How do you change the alternator on a 1993 Mitsubishi Diamante?

Everyone should have a manual for their vehicle, and the library should have a professional shop manual available, for FREE, in the reference section(make copies of the correct sections) read up and fix it like a PRO! :) good luck-Dave ---------- First, disconnect the battery and unplug the alternator, then loosen and remove the main serpentine belt. The alternator is bolted onto the engine quite securely with a bracket that runs over the top. This bracket has two bolts on top, and one on the side that's quite difficult to get to (use a small ratchet). Hold the assembly in place so it doesn't fall while you unbolt the mounting bracket from the alternator; remove the bracket, then the alternator. To re-install the alternator, put the alternator in first, then bolt the bracket back onto it. Bolt the whole thing securely onto the engine, then replace the serpentine belt (don't make it too tight!). Plug the alternator in, reconnect the battery, and it should be good to go! ~Pengauin

Where is the PCV valve 1998 frontier?

On the right side of the engine, below the intake (in the area of the oil filter). It screws into the side of the block and is pretty hard to find.

On a 1997 Chevy Cavalier how do you disable the theft system from activating?

Proud owner of a 1997 Cavalier. Cavaliers are known for having problems with the ATS (Anti-theft System). I do have to give Chevy props because they have a system that actually disables the car. Anyway, The ignition switch in a Cavalier has to read the key. The computer has a code that has to either match with the key or it has to complete the code. The best way is to stick the key in the ignition and turn it to the "on" position. DON'T crank it! Just leave it in the "on" position. The ATS light might start flashing. One key thing is that you should listen for the fuel pump to start. Crank the car on. The reason why you should wait after you turn the key to the "on" position is because it will give the computer some time to read the key. If you turn it on and the ATS is activated, then you have to wait ten minutes. Leave the key in the "on" position. After the ten minutes the light should stop flashing. When it stops flashing then you can turn the car on.

Note: When you turn the key to the "on" position, you should be able to hear the fuel pump run. If you can't hear the fuel pump, then the ATS system is ready to shut the car off. If the Anti-theft System is starting to give you problems, then your best bet is to start thinking about a visit to the dealership or a shop. Its a problem that starts off like a bite from a brown recluse spider. It's small at first but then it gets to be a huge problem if not given any treatment.

How do you remove headrest in a 1997 Chevy Cavalier?

I just removed the headrests from my 95 Cavalier. No one really had a good way to do it other then cutting or totally remove the clips from the seat up. It's quite easy if you have the right tools. Take a old windshield wiper blade and remove the metal stainless steel strips. Cut them into 3 inch pcs. Bend it into the shape of an "L" (1"x2" roughly). Trim the long end into a point. Make two of them. Climb into the back seat behind the seat you what to remove the head rest from. Lift the headrest all the way up, Insert the long end of the "L", down the back side of the headrest shaft 3/4 of the way down. The short leg of the "L" should be pointing at you. Using both hands, and force the short part of the "L" to the right of both shafts. What your trying to do is to slide the flat part of the "L" between the shaft and the retaining clip. It only catches on the right side of both shafts. The short part of the "L" may end up pointing at the right frt headlight before it releases the clip. You'll know that you got it when you're able to lift the headrest straight up and out. The clip stays in place and life is good. Good luck

What causes 1 turn signal to be slow?

USUALLY, when one signal is slower than the other, it's an indication that one of the bulbs, rear or front, is burned out. Without starting the car, turn the key to the "on" position, turn the left signal on and walk around the car and check all the bulbs on that side. Do the same to the right side. I bet you will find at least one bulb that is out. Good Luck! <<<adr>>>

How do you adjust the power brakes in a 1986 Chrysler 5TH Avenue?

This question needs clarification. What are you trying to adjust? The level of power brake assist is not adjustable. The only part of the brakes that adjusts (and it should do this automatically) is the back brakes. If these need adjusting, then the automatic adjusters should be replaced so they function properly.

What causes wipers to occasionally stop in mid travel on 2002 Chevy cavalier?

Sounds like a bad connection somewhere. Check the wiring harness to the wiper motor for good connection. Check wiper motor ground too. (note: had a car once where the wiper motor was just loose.) If no help, maybe you have a bad wiper switch.

What does the water with a down arrow mean on the gauge lights of a 98 Cavalier?

It means that you either have a wire loose on the reservor or need to add some coolant to it. It should be located on the right front fender. There is a wire plug on the bottom, if it is loose it will show that you need some coolant. Yeah, a water down symbol would probably indicate low coolant? Anyway, gotta love the days when GM used lights that actually said "coolant low" instead of stupid symbols.

93 cavalier heater runs cold after awhile. The car will heat up but will quit blowing hot air and start blowing cooler air after about 15 mins. Any ideas why it would quit blowing hot air?

First of all, if you've had any work done to the cooling system lately, or for some reason it has gotten extremely low and you've had to add a lot, you may just need to "bleed" the cooling system. There could be air pockets built up. Turn the heat lever to the hottest position, remove the radiator cap and let the car run to normal operating temperature. Let it cool completely down and top off the coolant. If this isn't the problem it's possible that there is blockage in the system somewhere. It could be the heater core itself or a fitting. My 92 3.1 has a heater outlet just below the thermostat housing. When I took it off while doing some other work it was so stopped up the tip of an ink pen wouldn't have fit through it. Hope that gives you a place to start.

Mean of 2 4 5 1 3?

The mean of 2, 4, 5, 1, and 3 is 3. To find the mean of a set of numbers, you first add them all up. 2+4+5+1+3= 15. Then you divide that sum by the number of numbers in the set. 15/5= 3.

Will tire chain size 215 60r15 work on 215 70r15 tire?

I tried to fit the chains for a 215/70R15 on a 215/60R15, and the chains were too large. I suspect in your case the chains will be too small.

My car starts but dies within a few seconds any ideas?

Check the battery, or the alternator, check for a missing fuss or maybe your spark plugs aren't catching, check the gas line, get more gas, check the transmission. If your car hasn't been running for a long time then let it run for a couple minutes.
