I am a welding student so I do indeed know alot about steel's/welding metals. In steel there is a cell like bond. Such as in anything else. Once heat or strees is applied you force the steel to change cell shape causeing the creak you hear, its mostly stress of the steel. This can be prevented by following pre-heating guidelines or limiting the stress on the steel. And do remember everything has a limit...so dont push to much! hope i helped
If it is original equipment, contact the dealer. If it is add on, someone with electrical expertiece can cut the wire or pull the fuse.
Where is the water pump located on a 1997 Ford Contour 2.5 V6?
Perhaps this will help... for a complete R/R I just replaced the WP on a 96 2.5 as follows... DANGEROUS CHEMICAL NOTICE REGARDING GLYCOL BASED COOLANT: WASH DOWN THE WORK AREA COMPLETELY WITH WATER REMOVING ALL TRACES OF COOLANT. ANIMALS AND SMALL CHILDREN LIKE THE TASTE OF COOLANT AND IT IS FATAL- REPEAT- FATAL, THIS COULD BE YOUR CHILD OR PET. DISPOSE OF COOLANT PROPERLY, CHECK WITH YOUR LOCAL GARAGE OR AUTO PARTS STORE. Viewing the engine from the front of the car, there is a plastic cover between the FWD cylinder bank and the front frame. Remove the 3x screws w/ 7mm; there is the WP on the right hand side at the bottom of the belt. WITH THE ENGINE DEAD (overnight) COLD REMOVE the battery completely, 10mm wrench for clamps, deep 10mm for hold-down nuts. Place a nice size (3gal) tub under the car and loosen the coolant cap- left side, looking aft. Remove the clamps on the short rubber hose between the forward metal pipe that runs under the fwd cyl, bank and the thermostat assembly; remove the short rubber hose. Below the thermostat is an electrical connector (MTX), push down on the tab, pull back out of the way. bag it if you're paranoid or just use a good contact cleaner upon re-assembly Undo the 1 in diam. coolant hose just aft of the thermostat assembly; that's why there's a coupler there. Remove the FWD of the thermostat assembly, 2 x 8mm, remove T-stat an crushed O-ring, replace both upon re-assembly... about $12.00 On the top left side of the belt tensioner, there's a notch for a screwdriver blade. Push the tensioner back and remove the belt. Remove the tensioner assembly 1x 8mm. Remove all bolts holding the WP, (Long and short 8mm and 1/4 in flex drive is really nice) start at the thru-bolt nearest the top and lay out in sequence of removal on the plastic trim piece in front of the front windscreen (96) Look down from the top of the WP and you will see an area where you can place a large screwdriver blade and GENTLY torque off the right side of the WP. Scrape off the old gasket material on the engine side, look for debris and trouble. NOT IN THE MANUAL! Affix the new WP gasket to the WP with a THIN coating of #2 NON-hardening Permatex; do NOT use on the engine side. Align all holes on the gasket, remove excess, set by gently warming with a hair dryer. Make sure it's tacky enough that the gasket doesn't move around Replace WP, replace bolts in sequence with a final cross-pattern torquing of ONE finger's torque on the wrench. Replace tensioner. Replace new thermostat vent rivet to the top, O-ring goes on the outside of the assy. connect front of assembly 2x 8mm Clean electrical connector with spray contact cleaner that IS SAFE for plastic, DO NOT use brake-kleen. Check to make sure it's locked down. Replace WP drive belt per decal on front frame. Replace short connector hose and clamps . Re-connect 1" coolant line Replace a few quarts of coolant and check for leaks, engine off (Don't ask me why)NO LEAKS? Proceed. Replace front cover, 3x 7mm Install battery, fire up, check for leaks WASH DOWN THE WORK AREA COMPLETELY WITH WATER REMOVING ALL TRACES OF COOLANT. ANIMALS AND SMALL CHILDREN LIKE THE TASTE OF COOLANT AND IT IS FATAL- REPEAT- FATAL, THIS COULD BE YOUR CHILD OR PET. DISPOSE OF COOLANT PROPERLY, CHECK WITH YOUR LOCAL GARAGE OR AUTO PARTS STORE. For anyone working on a car's cooling system, you MUST check out the MUST-HAVE tool for dealing with those spring-type hose clamps!!
This tool has a pinching device on the end to securely grab the 'ears' on the hose clamp - squeeze the handle to open the clamp, and then automatically lock it open.
The next awesome feature of this tool: the clamping action is on the end of a cable - you work it down to the clamp buried down underneath, or directly next to some part of the engine - minimal clearance required. The very very best $40 you will ever invest into your tool collection!
Sears makes one - check it out at a local store and linked below.

How do you disable the governor on your 2001 Volkswagen Jetta?

How do you replace the alternator on a 2003 VW Jetta TDI?
- review the Haynes or Bentley manual to orientate the parts
- Disconnect battery negative cable,
- Remove engine cover,
- loosen passenger side front wheel
- raise vehicle passenger front, set on stand , remove wheel,
- remove the electrical connections from the alternator, including the small nut which holds the wires to the alternator body.
- mark the belt direction with a crayon
- from underneath vehicle, release tension on belt by, using a 5/8" wrench and an extension, remove belt,
- remove the three 13mm bolts for the tensioner assembly. remove tensioner,( it may fall through to the bottom of the vehicle.
- loosen the two 13mm bolts holding the alternator
- Loosen the clamp and pull free the coolant hose next to the alternator, there will be some coolant loss, so have a rag handy
- place a rag under work area and remove the oil pressure indicator wire and switch from the side of the oil filter bracket. Pull wire aside
- from the top of vehicle, wiggle the alternator from its bracket. This may take some effort, as it is securely in place. From the bottom of the vehicle, with a screwdriver, you may be able to get it started by prying a small screwdriver between the alternator body an engine. Be careful, do not force too much. Forcing unevenly may jam the unit, requiring a start over.
- Once sufficiently loose, from the top of the compartment, slowly work the unit towards the oil filter bracket. Twist and turn unit pass the A/C hose. With patience it will come out.
- Install is reverse of above, put some grease in the bracket areas beforehand to help slide new unit in place.

How can you manually close your 97 Saturn SC2 Sunroof that is stuck open?
There are two little hydraulics at the front of your sunroof. One on the left and one on the right. They sit at about a 45 degree angle. Take something like a window scraper, that's what I use and push on the backside of the hydraulic. It will push in and you will feel your sunroof go down slightly. Do the same thing to the other side. Get out of your car and you should then be able to push the sunroof the rest of the way down from outside of the car. Note: If it doesn't push down easy don't force it or you will break the glass.

I Have a 1997 VW Cabrio, which is esseintially a convertable Jetta/Golf. I purchased the car used & it had an aftermarket stereo in it when I purchased it and the stock alarm worked. I think it is possible, because your stereo was stolen & The wires were cut, you may not be using a wiring harness. Using the appropriate harness is probably the key to having your alarm work w/the aftermarket stereo. My suggestion is to have the aftermarket stereo proffesionally installed. VW's, in my experience, tend to be picky machines, even though I love them. Before having the Pioneer installed it also may be wise to check your local salvage yards that have either a Jetta, Golf or Cabrio with the same configuration of your model and cut the factory harness out of the wrecked vehicle. If you take that to a stereo shop or VW dealership/Import professional they could wire that in, so that the appropriate harness to convert your stock stereo wiring to a pioneer could be accomplishied by simply pluging your stock harness into an aftermaket harness to fit your new pioneer stereo. I know it may sound complicated by the way I am describing this to you, but it really isn't. Finding the stock harness, ,which I would bet was stolen w/your stereo may be the most difficult hurdle for you. If you can't find one locally, there are search engines online for salvage yards and you could find on that way. A note of intrest for you regarding installing aftermaket stereos into VWs: The heat vents in my 97 run directly above the head unit and if you run your heater for a while, like during winter, the heated air blowing out directly above your stereo may cause problems. Just another VW quirk. I had to have small cooling fans installed on my stereo b/c the heater would overheat my stereo if I drove the car for aprox. over an hour or more. I'd hate to see you get the stereo installed properly, have the alarm working correctly & then boom, your stereo dies b/c it overheated. You can tell when your stereo overheats b/c you can "hear" it. I definitely suggested having these cooling fans installed to protect your investment. I wiswh I could explain this better, but when it comes down to it, you need that stock harness & it would be wise to have the new stereo proffesionally installed, even if you know how. VWs can be picky & this is one of those things your better off to have a professional handle. It will avoid alot of frustration, & in the end will probably save you money. Good luck. I wish I could help more.

Can the ignition switch on an 82 Yamaha XS650 be replaced with any universal ignition switch?
I would say no. Wiring is different for different models, makes and years. If you don't want an ignition switch from the manufacturer, you can purchase an aftermarket one for your bike All the dealers need is the year, make and model of the bike. mine runs the ignition switch from a 250 honda, as long as you take care to match up the positive feeds to the correct switch positions then no problem
Why do tail lights not work on 2003 volkswagen jetta?
I just had a similar problem on my 2003 jetta. They replaced the bulbs and it turns out to be a faulty break light switch as well. Make sure to get it checked ASAP otherwise your shifter could get stuck in park.
Why Side mirror not heating in VW passat?
Is it just one mirror? I would look at a possible broken wire or heating element on the mirror. If it is both, I would look at a possible bad switch since it affects both mirrors.
What is wrong with the car if the malfunction indicator lamp comes on and the car starts shaking?
There could be many problems with your car depending on the code. For instance, you have to go to a mechanic or car shop for them to hook this plug up to your car. It will give you a code and that code will tell you exactly what is wrong with your car. The MIL came up on my car before and I had to change the thermostat of my car. Once you have the code, you can just google it and it should tell you the problem as all the codes are generic. Hope this helps.
