What is a egr valve and where located on a 1991 park ave?
EGR = Exhaust Gas Recycling. When running at less than full power, a percentage of exhaust gas is put back through the intake so that there isn't too much oxygen in the mix. Computer controlled engines can run far more lean than did their carburated counter-parts, thereby saving you and me a whole lot of fuel. But if the engine runs lean, too much oxygen can cause the combustion process to get EXTREMELY hot resulting in burned exhaust valves and possibly even pistons. Welcome to the world of the EGR valve. By controlling the amount of exhaust gas the computer is actually controlling the amount of oxygen, making the engine run far more lean and making valves last many times longer. If your EGR valve goes bad there are a couple things that can happen to your engine, one is bad the next is worse. If you're getting too much exhaust gas, the engine will run bad. If you're not getting enough exaust gas the engine will either run too hot or waste too much fuel. EGR valves on most GM vehicles are mounted on top of the intake manifold. They aren't usually too difficult to change, but many cars have a lot of "shroud" around the engine, to make it look "pretty". Sometimes that stuff gets to be a pain to remove. Whatever it takes, if the EGR valve is messed up, replace it at your earliest convenience. It will save fuel and possibly the engine.
Where is the egr valve on your '96 Chevy S10 4-cylinder?
i have a 1994 s10, 4cyl, 2.2 ltr. and my egr valve is right up next to the firewall, top dead center under the hood. (to the right side of the heater hose coming out of the firewall.) if i remember right, it is very deceiving when you are trying to decide whether to buy the part and fix it yourself (about $20.00 total) or take it to a professional and have it done (couple $100 at least). when i looked under the hood of my truck and saw that the egr valve was "right there", easily accessible and looking "oh, so innocent" i decided "no problem" i can change that myself!! I could even see all four of the bolts that need to be removed and put back with the new part. so, for the next 2 days i devoted all of my time and energy to this "little" project. the first 3 bolts were a breeze, i thought i was walking on easy street until i realized that without some major disassembly of alot of things i didnt even know what they were, i would NEVER get to that 4th bolt. it was just far back and down enough to look 'innocent' to the unknowing eye, BUT, it is in such an awkward place and angle, that you cant get any decent tool into the spot and if you do there isn't enough room to use it!! i tried for 2 days to undo that last bolt, believe it. i can be a very determined girl! finally, someone who had been there before showed up like the calvary in a bad western. he fashioned some special tool (or bent up one of my wrenches, i think) and within 15 minutes had me back on the road! never again will i be fooled by four 'innocent' looking bolts! Good Luck!! V.
How much horsepower does a 04 Duramax Diesel have?

After replaced transducer of EGR but the check light still on what should you will replace next?
try the solenoid controlling the egr
How do you clean an EGR valve on a 1999 vw passat what effect does it have if its failed?
three small hexagon nuts need to be removed and be careful with the anti rattle switch ( whice is the small black piece next to the egr), also try removing the pipe leading down to the manifold ( 2 nuts, and attached to the egr valve) soak this overnight in paraffin, with the egr valve use truck film remover or carb cleaner, and a small brush ( metal brush may be too harsh, hard plastic\nylon brush is more suitable) be warned it is a messy job three small hexagon nuts need to be removed and be careful with the anti rattle switch ( whice is the small black piece next to the egr), also try removing the pipe leading down to the manifold ( 2 nuts, and attached to the egr valve) soak this overnight in paraffin, with the egr valve use truck film remover or carb cleaner, and a small brush ( metal brush may be too harsh, hard plastic\nylon brush is more suitable) be warned it is a messy job, failure of the egr would probably result in loss of power and rough idling, basically the egr sends back heat into the engine ( sometimes to kill of unspent fuel, also to bring car to operating temp alot quicker than other cars), you can actually do away with the egr valve and not notuce any difference, but that would be an enviromental issue ( throwing out gases when your engine can churn them up for you) also there is an allard steel pipe available, whice replaces the egr valve, and is hole free so no more oily bits on your engine.
Where is the EGR valve located on the 1997 Mercury Villager?
In my Experience the egr value is located on top of the intake near the tpi unit.
Where is the PCV valve on a 2002 Grand AM?
I Believe the PCV is located on the top front of the engine just above the second or last spart plug on the right , facing the engine as you open the hood.. A tool is not required to replace , you can just lift it out of the hole and pull it off the attached hose ..Very cheap to replace , probably less that 5 dollars.. Hope this helps..
How do you clean the EGR passage on a 1998 Ford F-150 4.6?
It usually is a carbon build up. take off egr valve, use a scraper or wire wheel to clean it, same with manifold, don't use chemicals on the valve itself, but I guess you could use brake cleaner on the port of the engine if you can't scrape it out. get a dremel tool with the long flex extension, put on a wire wheel and clean it out like that
What causes an engine to backfire?
missfiring cylinder possibly due to fouled spark plug, ignition timing incorrect (leads swapped around). The reason for the backfire is unburnt fuel accumulates in the very hot exhaust system and ignites there.
Or...
If the engine is running and did not previously back fire, and now backfires when the throttle is rolled off (on the over-run) then the most likely cause is an air leak either in the inlet manifold, between the carburettor and the head, or in the exhaust system, often where the pipe joins to the engine, or where the silencer joins the pipe.
These backfires are due to a LEAN mixture failing to ignite properly on every cycle and so allowing unburned fuel to build up until it finally goes 'bang'
if it backfires but won't run at all, then it could be several things from the camshaft being 180 degrees out to the spark plug leads (on a twin or multi-cyclinder) being on the wrong plugs.
backfires occur when not all the fuel is ignited in the engine and instead ignites in the exhaust.
Where is the egr position sensor on a 2004 Chrysler Pacifica?
It is part of the EGR valve on the driver side of the rear cylinder head.
How difficult is it to replace the EGR valve vacuum switch gasket and modulator?
Buy a new part and mount it to the firewall by the egr valve and connect the wires and vacumm lines and leave old one on block.
Where is the PCV valve located on a 1989 Lincoln Town Car?
On the 5.0L it is in the intake manifold down behind the intake plenum that you see up top. It is back by the firewall and is difficult to get to unless you have done it before.
Where is the egr valve located on a 92 Oldsmobile bravada?
The egr is located in front of the intake manifold by the upper coolant line leading to the engine, hope it helps.
Is it safe to block the EGR valve on a 1982 Chevy 25l Camaro engine?
I have the EGR disabled on my 1990 truck, 5.7.
If i can disable it on my truck without a problem, i cant see why a car wouldn't work, as the engine would be working less.
2 mpg increase in fuel economy.
Apparently higher combustion chamber temps.
How do you know if your oxygen sensor still good?
Go by the miles travelled. Refer to the owners manual for the replacment schedule. A new oxygen sensor will give you better fuel economy and performance.
Where is the EGR valve located on a Nissan Terrano 27TD?
At the rear left of the engine block. It can be identified by a small diameter pipe connecting this valve to another small valve near the air filter (this valve makes part of a group of 3 identical valves EGCR1, EGCR2 and a third one).
You still have an EGR vacuum regulator, a vacuum harness, an entire wiring harness, and a computer involved in that sub-system. There could be a fauly EGR vacuum regulator(EVR), there could be problems with the vacuum lines to or from the EVR so that when the EVR opens no vacuum is getting to the EGR, there could be wiring problems between the EVP and the PCM, so that the PCM is not getting a proper signal from the EVP, there could be problems with the wiring to the EVR, so that the PCM command to open the EVR is not getting to the EVR, there could be problems with the PCM so that the PCM is gettting the signal from the EVP, but is not processing that info properly, there could be problems with the PCM so that the control output to the EVR is not working. A scan tool never tells you what is wrong with a car, because the PCM has no way of knowing exactly what is wrong. It only knows what sub-system it is not getting an expected reading from, so it can only tell you what sub-system is involved, as in the case of a code 31. Code 31 does not automatically mean that you have a bad EGR/EVP. It means that the PCM does not see an expected voltage value from the EVP when it thinks it should. That could be anything in that sub-system, which includes all the above stuff. I reccommend you should obtain a volometer, and a wiring diagram, and possibly a diagnostic flow chart.
Where on the engine is the vauxhall Tigra egr valve?
DEPENDING ON WHAT ENGINE YOU HAVE IT CAN BE IN DIFFERENT AREA'S MOST COMMON IS UNDER THE INDUCTION, TO ACCESS U WILL NEED TO REMOVE THE WATER RESIVOUR.
Where is the egr cooler on a 2005 6.0?
it is under the intake on the passenger side of vechile right below the tubro and runs up towards the front of engine. the turbo and intake all has to come out in order to get to it.
Where is the PCV valve on a 1996 Ford Thunderbird 4.6?
The PCV Valve itself is on the right bank valve cover (passenger side), directly underneath the air intake plenum. The plenum will need to be removed for access.
The plenum looks like what? Any description or diagram would be helpful. It is a black rubber air pipe approx. 3-1/2 diameter. It runs from the air filter box to the throttle body. It is secured by simple hose clamps and can be removed easily with a flat head screw driver.
