Crankshaft Sensors

In an internal combustion engine, a crankshaft sensor is a component used to monitor the rotational speed and position of the crankshaft. The information provided by the sensor is used by the engine control unit to manipulate ignition system timing.

Where is the camshaft sensor located on a 2000 Isuzu Rodeo?

for the four cylinder it is located in the front part of the engine. you have to remove the spark plug cover cap, then remove the serpentine belt. remove the timing belt cover, then remove the timing belt cover mounting screw located in between the two gears. for the 6 cylinder it is on the back of the drivers side head just behind the intake manifold screwed in from the outside 10mm bolt

Where is the crankshaft position sensor on a 2003 Mitsubishi outlander?

Under the timing chain cover, attached with 2, 10mm bolts, directly to the right of crankshaft sprocket. Once the timing chain cover is off it will be easily visible.

Where is the crankshaft position sensor on a 2004 chrysler concorde?

Passenger side of the bell housing, just behind the engine.

Passenger side of the bell housing, just behind the engine.

What is ratio of crank shaft to cam shaft?

The camshaft spins at half the engine speed. The crankshaft spins 2 times for every one revolution of the camshaft

What is happening when the rear lights won't turn off They stay on long enough to drain the battery?

Either the spring on the brake pedal is weak and not pulling the pedal back enough to contact the switch or more likely the switch is bad. It's easy to replace, it is at the top of the arm that goes down to the brake pedal. Two wires that plug in and it screws in with a locking nut to hold it. Should be $6-$8 somewhere around there.

Where is the crank sensor on a 92 f150 4.9?

The 1992 Ford F1 50 pickup truck 4.9 liter engine crankshaft sensor can be found on the back of the engine. You will to remove the rear engine cover in order to access the sensor.

What is the function of camshaft bearing cap?

The camshaft bearing cap serves to secure the camshaft in place within the engine's cylinder head or block, ensuring proper alignment and stability during operation. It also helps to maintain the correct spacing between the camshaft and the bearings, allowing for smooth rotation and optimal performance. Additionally, the bearing cap contributes to the overall structural integrity of the engine assembly, preventing vibration and wear.

How do you replace the camshaft position sensor on a 98 Ford Contour 4-cylinderinder?

Simon from Montreal

The camshaft sensor is located at the back of the head on driver side. Remove the wire, unscrew the sensor, screw the new sensor in the head and put the wire back on the sensor.Pretty easy job!

Mike From Des Moines

The camshaft sensor is not in the back on the 98 4 cyl its right in front. All you need to do is take off the 3 bolts on the top of the heat shield and pull it back a bit and it will be right there.

How do you replace camshaft position sensor on a 1997 Mercury Sable 3.0 engine twelve valve?

Replacing the Sensor1. Disconnect the negative battery cable...just like on every other installation 2. Detach the CMP sensor connector next. 3. Remove the CMP sensor retaining bolt and remove the CMP sensor

Now to install: 1. Clean the CMP sensor surface and ensure that the O-Ring is in place. 2. Position the CMP sensor into the engine and tighten the retaining bolt to 71-106 inch lbs. 3. Attach the CMP sensor connector 4.Connect the negative battery cable.

Where is a camshaft position sensor located on a 2002 SL 1?

Where is a camshaft position sensor located on a 2002 Cadillac deville?

Not sure why the question was answered by a question for a different car but:

1. The camshaft position sensor for a Saturn S-series does not exist. The PCM may throw a trouble code for improper camshaft timing, or a faulty camshaft sensor when the electronic ignition module has malfunctioned. Saturn uses a dummy camshaft pulse generated by the ignition module to fool the PCM into thinking it has a cam sensor. The camshaft sensor circuit fails most often, resulting in poor performance, and trouble code indicators.

2. The camshaft position sensor for a 2002 cadillac deville is located on the driver side of the front bank cylinder head. If this were a cadilliac question form, i would have included a picture.

Were is the location of the crank sensor on a grand am?

What happens when your knock sensor goes out?

When the sensor goes out, the engine starts to shake violently, after running tit fo a few minutes. And you will also expend more in gas!!, the motor will run,, but uses more gas due bad timing signal... Jesus S. --------------------

Nothing really happens unless you are using VERY low grade gasoline. First, if its bad get it replaced by a service tech. Its hard to replace for a novice and you waste money because your fuel mileage goes down. Running my vehicle with a bad knock sensor, I've gone from 32 MPG to 25 MPG. I could have paid for a new sensor several times over by now.

Its possible that the engine could "shake violently" but use a higher octane gasoline to prevent predetonation until you get it fixed.

Where is camshaft position sensor 5.7L 1997 Silverado?

It is mounted on the inside of the distributor. Under the cap. Left top side when looking at it.

How can you tell if a sensor is bad?

There a a few different ways to tell when a sensor is bad. One way on some sensors, such as temp sensors (or thermistors) is to measure resistance at difference temps to confirm that it is reading correctly, you would have to have the known values for the sensor to compare it to though. Otherwise, you would need diagnostic tools to monitor the sensors while the vehicle is running to know if they are out of range.

Can a crank shaft sensor leak oil?

Yes, if it is a sensor that goes into the block.

Where is the crankshaft position sensor located on a 2000 Cadillac Seville?

Both are located just behind the radiator in the middle of the cradle setup. Look below the valve covers and just below where the cylinder heads meet with the block. Here is a link to a picture of the setup:
