engine has 2 bleeders intended for filling cooling system only! they are not to be opened while engine is running or hot. the best method I've found for filling the cooling system on these is as follows:
open the lowest bleeder first (the 1 near the throttle body).
remove the radiator cap, fill very slowly until coolant flows out of bleeder, close the bleeder and don't touch it again. next instead of opening the other bleeder (the one near the bypass hose at front right of engine), disconnect the bypass hose and insert a funnel into the hose, fill at hose until coolant comes out of the radiator fill and install the radiator cap and do not remove it again, next continue to fill at hose until coolant comes out of pipe which you disconnected hose from. at this point your cooling system is completely full. reconnect the bypass hose and don't touch anymore bleeders, you're done. make sure there is enough coolant in the overflow bottle. Again, this is all done with a cool non running engine. after cooling system is properly filled if you still have an overheating problem look somewhere else, it's not because there's air in the system. i have shown technicians this filling procedure it works well.
I am another reader who had this problem...greatest advise that i had read...and it worked....thank you for this.
Perhaps the coolant was overfilled. It will expand because of heat or pressure and the excess makes it way to the coolant refill tank. Make sure your coolant doesn't have oil in it. In a worst case scenario you could have a faulty head gasket or engine damage that allows engine oil to seep into the coolant. But if you don't see oil in the coolant, then just drain some off.
What could cause an engine not reach operating temperature?
A thermostat stuck in the open position could keep an engine from reaching operating temperature, the interior heater would also not blow hot air. This can happen when using hard water ( water with a lot of minerals in it ) mixed with antifreeze.
What type of fluid go's in the radiator?
Only plain water goes into the radiator.
The Above is Wrong
A mixture of Antifreeze and distilled water (some people even say de-ionized distilled water). The antifreeze bottle will tell the ratio to give specific freezing and boiling temperature of the fluid but for most of the U. S., half and half is fine. Check your owners manual or ask at the auto parts store for the type of antifreeze recommended for your car. There are different kinds.
How to remove radiator fan fron 1999 continental?
To remove the radiator fan from a 1999 Lincoln Continental, first disconnect the negative battery terminal for safety. Then, remove any necessary components that obstruct access to the fan, such as the shroud or other nearby parts. Disconnect the electrical connector from the fan and remove the mounting bolts or screws securing the fan to the radiator. Finally, carefully lift the fan out of the engine compartment.
What could be the problem if your radiator fan is not cutting in?
Turn on A/C and see if the fan is running. It should run continually with the A/C on. If it is not, check the fuse, or fan motor itself. If it does run with the A/C on and no any other way, then check the thermal relay.
Where is the coolant fill cap on a Lincoln 2002 ls?
On a 2002 Lincoln LS :
The engine coolant reservoir is in the engine compartment , on the drivers
side of the engine compartment , next to the firewall . According to a drawing I
was looking at there is some kind of trim piece over the top of it , but the trim
piece has a hole in it to gain access to the engine coolant reservoir cap
How do you bleed all of the air out of the cooling system on a 1995 Pontiac Grand Am with a 3.1?
on the side of the thermostat housing there is a small screw with the motor is running make sure the heater is on loosen the screw let the water run until you see a steady flow then tighten back up.
I disagree with the previous poster. The cooling system is bled by loosening the screw on the metal pipe just behind the water pump housing. The pipe goes upward off the housing and has a bleed screw on the end of it.
To Bleed the cooling system, turn the heater to full hot and open the screw and add coolant to the resevior until you get a bubble free flow of coolant from the bleed screw. At this point the system is bled and just tighten the screw.
How do you get an air lock out of your cooling system?
COOLING SYSTEM OF WHAT ???????????????????????
Most auto parts stores sell cooling flushing kits. Get one follow the directions and it should take the air out of the system. You must remember that your heater is part of the cooling system as well as the cooling for your transmission.
Does oil travel thru a radiator for cooling?
No, oil does not typically travel through a radiator for cooling. Instead, radiators use coolant, usually a mixture of water and antifreeze, to dissipate heat from the engine. In some specific applications, like in oil coolers, oil may pass through a separate cooling unit designed to lower its temperature. However, standard automotive radiators primarily cool the engine coolant, not the oil directly.
What should the pH be in radiator coolant?
The green antifreeze brand that I use in my vehicle mixed 50 / 50 with distilled water
has a PH of around ( 10 ) when it's new . Since anything below ( 7 PH ) is acidic
I have never let it drop below ( 8 )
It was proven on the tv show "mythbusters", but having said that........it's only very temporary and should be fixed the proper way ASAP. Pepper works too for pinholes. If you care much about your vehicle, don't use these cheap versions to temporarily fix a mechanical issue. It's best to just get another radiator, used or not.

I AM NOT familiar with this exact vehicle, but as far as the petcock goes, if the radiator is plastic, there may not be one at the bottom. You may just have to remove the bottom hose and drain it from there. As far as the thermostat goes, ask a Ford dealer or invest in the big orange book called "CHILTONS". You can find a Chiltons at major automotive stores. The book is expensive, but well worth it if you do your own repairs on a regular basis. GOOD LUCK
No, antifreeze is green or pink. If your antifreeze is brown (its rust) you to flush and clean your cooling/heating system. No, antifreeze is green or pink. If your antifreeze is brown (its rust) you to flush and clean your cooling/heating system.
so the back heat also always blows cold every day we go blead the coolant system and we get air out but i mean how much air could their possibly be in there any other suggestions on what could be wrong?
there are two separate fittings (they look like grease fittings) located in the cooling system near the top of the engine (shouldn't have to dig to find). loosen both fittings and start vehicle. While the vehicle is running watch fittings, when you get a steady stream of coolant from both fittings tighten them down and your good to go. If after doing this the problem occurs again you've got a leak and need to take it to a garage immediately.
AnswerI can't find any grease fitting-like bleeder valves on the top of this boxer engine. Can you give me more description and location info? What kind of a wrench does it take to loosen them? Answereven easier...passenger side/top of the radiator is a Philips head looking plug...remove the plug and fill the radiator/engine via this..It's a little hole, but the purpose is to slowly add antifreeze so that the system burps the entire time...takes about 10 minutes to fill it. Works Excellent. How do you bleed the air out of a 1993 Lumina Z34 cooling system?
You'll need a vacuum pump that is used by AC service technicians.
How do you take out and install a radiator for your 88 Honda accord lxi?
# Disconnect negative battery cable # Drain the cooling system if coolant is pretty new save it # compress the hose clamps with pliers and slide them away from radiator then detach the radiator hoses from fittings # Disconnect the reservoir hose from the radiator filler neck # Remove the bolts that attach the fan bracket and shroud assembly to the radiator and leanthe shroud toward the engine # If the car is equipped with an automatic transaxle diconnect the cooler lines from the radiator # Plug the lines and fittings # Remove the radiator mounting bolts # Carefully lift radiator out # Installing is reverse
