when kick down the gas pedal to accelerate, the car downshift but then stalls and then engine stays rough until i turn off the engine and restart it then the engine runs normal again till the next kick down.
Your pressure washer does not have pressure anymore?
There is no single simple answer. Your manual, or a manual from your manufacturer's website will give you some troubleshooting suggestions. I can detail a list of the most likely problems, but you are not likely to understand or be able to act upon the information without extensive step by step information. And, I don't even know which model and pump you have. Several different pump designs may have some problems more likely then others. Check the nozzle on the end of the wand to make sure it is not clogged. Check that your hose delivers a proper water flow. Most other problems require significant pump knowledge... the unloader can be stuck, the valves can be damaged or full of trash, the key-way could be sheared, the oil end could be "fried"..ie bad bearings, broke pistons or retainers. Seals are not usually the cause of a complete lack of pressure..especially if there is no leaking water. Some pumps use easy start valves that may fail. All pumps have a kick-back or restrictor outlet valve that will inhibit pressure development when held open with trash.
Does a knock sensor and water pump work together?
No, the knock sensor helps the engine computer control ignition timing. The water pump pumps coolant through the engine, heater, and radiator.
Why does a 2001 ford escort stall out when stopped?
It could be that there is a vacuum leak which is making the mixture too lean to keep the engine running or it could be a bad IAC (Idle Air Control) which compensates for an added load at idle. Take the IAC off and clean it with some carbureter cleaner then oil it up. It's right on top of the throttle body. It looks like a small motor with a couple of wires running into it. Use an 8 MM socket to take the 2 screws out.
Wrong timing or dirty plugs.
Can be a multitude of causes usually due to incomplete combustion from an unbalanced air/fuel mix, poor spark delivery or lack of compression resulting in a slight miss or misfire which sends unburned fuel to "pop off" in your exhaust. Some is to be expected and normal, for example a sudden change in throttle position, like decelerating but it should not be routine. Start by checking for spark, have codes read if CEL is on and then move on to compression test if that looks good. If it's cylinder specific (code points to specific cylinder) , Check plug and wire on that cylinder/ Check plug gap and if any are fouled. Pull them one at a time if you have to to isolate cylinder (use insulated tool) Good luck.
Check for damaged or inoperative idle control valve assembly.
What is the best way to stop when your car stalls?
It depends on your vehicle make and year. When your engine stops, if you have power steering, you will lose the power provided from the power steering pump. You will not lose steering. You may have to apply more pressure to the steering wheel to turn but you will still be able to steer. Slowly pull off the road to the right and make sure that your vehicle is completely off the road. Your brakes may also feel different because they are also no longer being assisted by the engine but your brakes will still work. You again may have to push a little harder then when your engine is running. DO NOT TURN OFF YOUR KEY until the car has come to a complete stop.! Turning your key off may lock your steering wheel which will not allow you to steer off the roadway. Always try to pull off at a safe place when possible.
Why Engine Light comes on and 1987 Buick Stalls?
You better check the computer code ASAP it may let you down on the road. Mine did.
97 Chevy Cavalier starts fine then ABS lights come on and car stalls shortly after?
go and have your brakes checked out it could be anumber of things but have it checked out and they can tell you exactly what is wrong!
Why does your dodge Dakota 1997 keep on cutting out?
my 94' did this too. Travel about 15 minutes, then instantly, cut off. Usually after 20 minutes it would restart (summer & winter temps). One shop replaced the fuel pump for $400., then with more troubles, a chip at the base of the distributor. I finally figured that a computer component would overheat, so put in new one. From that moment on, 1-1/2 years later, the trouble never came back! Best $150. I ever spent.
What does the symbol that looks like an engine mean?
check engine light. it means you should eather check your "codes" or go to an auto shop and tell them your check engine light is on. sometimes its free.
What is the firing order for 1994 3.1L Oldsmobile?
firing order is 1-2-3-4-5-6 coil packs should be numbered in the order they fire. from front of engine left side is 1 3 5 right side 2 4 6
A bad brake booster will cause a vacuum leak, result in poor braking, and even poor engine performance. The brake booster has a large diaphragm which can fail and leak.
On an older car (pre fuel injection) it would mean an incorrectly adjusted carb. ( minor problem) On a later model ( post 1990 ) with fuel injection I would suspect a bad TPS switch ( throttle position sensor) which does not recognize that the throttle is closing. If it is a later model vehicle, have the computer codes pulled as it could be other sensors etc. I hope this helps you a little. Mark
Carb cleaner doesn't really clean anything when you spray it down the throat of the carburater. The parts that need cleaning are the jets and internal lines. The only way to truly clean those parts is to remove the carbuater, disassemble it and clean the parts. Some carb cleaners can make a little difference if you run them through the tank, but spraying down the throat only gets a little surface carbon off, if that.
--------------------------
The main reason to spray OTMAN carb cleaner at a carb while the bike is running to check for a vacuum leak. If you hear any change in the engine noise when you spray carb cleaner at the joint between the carb and the head, then you've got a vacuum leak. Get a new carb-to-head gasket.
Your 1989 Chevy Blazer S10 4.3L shuts off while driving then is hard to start what is the problem?
If you have higher miles it is probably the EGR valve at the front of the intake manifold, below the injector plenum. This valve lets exhaust gases from the crank case back into the intake of the engine to be recirculated, burned. It is a stupid system because it becomes caked up with oily residue and stalls out the engine or makes it run very erratic. This valve can be taken out and cleaned or replaced and a little screen is also sold that can be installed in the valve to stop the big pieces from coming through and screwing things up. Getting to the valve is not the easiest thing to to but a good owner shop Manuel will show you where it is and how to take it out.
Why is there no spark on a 97 astro van?
Check:
* Battery - find out if other things work, lights, radio, etc. Check connections to battery.
* Spark plugs - see if they're corroded. Check connects from plugs to distributor.
* Distributor Cap - make sure it's seated fine, and the spinning node inside is free to move.
What does p 195 65 r 15 mean on a tire?
the 195 is how many milimeters wide the tire is, the /65 stands for a percentange of the 195, so the side wall of your tire will be 65% of 195, and r/15 is a 15 inch rim size ,$ushil, india
There is a vacuum hose between the firewall and the back of the motor, it is formed with the 2 ends different diameters. The hose collapses when it is running which causes the engine to stall. I believe this is a dealer only item. Just replaced mine and the car runs fine now.
Take it to auto zone and have the codes read for free.
its just a vacuum hose probably. mine did it before too.
Autozone will not provide enough help.
Pull the codes from the computer, match the code to the troubleshooting procedure, follow the procedure to find the source. Repair the source, light will go out if that was the only problem. There are "monitors" or self tests the computer runs the car through a drive cycle, if a problem occurs, it may not run all of the self tests until that problem is taken care. Therefore, another problem may exist. It is emission related. OR hook up a scanner that is capable of clearing codes, and hope that none are still active.
Check that the Oxygen sensors are correctly installed and working. Also check with your ford dealership to see if your car is one of many that needs a new FUEL pump. Ford has a TSB on this and will replace it for free... I have a 2003 Focus SVT with all the same problems.
could be a PCV Valve. My 01' Ford Escort with similar engine needed that recently. Appox 5 dollars easy fix.
My 2000 Focus wagon had the exact same problem and I could hear vacuum sucking in the engine compartment. In the end it was two failures at once: 1) the PCV hose failure like everyone else, and 2) a broken white plastic vacuum cap on the intake manifold.
Some folks have luck simply replacing the odd-sized PCV hose with the Ford replacement, but I was not so lucky. In my case both ends of the PCV line (under the intake manifold and connected to the PCV valve) were bust. So, to replace the entire assembly I did the following:
I bought a "PCV elbow" (by Help! auto parts), hose clamps, 3 feet of 7/16" fuel line, and a replacement PCV valve all from Pep Boys. I bought a 1/2" brass hose connector from Lowe's. I connected the elbow to the fuel line with the brass connector and secured the PCV valve in the other end of the fuel line with a hose clamp. I removed the old hoses and PCV valve and replaced them with the new rig. I had to route the new hose around the engine block, but there was plenty of room.
I still had vacuum leaking and a really rough idle after replacing the PCV line. I found the source of the leak by using a length of hose as a stethoscope. It was a rotten, white plastic cap on the intake manifold. I bought a set of rubber vacuum plugs (by Help! auto parts) from Pep Boys and one was a perfect fit.
After both of these fixes the idle was back to where it was a couple of years ago. Good luck!
the vaccume hose is broken and is over heating you need to replace it for only $500
:if nothing has helped so far, check your egr valve as it probably just needs a good cleanin'. egr stands for exhaust gas recirculation and is usually located between the exhaust manifold and the intake manifold. it gives metered, pre-heated air from the exhaust to the carburetor and generally has carbon deposits on it. it sounds like yours has an abundance of carbon in the passage causing the car to die when your approaching a stop sign or something. What side effects a oil pan leak causes?
an oil pan leak is adding oil to the already polluted environment, causes you to drive with your car a bit low on oil at times, and causes unsightly stains under the car .aside from all this if you monitor the oil level and keep it where it should be , not much of anything else ,i can think of,
It's a speed sensor switch on the car that needs to be replaced. I don't know where the first answer is coming from. I'm not aware of any switch regarding the speed sensors, maybe I'm tired. I would suspect a problem in the electrcial system- battery, alternator being the most probable. answer speed sensor will not shut down ans engine nor will it prevent it from cranking or starting. sounds like an electrical problem to me could even be your ignition switch most likely in your computer if it was battery anew battery will fix it also a a bad battery will affect your computer alternator will not stop it from cranking
Why is your car bucking while going up hill?
I am a Program Advisor at Amistad Academy MS in New Haven, CT. My team was selected by itorcporaning writing into our process. Students had to write a one paragraph essay answering these questions:•What qualities do you have that you can bring to the FUTP 60 team?•How important is eating healthy and exercising to you?•Name two ideas/activities you have that will motivate students to participate in FUTP 60.•Why do you think FUTP 60 is so important? The purpose of itorcporaning writing was to get the students to really think about "why" they wanted to participate in our group. When the students were selected (10 out of 15), we began planning events for the year and working with our Food Service Director. Here are some of the activities we have created over the past 5 months:•Created a 60 minute presentation at a school-wide Town Meeting as our Kick-off event. Parents were invited…big success•A food survey was created for the students to see what they liked about our breakfast and lunch menu, and what they would like to see changed.•We post monthly questions on the walls around our school building. They included fitness, science, nutrition and health questions that are rotated every 4 weeks.•Posted FUTP 60 stickers & posters EVERYWHERE in our building…you can't miss us!•Fuel Up Fridays at breakfast (We dance, exercise and/or stretch for 5 minutes during breakfast to get our students moving for the day.•Taste tests - during lunch (new fruits, raw veggies, dips etc.)•Fitness breaks - teachers randomly use them when they feel the need…ex. if the energy level in class is low or students seem off task•Participated in the FUTP 60 School Spirit Challenge•Have a student representative that is now the CT State Representative for FUTP 60 by entering the state application process•Created a poster contest for National Physical Fitness & Sport MonthMy team of students have enjoyed creating fitness activities and making positive changes around our school. There is a great sense of pride in every activity that we participate in. We appreciate having the opportunity to engage our school in fun activities that challenge them to think about what they eat, and to include exercise into their daily lifestyle.Althea White (PE Teacher)
What is wrong when a car don't accelerate after stopping at a red light?
If your acceleration is slow or non-existent, you probably have something wrong with either fuel or air delivery. Check your idle settings, MAF or MAP sensor, cleanliness of the throttle body, fuel pressure, and vacuum leaks.
