same problem. Also had problems with intermittent dash lights in the lower AC controls area... The mirror wire had an intermittent connection in the fuse/junction box area on the lower front area by the drivers feet. I pulled on the wires and the 12+ appeared at the mirror. It has since gone out again and I just gave that panel area a couple of kicks with my left foot and it came back again. Guess there is a flaw in the connections down there - I thought I was the onlt one having that problem. Hope this helped.
How do you unplug interior rearview mirror in a 2000 s-10?
You have to remove mirror by inserting a 1/8th inch screwdriver in notch and lift up while wiggling mirror.
This is contrary to the old ways we use to remove them; by using a simpiler Allen wrench adjusting.
The new mirrors make it much easier to knock/break off.
Once Mirror is removed then you simply use same the screw driver and push plastic latch off the mirror which supplies 12 volts dc to lights.
Who provides an auto trans shifter with readout for position in rear view mirror?
I like using PAW performace parts and accessories, I'd try them or Mr. Gasket... also everyone should have a manual for their vehicle, and the library should have a professional shop manual available in the reference section for FREE to make copies of...read up and fix like a pro!! :) Dave
How do you tighten a passenger side mirror on a 1992 jeep wrangler?
if i assume correctly your talking about the mirror itself and not the part that connects to the vehicle.
If its the mirror look underneath next to the rubber part (bendie) you should see two screws on either side. Take a Phillip screwdriver and tighten it to the desired torque. Dont tighten too much tho as you could damage. Personally i have mine pretty tight so the wind doesnt have too much play on them.
How do you replace windshield wipers on 2003 x-type jaguar?
The 2003 Jaguar X-Type has the most common hook-end wiper arms. See sources and related links below for installation videos. Also, purchase the replacement blades first and there will be additional instructions/illustrations on the replacement packages. Locate and press the tab or button where the wiper blade is inserted into the hook of the wiper arm and pull wiper blade out of hook. You may have to rotate and flex the blade to make enough clearance for the hook to pass through.
