Where is the turn signal flasher unit on a 2001 Chevy Impala?

I had a problem with my 2004 Impala. The flashers would freeze intermittently, both turn signal and hazards. Therefore I suspected a defective flasher unit. It seems that the hazard switch and flasher are a combined unit and reqiures some dissassembly of the dash to retreive the unit and replace it.

AnswerI had to replace the turn signal flasher on my 2000 Impala it is the same unit as the 4 way flasher. The button for the 4 way on the dash is the flasher unit you have to pop off the front of the dash off to get to it there is about 8 screws 2 on the very ends under the fuse covers 2 on the panel under the steering wheel and 2 up by the speed odometer then you pop off the face off the dash be carefull not to brake off the clips Vaughn

The flasher unit is a SEPARATE unit located on the left side of the steering column. It costs about $ 15.00 from a NAPA dealer, part # EP 28.The hazard switch costs about $50.00 at NAPA dealer. Chev dealer cost is $95.00

The flasher unit and hazard switch work through the same system according to the technician at NAPA. He suggested changing the flasher unit for $15.00 before spending the $50.00 for the hazard warning unit/

Where is the flasher located on a 1998 Ford Expedition?

I have a 97 and the repair book says it's on the right side of the steering column under the dash. Try turning on the flashers and the noise under the dash should lead you to it.

If the turn signals on a 1969 Corvette suddenly stopped working what could be wrong?

Chevy CorvetteDid you check the turn signal flasher unit? It's located behind the dash panel on the passengers side. It is NOT the flasher unit located on your fuse panel.

The turn signal switch has a plug mounted on the steering column near the pedals. There are metal terminal ends crimped to the wires. Sometimes corrosion is a factor, or the terminal ends work apart. I used to back pin the plugs with my meter to check for continuity across the plug.

How do you replace a front signal light on a VW beetle?

Look at the plastic signal lens cover, near the rear, closest to the wheel and you will see a small 1/4" square screw cover. Use a small flat blade screwdriver to pop the screw cover off to reveal a Philips head screw. Remove this screw and the complete lens assembly will pull out. Once removed, the bulb holder will pull out from the lens cover assy. Replace the bulb with a new #1157 yellow bulb and reverse this procedure to reinstall.

You disconnected the batter to your 1999 Subaru Forester and now the hazard light will not stop blinking?

Under the hood of the car we found a yellow sticker with the following instructions and explanation for this "problem." To fix the blinking you need to locate a black button on the dash under the steering wheel. With the key in the ignition and in the on position press the black button to reset the system. The hazard lights should stop.

My hazards work but turn signals dont in a 1987 acura integra checked the fuses and the relay but still not working?

It could be the turn signal bulbs, some vehicles use separate bulbs for the hazard and turn signals.

It could also be a bad switch or wires for the turn signals.

How far ahead of a turn should you signal?

If there is a road-sign which shows the turning coming up, indicate just before the sign (that way drivers behind you can clearly follow what you intend to do). If there is not a road-sign, indicate just before you have to begin to slow down for the turning, leaving yourself plenty of time to break gradually.

Where is turn signal flasher located?

The turn signal flasher will be in one of two places depending on the year of the vehicle. It is either under the dash on the drivers side, or the flasher is mounted in the fuse box.

How do you fix the turn signals on a 95 Nissan Pathfinder?

Turn Signal Troubleshooting (check in this order):

· Check Fuse

· Check Bulbs

· Check Flasher Relay

· Check Turn Signal Switch in steering column

· Check switch on brake pedal

· Check license plate light bulb and wiring

· Check all wiring harnesses and wiring for shorts

Most likely its the fuse or a burnt bulb breaking the circuit. See sources and related links below for bulb information. Sometimes the license plate and/or the trailer hitch is wired into other circuits and can cause issues in other areas. Sometimes its wires grounding out somewhere on the vehicle. See sources and related links below for bulb information. See owner's manual for location and identification of fuses.

Where is the turn signal flasher located on a 2001 Toyota Corolla?

Where is flasher unit located on vw passat?

Probably depends on your model year, but in my 2002 passat the unit is actually part of the switch on the dash next to the radio. I used a small screwdriver to pry the switch out. Usually the cover pops off. If this happens I use 2 pliers to grasp the plastic rim that held the cover in place and pull straight out. As answered, the flasher and hazard switch button are all part of the same unit. The cover of the button will pry off with the screwdriver, leaving the switch (an LED sits on the face behind the translucent Hazard signal) exposed. Grasp the small plastic frame with one or two needle-nose pliers and pull straight out sharply, and the whole switch with its receiver unit will come out. Pull the switch apart from the receiver plug. The switch is only available at the dealer in the US (NAPA does not list it.) Mine cost $32. Replace the switch in reverse order, but the hazard light cover does not need to be removed -- just plug the new switch into the receiver plug (only fits one way.) Push it back into the dash, and you're done! You may have saved yourself $30 by replacing it yourself. (Would love to share pix but cannot upload into answer.)

How do you replace headlight and turn signal bulbs on a Contour - Mystique?

There are 3 screws holding the headlight assembly/lens in place:

  • 2 are readily identifiable at each end of the front-top of the lens
  • The 3rd is set towards the back and lower.

Remove those 3 and the whole lens comes out for easy bulb replacement.

By the way, this is detailed and illustrated in the Owners Manual - See "Related Questions" below for more

head light removel on a 98 contourthere is three screws on each headlight housing open the hood and remove the screws theres two on top and one hiding behind the rad support after removing the screws grab the sides of the lights and pull out it should be a little tuff but it will pull out its preety much the same to put it back in

Pop the hood turn on the lights hit the high beams locate the wire (connector) at the back of the headlamp assembly a quarter turn of the "boot" to the left should release it pull it out carefully twist out the bulb take the bulb with you to a parts store buy bulb reverse procedure!

Doug

I would bet that it has some release clips at the back of the headlamp assembly. That's right the lenses are part of the assembly. A lot have a long flat plastic retaining clip that slides in from the top to lock a protruding pin into the sheet metal holder. I don't have one to look at to give you a definite answer about removing the assembly but my reply is mainly to let you know that if you are looking to replace them because they have clouded up then you should look for someone to polish and coat them instead. There are a few businesses popping up that do that now. I saw one locally called Clean & Clear or something like that. Try a search or check with some of your local used car dealers, those guys seem to do a lot of them for dealers.

You can also polish them yourself with a liquid compound like Blue Magic (for one) plexiglass and plastic polish that Pep Boys or other parts stores sell. Use an orbital polisher or low speed angle polisher designed for polishing automotive paint. It only takes about 5 min. each. The only problem is that it (obviously) only helps the cloudiness on the outside and doesn't last very long, maybe 2-4 months. The pros that do that for a living actually use something to coat it that keeps them clear.

Good luck

go to the blown bulb open the hood directly behind the bulb is a sort of cap with wires coming out of it give that a quarter to half turn and the light should pop out check the bulb for any retainer clips if none simply pull out the old bulb and put in the new one.(do not touch any glass surfaces on the new bulb the oil on your hands will cause the new bulb to develop a hot spot and burn out prematurely

The easiest way is to remove the entire headlight assembly. There are two screws on top, easy to see, and one down behind holding a long piece of metal attached to the head light. Remove the headlight and replace the bulbs. Install is reverse.

Where is the turn signal flasher on a 1994 Chevy S-10 pick up?

check right in front of where the shifter would be on the floor. it is actually right behind where your power outlets are. You have to remove the knee panel that is under the steering wheel and radio/climate control area.

I am not sure but I think I found it on my 1994 S10. If you place your head on the floor board, driver side looking up, to the right you will see alot of wiring that goes to the back of the fuse box and other areas. There is a relay that is plugged in near the firewall. You can pull it out without disconecting or removing anything else.

My 1994 S-10 pickup is 4wd, so there is a 4wd shift console on the floor in addition to the normal column shifter. I found my turn signal flasher on the left of the driver's side, behind the parking brake pedal. It is a small silver cylinder on the firewall.

Why would you hear the blinker noise on a 2002 VW Jetta when the blinkers and hazards are not on?

This has to do with a faulty signal switch. At least that's what the dealer told me when mine was replaced (under warranty).

How to replace the front right blinker for a 1997 Jeep Grand Cherokee?

First you have to pull out the headlight. There are no screws for this it just pops out towards the front when you get enough force behind on it. Then you have access to a few screws that hold the parking/blinker light assembly. Unscrew those and you have all the room you need to change the blinker bulb. Should be the same on all 93-98 Grands.

AnswerI've got a 1996 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo V8 w/ Quadtrac & have had to replace some light bulbs in it. To get the headlight off, you have to unscrew the top screw which is in the corner closest to the fender, and then there's another screw between the headlight & the front blinker even though there's absolutely no room. I could find no way to get a screwdriver or any other took to fit in there & the repair shop had no idea how to replace it. I was told by a friend that you can get an Allen wrench in there? I ended up breaking the brackets for the bottom screws on both headlights, but you can keep the headlight staying in with just the top screw. You can then get to the screws for the blinker housing. Take off the housing because it's a lot easier to change the bulb with the housing off rather than to try to keep the housing on & trying to replace the bulb!

How do you replace the turn signal switch located on a 1996 Chevy Lumina?

Access to the turn signal switch (stalk) is done by removing the steering wheel...this is a very complicated mechanical component (many springs, bolts, etc), it is best left to a mechanic.

Answer1st disconect the battery so you do not inadvertently blow the air bag. Using a Torx #27 remove the two screws that secure the airbag to the steering wheel. Disconnect your air bag from the single yellow wire via a clip that is held in by a green safety lock tab (remove the tab disconnect the clip). Place the assembly in a secure location so it will not be damaged. Using a 21mm socket remove the steering wheel nut. Mark the location of the steering wheel with regards to its position on the geared shaft that it is mounted too. Use a steering wheel puller to remove the steering wheel. NOTE: DO NOT TRY AND REMOVE THE STEERING WHEEL ANY OTHER WAY; YOU WILL RUIN IT IF YOU DO. Using a paint pen mark the location of the airbag switch remove the snap ring and put it to the side as the wire will not allow you to put it far from the colum. A pair of snap ring pliers should do the job (various sizes exist so buy a set of good ones). The steering lock ring is what you see next mark it to its reference on the shaft. It is secured by a c clip. find the end of the clip, position it to get a scribe or an awl under one end now push on the ring to one side this will allow you to manuver the clip off the shaft. Remove the clip and ring. Next is the plastic ring with a carbon side and a copper side that acts as a conductor for the horn remove it. Next remove the plastic cover piece that is over the turn signal, wiper, cruise control switch, remove two screws that secure the lever to the turnsignal switch remove it from the colum and set it to the side of the colum total remal is not possible at this time due to wire harness. Three Torx screws secure the the turn signal switch reomove them. Next you need too remove the lower part of the dash on the drives side to access the harness from hte colum. It is located on the right side of the drivers side under the dash just above the hump before the fire wall. 7mm socket will back it out of the socket (keep backing it out until you see the the harness plug push back. One which is the upper plug is black the lower is grey and it is for your cruise, wiper washer cotrols. lift on the center of the plug and push in the direction of the recepticle this will disconnect your signal harness from the union with the other harness (sorry about the lack of nomenclature). Now you can snake the harness up the colum and out. Install in reverse order.

Where is the relay flasher on a 2002 Ford 150 Super Crew?

I recently changed mine, be warned that it is not as simple a task as it is perceived to be.

The turn signal relay flasher (or what I will be refering to as the "Flasher") is located in a black box, approx. 3 inches long, 2 inches wide, and 2.5 inches deep. This small box can be found under the dash on the driver side. To locate it, simple aim yourself between the accelerator and brake pedals, and look up. If the flasher is original, the box will be taped. Remove the tape and the clasps on each side of this box and inside will be your flasher as well as an accessory relay. The flasher is larger and closer to the passenger side than the relay, and mine was blue.

It is a tight fit. 15 minutes and 2 pulled muscles to install a six dollar part. Best of luck.

If the turn signals stopped working on a 1993 Plymouth Acclaim but the hazards and everything else works what could be wrong?

Assuming that all the bulbs work when you turn on the hazards, I would look at the flasher/relay for the turn signal. Alternatively, the turn signal switch could be bad. The flasher is located above and behind the fuse panel. Check the "trio block" to the left of fuse panel and feel if time delay relay is warm/hot(tall thin cylinder). If it is, unplug it and leave it sit for an hour or two and re-install.
