You can not bypass the theft deterrent on your Cadillac. This is a pass lock system in which the key is coded directly to the cylinder. If the theft deterrent has be intiated on your vehicle the best bet is to if you have the key is to disconnect the battery for atleast 10 minutes so the BCM resets and then reconnect the battery and use your key. The vehicle should start. If the ignition has been busted either replace the ignition or get a steering column with a key from a junkyard. unscrew black plastice cap screw on top of new filter turn key to run with towels near filter to catch bleed off after bleeding it in run NOT TRYING TO START ENGINE then cleanup diesel mess re tighten black screw on top of filter and start vehicle

Either the distrbutor cap is cracked or broken or the plug wires are not in the correct firing order or the drive for the distributer is partially broke or the valve train is to tight.

If I'm not mistaken I believe the starter is under the intake on the back of the engine between the block and the firewall.
I had the same problem on my 1995 acura integra. I changed the distributor cap and also changed the groundwire, It turns on perfectly now, so you might want to change those two things. hope that helps A very common problem with the ignition switch. the switch is two parts. bottom hooks directly to wire assembly. top part, little black nipple that engages your starter/cylinoid. intermittent at first and can be misdiagnosed for a bevy of other problems. If car power engages, and you know how to hot wire from positive lead of cylinoid to positive pole of battery, and car starts, you need to change out ignition. 30bucks max. easy instructions available. remember check this out first so you do not waste time or money. I love Jettas and have had it happen quite a bit with high mileage cars. I buy ignition after test, disconnect back wire from starter, hook up new ignition, push in clutch and use tip of key to engage. Car "usually" starts right away. good luck.

check and see if your rotor is spinning under your distributor. if it isn't you have sheared a pin. i would advise you to get a cold rolled pin from napa auto whenever you pull your distributor out. youll have to drop your oil pan to get the cam gear/distributor gear out if it dosent fall off when you pull the dizzy. make sure the cold rolled pin you get is snug in the hole's for your gear and your dizzy. take your #1 spark plug out and put your finger in it and have someone barely turn the motor over when you feel it air push your finger out of the spark plug hole. that means its close to TDC "top dead center. when you put your distributor back in make sure the rotor faces the #1 spark plug then replace the cap. i hope i helped ya
