Turn Signals and Hazard Lights

change the turnsignal switch i have done this several times, my tracker has 335,000 original miles

The front turn signals on my 2002 Beetle Turbo S can be popped out by carefully inserting a flat screw driver on inside the lower edge and pressing down on the metal spring clip that holds the signal lamp assembly in. It will then pivit up and out. It's pretty simple, but be careful not to scratch your paint.

I have the same problem, have traced it to a relay behind the glove compartment. But I have no idea which relay this is, have noticed if I depress the brake pedal just a bit the clicking stops. I am still looking for an answer.

For a 1996 it is at the front seating area, driver side, behind left hand side of instrument panel, mounted on convenience center.

Perhaps something in the gear shift that turns on the lights when in reverse position.

... on a 1990 Sundance there is a flasher just above and behind the radio - it seems to control the right side flashers. The 'bezel'type trim piece surrounding the section of the dash containing the radio can be pryed off. I would sure like to know where the flasher for the lights on the left side is ...

Check your relay switches that should be located near the fuse box.

Not 100% sure but I think its the relay on top of the fuse box right over the pedals on the RHD models - for Mazda 323 diesel.

I replaced this on my 92 protoge and it is behind the radio

For the back side one you have to go into the trunk compartment and there you will need to unscrew the 4 10mm nuts that holds up the whole turn/brake light and then you will have access to the bulbs. For the front ones you have a little cover in the front of the turn sign, carefully lift it up to remove it and then you ll have access to the screw, unscrew it and pull out the signal then change the bulb.

hi i can help you to replace the right blinker light, first raise the hood second there is a splash guard that runs the lenght of the fornt end just right above your headlights , remove that panel next you have two 1/2 inch bolt to remove ,then pull out the head light assy, next look to the blinker light and turn the socket 1/2 turn and pull out , replace then just put everything back toghter ,, hope this helps it did on my 99 ..

Examine the right rear brake light bulb and socket. The bulb could be jammed in the wrong way causing a short. If the bulb and socket look ok check wiring in back leading to the right rear light, it may be pinched or damaged. If the truck has a trailer plug connection check the connections and wiring leading to plug for damage.

Note: These instructions refer to the driver's side headlight. I assume the passenger side headlight is the same, but I have not verified that.

Remove the black plastic cover at the front of the hood compartment. It is secured with five velcro pads. The glue used to hold these pads on has probably worn out, but that doesn't seem to matter.

At the back of the headlight housing, there are two metal clips that need to be removed. Push towards the rear of the car as you pull up on them.

The headlight housing will now slide forward 4-6 inches.

Pull off the wiring connector at the back of the headlight bulb. There is a tab on top that may need to be pushed up. After you remove this connector, there is still one other wire that will remain attached.

There is a plastic ring around the base of the bulb that holds it in place. To remove it, twist it clockwise (when facing the car from the front) 1/3 of a turn. It should come off easily.

To remove the bulb, pull it straight back. You may have to wiggle it if it sticks. Be careful you don't bang your hand up when the bulb does come loose.

Installation of the new bulb is the reverse of the above steps. Be sure not to touch the glass of the bulb as the oils from your skin will ruin the bulb, possibly causing it to explode.

While the headlight housing is out, you should be able to figure out how to change the turn signal bulb. The car I worked on had a damaged turn signal housing, and I can not tell you much more than that.

Look to the side of the main light cluster in the engine compartment, you should see a small clip holding the side light, bend this in carefully and the light just pulls out. I have replaced both of mine and it took about 10 minutes max. You can buy replacements on eBay for about $35 vs $100+ at the dealer. Re-use the little plastic vent caps to keep out moisture. My eBay lenses held up better in S Florida than the factory lenses.

Open the hood and look at the back of the headlight housing. Lift the wire clip up and back (toward the engine) to release the bulb assembly. Remove the wiring harness from the base of the bulb and plug in the new one. DO NOT TOUCH THE BULB with your finger as it will cause it to burn out quickly.

i have just replaced a flasher on a 2001 leganza and it is on the driverside under the dash and is green.

Me, too, though mine is a 1998 Right hand drive. It was behind the bonnet lever. Once removed, recognize it as three spades with 31, 49, 49a marked on an original (though not on my replacement).

Remove neg batt cable.Remove dash plastic under steering column. Disable/unplug airbag yellow power feed wire under dash if so equipped.( If your car has a airbag make sure it is disabled!) Remove horn pad/ air bag as necessary. Loosen-remove center nut on steering wheel. Using a steering wheel puller, pull wheel. Remove the two bolts that hold the column at middle. Drop column 6" or so. Remove the 2-3 torx fastners the hold the switch in place. Unplug the switch harness at midpoint on the column and feed the harness thru opening. Reverse procedure. Done. The turn signal on a 2004 Hyundai Elantra is found behind the cabin fuse box. The flasher will be plugged in next to the fuse box.

Under the dashboard, a relay "box" that plugs into the fuse panel

I don't know what a thermal flasher is.

if buying a new light bulb, fuse, and relay dosent work, make sure that the wire that goes to the harness on the bulb is in all the way. just pull on the wire alittle bit. not to hard. if one of the wires comes out put it back in and move it around. the light should brighten, buy a replacemtn conecter tip like the one on the wire. crimp it on and plug it in. that should fix it.
