Oxygen Sensors

Also called as the lambda sensor, an oxygen sensor measures the proportion of oxygen in liquid or gas. Scientists use this electronic device in measuring respiration or production of oxygen. Oxygen sensors are also used in automobiles.

Where is the oxygen sensor on a 3000 gt located?

You need to be more specific. Like what year and what engine. Either a base SOHC (97-99), a NA DOHC or a twin turbo (91-99). The DOHC models have a front and rear sensor on each manifold. The rear is s pain in the @$$ to get off. The SOHC has one sensor located under the car near the flex pipe in the front. It runs into the car up into the shifter area. Hope that helps. Be careful with the install and make sure the wires aren't touching any metal when you plug it in. I made that mistake and when I started my car I blew my ECI fuse.

How do you remove rusted bolts from a ceramic toilet base?

you have to pull the entire toliet up. Then hopefully the bolts are all that are rusted. the metal (or plastic) flange the toliet carriage head style bolts run into, may be bad also. If this is the case, you will need a plumber, or elevate yourself to a higher degree of knowledge and skill to replace the flange. if just the bolts are bad, you can easily purchase new brass bolts made for toliet hold down, for about $2.00. Some older homes do not have the flange, and the bolts actually have wood screw threads on opposite end. these can be ourcahsed also, and the new bolts just run into the wood floor. However, all older home wood floors with this type of bolts i have wiorked on, the floor is so rotten, ity has to be replaced also. once again, if this is the case, a rotten floor, you need a plumber (carpenter) or have to elevate your knowledge and skill levet to tackle this isssue. if you master the toliet pull alone, make sure to always use a new wax seal gasket, they csot between $1.00 and $5.00. using the old wax gasket will only bring you leaks when you flush.

Where is the Oxygen Sensor on a 2003 Mitsubishi Lancer OZ Rally?

There are two, one on the header and the other is located underneath the car just after the catalytic converter.

If the code reader says P304 on a 2001 Hyuandai Elantra what does that mean and what do you need to fix the problem?

P304 means misfire on number four cylinder. Can be bad spark plug ,bad plug wire,or bad fuel injector. could also be loose plug wire or injector wire. How many miles since tune-up ?

In order to burn the fire needs what percent of oxygen?

73 percent

Edit: This answer can't possibly be accurate as air on earth is only 20% oxygen and is at it's highest level ever. Further more the amount of oxygen needed depends on what your trying to burn.

Keep in mind that oxygen is NOT fuel for fire. Fire IS the even of oxygen combining with other materials. Fire is the effect of energy being released at the time of molecular fusion.

Generally though, if at a high enough altitude where oxygen drops below 15% most things will not burn.

Is the oxygen sensor and MAF sensor the same?

The oxygen sensor is in the exhaust. It senses unburned oxygen to tell the computer if combustion is complete. The mass airflow sensor is in front of the intake. It measures the volume of incoming air to supply the right amount of fuel

There are two O2 sensors in the exhaust system (4cyl). One is the a/f sensor the second is the downstream or heated sensor. The first measures air/fuel metering; the second measures the efficiency of the catalytic converter. The MAF sensor measures the Mass Air Flow, and yes it is at the front of the intake between the engine air filter and the throttle plate.

How can you determine if a catalytic converter is bad?

Actually there are many ways to tell if you have a bad cat.

.A rotten egg smell coming out of the exaust

.Hesitation and/or bucketing when acceleration takes places

.Increase in engine running temp

.A ratteling in the muffler as car idles

.Car dying sparatically due to engine backpressure

.Difference in temperature from the back of the converter to the front due to clogging

Where is bank 2 sensor 1 on 2001 mitshubishi montero sport?

Your in luck...that should be the oxygen sensor in the exhaust manifold at the front of the engine compartment. Bank 2 is the bank of cylinders that does NOT contain the #1 cylinder. That bank is bank 1. Sensor 1 is the oxygen sensor upstream of the catalytic converter, and sensor 2 is the one after the cat.

Picture of location of oxygen sensors on 2002 Ford F-150?

You didn't say if it was a 6 cylinder or an 8 cylinder but it doesn't really matter because all the O2 sensors are located in the exhaust sytem and can be seen and replaced from under the vehicle.

What is the lifespan of a catalytic converter?

That depends on the engine and the fuel you've used. If the engine starts burning oil a catalytic converter can fail rapidly. Some fuel additives can also cause a catalytic converter to fail prematurely.

Why is your manifold glowing red you have replaced the whole exhaust system and the o2 sensor?

Your valve timing is off

The o2 sensor is not reading properly causing the system to go very lean.

How can you reset your o2 sensors on your 2001 Ford 4x4?

You can not reset your oxygen sensors. You can only replace them. To reset the check engine light you will have to get that done by a repair shop with a computor. If replacing the sensors does not repair the problem then check for a vacuum leak.

How do you find and replace an exhaust gas manifold sensor on a 2001 Ford Taurus?

EGR Valve Pressure Sensor? This also could be referring to this EGR related sensor.

Lots of good coverage in the "401" "Related Question" below...

Answer

I think you're referring to an exhaust gas oxygen sensor. If you have a V-6, there are at least 3 of them. You will find 1 sensor in each of the exhaust pipe coming down from each bank. Those are called upstream sensors. There's also one after the catalytic converter. That's called a post cat sensor and they rarely go out. If you have dual exhaust, you will have two post cat sensors.

How do you replace a front oxygen sensor on a 1997 Mercury Mountaineer?

the best thing you could do is sell that mounaineer and get a new car, problem solved, you're welcome.

I just purchased one for my 1997 merc mountaineer, i was up under it and found that the transmission cross member makes it very hard to get to, i may have to remove the cross member and support the tranny with hyd jack while i replace it, I allready know that you will have to modify a wrench, ie: cut off or shorten so as to be able to tighten the plug. This is where one of those times where the metric matches the American size. You can use a 7/8" end wrench or a metric size which ever you prefer. If I find an easier way I will let you know. I wish you well in your endeavor.

How do you know when you need a cam sensor?

engine will cut out at any time. will usually start again. but will cut out again when it wants to

Bank 1 on gm4.3 is that left or right side for the knock sensor?

Oxygen Sensor

Some vehicles have (2) and some have (4) O2 sensors.
When you start looking at the O2 sensors, they are normally numbered something like "Bank 1 Sensor 1" Bank 1 is on the passenger side; Bank 2 is on the driver's side. Sensor 1 is the upstream sensor (near the frame, between the block and the cat) and Sensor 2 is near the Y-pipe (downstream of the cat).

Normally it is the upstream sensors (sensor 1) that go first. They see the harshest conditions.

You will need;

Oxygen Sensor Socket

Anti-Seized

Penetrating Oil

I have even used a small plumbers propane tank and heat it up and it help get them free.

Sometimes it will take 15 minutes or take a few hours it depends on your luck...
