What is the procedure for replacing a power window motor on a 4-door 2002 Chevy Cavalier?
Remove the trim pad by removing the door and window handles, then all of the screws you can find then the retainders around the sides and bottom of the door. Inside of the door is a lot of very sharp edges that can cut you bad also the reguoator is spring loaded. I suggest taking it to a trim shop.
you'll need to remove the panel and inspect the mountings and alignment adjustments...in the book you'll find details.. everyone should have a manual for their vehicle, and the library should have a professional shop manual available in the REFERENCE section...make copies of the right sections...good luck :)

I actually just got mine replaced today and it was $175 for the front passenger window. I also got quoted for a windshield as well and it's $199. My roommate had one of her windows replaced before and it was closer to $250. It kind of depends on where you go to get it done though. Definitely should call and ask around for prices first before you get it done.

There is a electrical relay for the rear window which is usually located behind a body panel in the rear of the vehicle. I'm not entirely sure which side. The relay is the first thing to check, I would avoid tearing apart the switch panel or the rear door until you check the relay. Most scrap yards will probably have one. Without knowing the year of your truck it is hard to determine the exact location of the relay though.

Check the fuse for the power windows. Operate the windows and see if the problem is isolated to one window. If not, the switch is most likely bad and needs more diagnosing.
Remove the door panel to the inoperative window. Start by removing the two Phillips screws in the area of the arm rest and the one screw that holds a plastic cover in front of the door handle. Remove the plastic cover over the retaining nuts for the outside side-view mirror.
Insert the common screwdriver in between the door panel and the door to pry out the trim fasteners along all three sides of the door panel. Hold the door panel away from the door enough to disconnect the electrical connectors from the window switch and the power door locks.
Remove the door panel and then remove the window switch from the panel. Plug the switch into its connector and turn the ignition key on. Move the switch in both directions and listen for the motor to work. If it does not, check the back-side of the switch with the voltmeter as it is operated to see if there is power to the terminals when activated. If there is power, the motor is bad. If there is no power, the switch is bad.
Remove the bolts holding the window to the horizontal track. Insert the common screwdriver in between the window and door to act as a wedge to hold the window up when the regulator is removed. Turn the key off and disconnect the switch.
Disconnect the electrical connector from the window motor. Remove the four nuts--two on each side of the door--holding the window track in the door. Remove the three bolts holding the window motor to the door. Remove the track with the motor from the access in the door. Install new parts in reverse order of removal.

- Bring down both windows at the same time by holding the switches just before the click that brings them down automatically.
- Once both windows are all the way down make both switches click by pressing them all the way down. Hold the position to the count of 3.
'Note:This lets the ECU learn that that is the end of the window track and it records it in memory.
- Repeat the procedure closing the windows by holding both switches and making them click once the windows are all the way up.
- Repeat Procedure with the front windows.
- Bring Moon Roof all the back and hold then all the way forward and hold.

Makr dure the motor is axtually th eproblem. More often than not, the nylon gear breajs or the three nylon spacers thas engage it with the motor. If you hear the motor running, but the window does not move or moves only from some positions, then it is probably not the motor

The power windows are all on the same circuit, so it probably is not the fuse. Check to see if your CR-V is equipped with a rear window safety lockout, that the driver can activate, to prevent kids from operating them and check to see if the switch is in the proper position. If it is, then my next suggestion would be to check to see if the wires leading into th doors have not been pinched or cut or shorted in some way.

Just fixed my driver side power window. Is seams over the years, rust collected between the motor drive gear and the main gear that helps move the window up and down. I ended up taking the motor out and cleaning out the rust. Workes fine now. I had to take the time and remove the armrest and door panel to get inside the door itself to access the motor. Its not hard, just takes time.
