What cause smell like oil but no leaks?
Valve cover gaskets leaking oil onto exhaust manifold/s.
Bad valve seals. (if oil level drops)
Bad PCV valve. Allowing oil into intake manifold/throttle body area.
P1432 - Thermostat Heater Control (THTRC) Circuit Failure The Comprehensive component monitor (CCM) monitors the THTRC circuit to the PCM for high and low voltage. If during testing; voltage was to fall below a calibrated limit for a calibrated amount of time the test will fail and set the DTC and MIL. Open or shorted THTRC circuit
Open VPWR
Open or shorted thermostat assembly
Damaged PCM
DTC P1432 is a THTRC circuit check. Testing should include wire harness, thermostat heater and PCM. I know this description is a little complicated. You MAY have a blockage in the cooling sytem somewhere. To start, pull and check your thermostat (front of engine) If you replace it make sure you replace it with one that is the correct OEM temperature (like around 190 degrees). A lower temp stat will not help, it will hurt! Get the engine to cool, don't worry so much about the CEL(they call it the MIL). Something like Malfunction Illumination Light. DTC is the Diagnostic Trouble Code. The PCM is the Power Control Module (main computer). Also make sure the water pump works correctly and the radiator has no blockages.
You may have messed up the timing when you put on the new distributor cap.
Damaged or faulty oxygen sensor or circuit; Plugged or damaged pcv valve; Leaking fuel filter or fuel filter connections; Clogged, damaged, defective or faulty catalytic converter; Plugged, dirty or poorly connected fuel injector; Punctured or damaged fuel tank; faulty fuel pump or fuel pump connections; Damaged or restricted exhaust system components.
It's a pretty common problem with the fuel line clamps. You notice it when you are ideling since the air is not moving past the engine, and you are smelling it at the worst - when you drive it dissipates, but it still occurring. You need to tighten the fuel line clasps - you can see photos of most of the places here:

Another possibility is the seal between the fuel pump and the gas tank. If you lift up the back seat and pull back the padding, you will see the access panels for the fuel tank. Remove the sheet metal panels and look at the assemblies on top of the gas tank. If the seals or lines are leaking the smell will be pretty strong in that area. Replacing the seals and/or the flexible fuel lines should solve the problem.
could be a choke problem or a fuel leak. There may be a risk of fire. I would let a mechanic take a look see. http://www.autozone.com/servlet/UiBroker?UseCase=S001&UserAction=viewSimpleDiagInfo&Parameters=info
What causes a burnt rubber smell from a 2000 Chrysler Neon?
Over time debris and other things can collect near the heater core, its possible that something small and plastic has fallen down through the defrost vents and gets hot when the vehicle is running. You may need to disassemble the heater and remove the items and perhaps vacuum it out.
Why there is a fuel smell after hard pull on a turbo car?
must have a small leak somewhere http://www.autozone.com/servlet/UiBroker?UseCase=S001&UserAction=viewSimpleDiagInfo&Parameters=info your car is not burning all fuel supplied to engine i would have turbo checked . a turbo recycles unburnt gases from the exhaust unburnt fuel leaves engine as a gas and enters exhaust system. fix may be as simple as having computer recalibrated to deal with the amount of fuel supplied to engine
Check for a leak at the weep hole of the water pump. It may be evaporating before it ever hits the ground. If you find a leak at the weep hole, the pump needs replacing. If you do not find the leak there, then I would have a compression test done on this engine. If you find one cylinder's compression is way below the others, suspect a blown head gasket, especially if the engine has overheated recently. Well, I looked @ it and from what I can see (which isn't much) looks like its leaking on the passenger side (kind behind the dash) looks like a possible hole in a metal line? Could it be something else if it's leaking in that area? I had same problem my heater core needed to be replaced. Plastic ends that went thru firewalls were splitting. new one are made of metal. cost about 30.00
Why does the heater and air conditioner smell bad in a 97 Dodge Intrepid?
Probably the evaporator core has mould on it and needs to be cleaned.
What causes the smell of burning rubber when you're in the wrong gear going up hill?
That smell is probably your clutch burning out.
Do i need to reset my computer after installing a cold air intake for my kia rio 06?
Short answer is no. When the car warms up after installing the intake, take it for a drive, the mass air flow sensor will tell the computer there's more air and the computer will automatically adjust. If you reset the computer, the calibrations from all the sensors is lost and must be relearned. On some vehicles, during the relearning process, the engine may run rough and the transmission may shift harder or slip until the drive cycle is complete. Save the headache, the computer should take care of everything.
Would your brakes smell like rubber burning if the master cylinder needed to be replaced?
I advise you to perform a careful examination of your car's brake system.
Why does your ac smell like antifreeze?
Your heater core has a leak, have the station pressure test your cooling system if it does not hold pressure you a leak in system
Why is gasoline coming out of the ignition switch?
Why is gasoline coming out of the ignition switch?
Does an alternator smell when it goes bad?
Not really. It can make a grinding noise, and sometimes bad enough that the starter will not even turn the engine over. Most times they just quit with no noise.
Your car seems to have an overheating problem, check radiator hoses, cooing fans, presure test radiator (if you dont have a tester the local auto parts store will ussaly do it for free). and then check your water pump (easy pump test, hold upper radiator hose, and pull accel cable, the hose should bludge. You also need to change the heater core as that is what is giving you the smell of hot antifreeze
Why does my Ford Taurus car tick when idle and when I push the gas?
Low oil level or pressure Hydraulic lifter bad
Check the evaporative canister under the hood for raw fuel. It is that black can with vacuum and wires running to the top. Good answer above. If you fill the tank and smell it, but it goes away after the fuel level goes down, you could have a leak where the fill tube joins the tank. There could even be a leak in the tank itself. Ran across that one a few years ago in a 2001 Chevy Caprice...couldn't find the leak anywhere until the tank was removed, filled with water, then flexed...the leak was at the top of the tank.
The seal that runs along the bottom back edge of the hood may be missing- the seal might have been mounted to the firewall. Your fresh air intake for the cabin is on top of the ledge running below the windshield there at the wipers. If the seal is damaged/missing, and any of the fumes created under the hood will find their way into the passenger compartment. Very dangerous. You may have other emission problems that are making the situation worse. I wouldn't drive it until the problem is fixed. In addition to Tim's suggestion, there may be a problem with the vent in the trunk. It should have a flap that allows air out, not in. If there is an exhaust leak in the muffler or the pipe leading to the muffler, engine ehaust may be coming into that vent. This could be a dangerous situation, and should be corrected soon, and you should drive with the windows down on your way to the repair shop.
Why does the radiator reservoir on your 1998 Pontiac Sunfire smell like gas and emit fumes?
There are only two ways gasoline fumes can get into a radiator. One is, someone poured gasoline into the radiator. I doubt that happened. The other is probably the real answer, and it is that you have a blown head gasket, or cracked head. The cylinder head has coolant and oil ports running through it, along with intake and exaust ports. It is also where the combustion of fuel takes place when the piston reaches the top of it's compression stroke. The job of the head gasket is to keep all this stuff separated. If the gasket breaches, stuff gets mixed up. Coolant can end up in the oil, exaust gases can end up in the coolant, and even fuel vapors can end up in the coolant and get transfered to the radiator resevoir. the fact that you have a fuel smell in the coolant tank is a dead giveaway. Unless somebody really did pour gas in there, but that's very unlikely. http://www.autozone.com/servlet/UiBroker?UseCase=S001&UserAction=viewSimpleDiagInfo&Parameters=info more than likely u have a cracked head on engine, crack is most likely to be found in the valve guide allowing fuel to enter coolant
How do you fix an air conditioner on a 1997 Geo Metro?
Hey Ryan==Take it ot the garage. To repair air conditioners youneed to have many special tools including a refrigerant recucler. GoodluckJoe
What causes a 2003 Ford Windstar heater and defrost to put out a very bad smell?
I had this problem on my 99 Ford Windstar and it was because we had a leak in a hose right buy the heater intake and it was sucking in the air from what that leak was putting out. We replaced the hose and the smell went away. Also another key indicator if this is the problem is that eventually your coolant will run out and you will lose heat in the van as the hose that needed replaced carried the coolant from one place to another. I know pretty much nothing about cars so this is just from personal experience
