it will be pluged into your fuse box either the one in your dash or out under the hood, they will be about 4 or so of them, it should tell you in your owners manual, and soemtimes on the fuse box cover, but most wiil have a number on the cover showing the fuse your looking at then look in the diagram in your owners manuel and match it up, you must replace it, it cannot be fixed, it can be tested but i'm not sure if an auto parts store is equiped to do the testing. if you don't have a owners manuel you half to let me know although mine is a 93 but i'm sure there the same, you can email me at butchcoat@sbcglobal.net butch
What would cause a 1991 Pontiac sunbird to keep overheating?
More than likely a blown head gasket. Depends on the situation and how quickly it over heats. Check to make sure your radiator fan is coming on. Could be a bad coolant sensor, fan relay, bad water pump, stuck thermostat....etc. You have to start diagnosing things and ruling them out. It could be many things.
Where is the thermostat on a 1991 Pontiac Sunbird LE?
The thermostat is in the radiator. Open the radiator lid and pull the thermostat out.
1. Disconnect the negative battery cable. 2. Properly drain the cooling system into an approved container. 3. Remove all accessory drive belts or the serpentine belt. 4. Remove the alternator and bracket. 5. Unscrew the water pump pulley mounting bolts and then pull off the pulley. 6. Unfasten the mounting bolts, then remove the water pump. 7. Using a putty knife, clean the gasket mounting surfaces.
ALSO: on most vehicles you should take off the alternator as well, that way it will release the belt from getting in your way of removing the water pump.

How do you replace the timing belt on a 1993 Pontiac Sunbird 2.0?
When doing something this complicated I suggest you get a shop manual on your car from Auto Zone for about $18 and it will tell you how to do this job and help with the next job.
If it's like a '91 sunbird 2.0 you need to: 1. disconnect battery 2. remove breather and alternator with bracket 3. remove power stearing pump with bracket (or slide back out of the way to get the timing belt cover off) It's got a couple bolts going throught the motor mount that are very hard to reach. 4. remove any thing else in the way of the timing belt cover (brackets, hoses etc.) 5. remove timing belt cover by coming out a little and upward. (might want to remove passenger side front wheel to get at some of the cover bolts) I don't think the crank pulley needs to come off. 6. push down on the tensioner pulley with a long screw driver (it rotates down and counter-clockwise) 7. belt should come off. 8. reverse process to install new belt. note: there is a groove on the cam sprocket that lines up with a notch on the cover (metal back part). also line up the crank pulley notch/groove with the "0" mark on the cover. final note: this is from memory which I don't guarantee being over 50. Hope this works for you. +/-$300 and a repair shop works too.
