Yes its true it does. There are many reasons but oil get thinner with heat and will rush past any gaps. Usually the main end bearing is to blame. However Does the low oil pressure lamp come on? (7PSI). In most cases the oil pressure is +60PSI when cold and idle. However when hot most late BSA's show about 10PSI at idle. You're good to keep riding but if the lamp comes on at high revs stop! Most of the time, the speedometer cable breaks, and you replace it. The best way to find out, is to unscrew it from the transmission, and see if you can pull the cable out from the casing. If it checks out to be good, then it will be the drive gear inside the transmission, or the speedometer itself.

Remove 2 small u-bolts from rear end yoke

Pry drive shaft out of yoke

Slide front end of drive shaft off front splines

Ignition module then computer.

Check with the dealer, it might still be under recall
