Where is the oil drain plug on a 1989 Mazda 323?
The oil drain plug for Mazda 323 model usually located at the bottom side of the engine which mean at the crankcase cover engine. You may also slowly crawl your hand through the crankcase surface until you found there is only 1 bolt 19mm in size. That's the drain plug bolt. To open the bolt is same as standard bolt which counter clock wise.

How much should it cost to replace a timing belt on a 2000 Honda Accord?
I just got a quote on a 1999 Accord: Timing Kit $222.10 (Belt Only $18.10) Water Pump $58.66 Anti Freeze $12.95 Labor $292.50
Total including water pump: $630.00 from Tilden Car Care
Most recommend replacing water pump because it has to be removed to do the timing belt anyway
The water pump doesn't have be removed to do the belt change. Honda recommends to replace water pump at that point for 2 reasons: 1.) the labor cost to replace a bad pump is essentially the same as a timing belt so let's do it while we're in there; and 2.) what a money maker - look at the price - $59 !!!!!!
Don't get sucked into that Honda ripoff. Don't replace the water pump until it needs replaced. If at some time in the future the water pump goes bad, while they are in there, then replace the timing belt again.
Think about how many cases of beer, or steaks, or gallons of gas you can buy with $58.66
Replace the water pump when U have the belt done. As an EX Honda mechanic (22 years ) years this is common sense. I have a 2000 V6 ready for a belt. I will replace the belt, the water pump, crank and camshaft seals as well. I belive in doing a Commplete job. I am also replacing hoses, thermostat and coolant, I want to get im my car and go with No worries. And since I don't have the equipment any more i WILL BE PAYING the labor for this.
When hitting curb what damage could be expected?
anything is possible.
This is entirely dependent on the speed when you hit the curb. Say, at more than 60kph, you would most likely lose your tires, worst the impact would create crack/s if your car is fitted with alloy wheels and finally the car's tie rod-end ball joints.
What causes overheating when idling in a Mazda 323?
This problem can be caused by a faulty thermostat or temperature control switch. Does your electric fan turn on when tnd temperature gaueg reads halfway between C and H or 3/4's of the way? If the fan doesn't come on at all, you can wire a manual by-pass switch.
If you see white smoke in your exhuast and you have to fill the coolant bottle frequently, then the problem may be the head gasket. It's an all day job to replace.
Good luck
Malcolm
Why does Mazda 323 1990 miss and stutter when driving?
lots of possibilites here,
1. bad fuel ( water in tank)
2. fuel filter clogged
3.distributer cap cracked/wet/oily
4.fuel pump about to go, or bad ground (under rear seat)
5.bad ground contact on engineblock from battery
6.worn spark wire/wires
7.bad plug/plugs
best thing to do is open the little black box under the hood in front of the wiper motor on the driver's side...it says 'diagnostic'....take a paperclip/wire with two bared ends/twist-tie what have you..and insert one end where it says GRD..and the other end where it says 'ten'.
Then while connected..get in and turn the ignition key to the second position (just before start) and watch the 'check engine light'...it will be solid for a bit, then start flashing a pattern if it has an error stored in the computer..
I will jump ahead as these cars have common distributer problems...if it blinks a series of 2 blinks..you have to replace your distributer.
good luck !
Why is the ABS warning light always on for my Mazda 323 1997?
This warning light comes on when sensors detect problems within the ABS braking system. You need to have it repaired ... could also be a loose wire dangling somewhere, too. Check it out soon ... if you have to make an emergency stop, your braking system may not respond in the manner you expect it to.

Why does a 1998 Mazda 626 have a rough idle while it is in Park?
It probably needs a tune up. My 1998 Mazda 626 was idling very rough, so I did a tune-up by replacing the spark plugs and wires. This made the engine run better, but the rought idling continued. I took it to my mechanic, and he found a vacuum leak somewhere, and $270 later, it idles smooth as glass
