Where is the fuel filter located on a 1996 Chevy Lumina?

I was told its External, not Internal!!!

its in the gas tank i have Monte w/same specs take two straps off tank, drop down remove pump

jannhaglan2004@yahoo.com

the fuel pump is inside the gas tank the FUEL FILTER is along the fuel lines under the car it is a round cylinder that is connected by 2 little clips ( careful tho when u disconnect the fuel filter, it holds a fair amount of gas) so have something ready to catch the gas or at least don't get it in your eyes.

1995 Chevy lumina apv is shutting off whenever you let off the accelerator to slow down and it was also idleing at high rpms intermittently before this problem started?

Most likely a bad idle air control valve. When checking and replacing it spray the throttle body out with some throttle body cleaner.

How to tell if Blown head gasket on 1997 lumina?

Well, I was serching on the head gasket topic & came across this question. I just replaced my water pump as I was losing coolant like crazy/ $225 dollars later (for the new water pump & the labor which i didn't want to monkey with myself) I am still leaking anti freeze. Best thing to do is get it into a shop & have a pressure test done. Without knowing what symptoms you are experiencing, it is tough. Also, I can tell you that the word on the street is that the 3.1L motor is prone to having head gasket issues.

How do you bypass the Pass-Key II system on a Buick Park Avenue if you do not have the original key?

Possibly the only way is.... to take it to the dealer and have them do it.
*Update: there is now a do it yourself device available at your major national chain parts stores, made by DesignTech (ph#800-337-4468), that will allow you to bypass GM security systems such as VATS, P.A.T.S., Passlock, Passlock II, Pass-KeyIII, Saturn, Securlock, & Transponder anti-theft systems, as well. So, if your security light is on at the dash and your car just won't start though you can hear the starter turning, it is because the fuel pump has been disabled by the passlock security system, the device previously mentioned sales for around thirty bucks but it must be installed by wiring into the steering column at the key switch area (detailed instructions are included).

You may be able to jump the security system by having someone turn the key while you pull out and push in the starter relay continually until the motor starts, but this will only temporarily help you, the real solution is a bypass device.

You can also take the VIN number to a dealership and they can cut a key off the VIN for you that will work with the security system for that vehicle. This should cost you about the same as the bypass system sold at the auto parts stores and will be less labor intensive.

How much should it cost to replace a power steering pump on a chevrolet lumina?

45 min to an hour of shop time + parts + inspection, shouldn't be more than a few hundred.

What can cause a 91 Chevy lumina no start condition with gas and spark?

You need three things to start an engine. Gas, spark and air but, they all have to be in the right place at the right time. So, I would say you have a timing problem. It may be something serious or it may be something less serious like an engine compter or something like that.

How do I relieve the fuel pressure to change the inline filter in a 1995 Chevy lumina van 3.1 liter engine?

you can relieve fuel pressure, by the schrader valve on top back of engine, it has a cap on like a tire valve. remove cap then let the pressure out like you would do to a tire. another way is to remove fuse for fuel pump, start car let run till it dies!!

Where is the evaporator drain tube on a 1998 Chevrolet Lumina?

For the Lumina car, it is located on the firewall basically centered behind the engine. It is a little rubber elbow coming out of the firewall. It drains directly from the elbow and the elbow can be removed and unplugged.

Where is the tcc solenoid located on a 1994 Chevy lumina apv 31?

The TCC solenoid is located in the transmission housing. It is accessible by jacking up the driver side of the vehicle, removing the wheel and the plastic parts that obstruct the end cover (of the transmission) view. You will need to remove the end cover to access the TCC. I have not replaced the solenoid yet but have done research to find the above information. I purchased the TCC for about $65.00cdn and the gasket that you will need to replace for $15.00cdn. The transmission oil will spill when you do this, make sure that the engine is cold. One source said that the difficult part is to get to the connector. I plan on splicing the wires by soldering and putting a shrink wrap on the connections for protection. I will provide update when I actually do the job.

Where is the water temp sensor in a 91 Chevy lumina?

There are two coolant sensors. One for the ECM and one for the gauge or light. The one for the ECM is located on the intake manifold near where the thermostat housing is. It'll be located on the back side of this and a little low. It can be hard to see because of the air intake hose. The one for the switch is located straight back from that one on the rear corner of the block. I think it is a blue or green wire running to it. It will be a single wire unit while the one for the ECM will have two wires....yellow and brown.

How can a worn rubber end of a composite rear spring be repaired on a 1994 Chevrolet Lumina?

The transverse rear springs start to grind over bumps when the insulators wear out. Go to your local parts supplier and get the two teflon blocks, Moog makes this part. If the ends of the spring are still o/k not splitting you can pry (long bar or floor jack) the spring up off of the seat and slide in the blocks. You will see that the blocks have 2 raised sides, this is to hold the blocks in place once you put it in.

F150 will start but will not stay running?

Sounds like you may have low fuel pressure. When did you last change your fuel filter?

What if your check engine light is on auto zone said the fuel to air ratio is bad and said to clean it with fuel injector the?

I would like to know what code came up to help you more accurately.Air fuel mixture is dependent on multiple inputs (signals) the E.C.M.(electronic control module) receives. Inputs from sensors like the M.A.F. (mass air flow sensor),O2 Sensor (oxygen sensor) ,A.T.S (intake air temperature sensor),T.P.S (throttle position sensor),C.T.S. (coolant temperature sensor) E.C.T.(excetera) witch control Injector pulse width (the amount of fuel going into the cylinder) Why a partially clogged injector tip could cause it there are many factors to be considered.Even mechanical such as an Intake manifold gasket leaking.Usually an oxygen sensor failure would seem most likely. You could always try Injector cleaner and if problems persist then get a trouble shooting guide from auto zone and trouble shoot code or take it to a professional auto technician.without more information it would be difficult for me to help you any further. If you could tell me the code i could help you more efficiantly.

How do you change spark plugs on a 1995 Chevy Lumina?

Chevy Lumina Spark Plugs
  • What you need to do on this automobile is to take off each pluge wire take a deep well 5/8 socket and two small extisions then turn to your left this will losend them on the front on the back of the motor you will have to lose your moter mounts on the front of the car the two black thing there are one bolt per side take them completely out then rock the motor forward then you will be able to get to the back spark plugs
  • You may also access them by removing the alternator.
  • Tilting the engine forward is a pain in the butt and risks breaking/stressing lines/connections. Still a pain, but easier, is removing the alternator. Disconnect the battery. Remove serpentine belt from the alternator by slacking back the tension pulley. Remove the front bolt on the alternator, tilt the alternator back to access the rear bolt. Once alternator is removed, access to the plugs is still tight, but you can reach behind the engine with the necessary tools (you will need extensions for your ratchet wrench) to get to the plugs. Just finished this job about 10 minutes ago. No wonder the car was missing on my 1990. Found gaps to be .055 - .075. For my year and model (3.1 sedan) gaps should be .035
  • I just changed plugs on my 95, and I didn't have to remove or move anything. You will need the right length extension for the rear plugs. (possibly two short extensions together) I would recommend applying anti-seize to the plug threads before installing them. You might also want to change one at a time to avoid accidently mixing up the plug wires. This was a car with a 3.1 engine, other engines may be different.
  • Changing spark plugs on Chevy Lumina 3.1 engines or similar: To do this job car must be in neutral. loosen motor mounts. Take bolts holding engine out. at the bottom of right motor mount is a guide hole. the front mounts should be loose so you can raise them. When rear bolts are out take a pry bar or facsimile pull motor forward attach bolt or facsimile to hole at bottom of the motor mount to hold engine in place. When finish installing plugs or whatever it is that you need to get this clearance. You do the reverse to get engine back in position. Remember car must be in neutral to do this correctly.

Safe yourself a load of time and trouble, plus about $300 dollars. Just remove the Alternator and the air filter and you will have all the access you are going to get even if you tried it from under side. But be careful with all the little electrical moduals and vacume hoses when removing the air filter. Oh, and one last thing about replacing the alternator belt. Look n the tention pully arm, and you will see a square 3/8 hole. Just put your 3/8 drive or socket in there and left until you can replace the belt..! If you are 71 and retired, this will get you abck in shape.
