my 2000 oldsmobile did this after it got an antifreeze hose behind the motor and come find out ... the mechanic accidently broke off the VACCUM hose that goes from the top front of the motor to a couple connection areas.
prob a vacume leak
Battery, battery cable or connections, starter problem, ignition switch not working. Be more specific please.
There could be many reasons why a car has an issue starting in the morning but not the afternoon. The most common start is that the battery has an issue with cold start, and would need to be replaced with a battery that does have a cold start option.
Check your alternator
From your description I would say you could rule out the battery but not the alternator (the part that charges the battery) but it's most likely the starter
My CRX did this years ago and I think it was a loose belt, somehow related to the clutch? Generally, that squealing noise is caused by a loose/old/worn out fan belt. It's a quick, easy fix that doesn't cost too much. When you pop the hood, the fan that is closest to the front bumper has a rubber belt, that's the fan belt. Take it off and replace it with a new one. On most vehicles it's easy enough to do this yourself, just make sure you get the proper part for your make/model.
What is check engine code P1491 for 2002 dodge ram 1500?
Code P1491 means Rad fan control relay circuit. on a 2002 Ram check the fuse for the ac condenser. it is a 25 am fuse and it is located in row closest to rad and closest to engine. if fuse is blown it will look a milky colour.I know this for a fact as I just had to change mine as it had blown. The condenser fan motor is probably going bad and that is what blows the fuse.
Please specify what model year and engine size, or just check for _vacuum leaks_ or a failed IAC. Note that a leaky intake duct (snorkel) from the air filter housing (or a clamp on same) is also a vacuum leak. A failed IAC cannot cause a stall if you press the accelerator (gas) pedal just a bit. Insufficient fuel pressure can also cause this sort of problem. Common causes for insufficient fuel pressure are a failed pump, leaky pulsator or pickup hose, low fuel level, active anti-theft immobilizer, or faulty fuel pressure regulator. A clogged filter can also lead to low pressure, but not at initial startup.
Check for vacuum leaks first. SRSly.
Yes - at the compression stroke both valves are closed (ready to fire)
at the exhaust stroke the exhaust valve is open
My escalade ran out of gas and wont start what do I do?
If you suddenly became low on fuel, perhaps you thought you had gas. then you ran out of gas, you tried filling the gas and then it didn't start. I would say that your fuel pump needs replacing.
No spark?
could be a bad ignition coil
How do you replace a starter on a Ford F-150?
best thing to do is obtain the ford manual either online or from an auto parts store and follow the step by step instructions down to the letter
the most likely cause is a flat battery and or dirty battery terminals check all electrical connections from battery to starter (hope this helps)
#1. Are you waiting between pushing your power button to the on position and pushing the starter? The electronic injection takes about 2 seconds to cycle through the power. if you are waiting and nothinghappens you need to look at the "LED" and see if it blinks anymore than 3 times or in 'Morse code'. If you are getting a Morse code blinik then look in the back of your owners manual for the sequence and see the error message. Most likely you will have to see a dealer/repari shop. You did not say what your voltmeter is showing?
2. Is your key/fork lock turned all the way to the start position? Did you leave it over winter and not start? Time to get cleaning the lines.
3. if you hear nothing at all and 1 and 2 above don't address it then it is going to be beyond normal error so get to a harley shop.
Well you should use the emergancy break or jump out of the car when you have the best chance.
Car over heated and will not start?
most likely sieze your engine need to get it unseized if the damage is not too bad
Why does engine turn over but wont start?
You need 3 things to make every engine run. You need fuel pressure, good spark, and compression in the cylinders. Start with these 3 things and go from there. Hope this helps
There is a good chance the battery terminals are getting corroded. Pull them off and with a terminal cleaner ensure they are good and clean. It also could be the battery starting to have problems. You can go into an auto shop and they can test that for you.
Actually this is most likely an issue with the passlock system. If the car is blinking "security" in the message center, turn the key to on position but do not try to start it. Let it sit for about 10 minutes with the key still in the on position. Once the "security" warning stops blinking, turn the key and it should start right up.
I have had this problem for over a year now. I realized that using the key to unlock the door and locking the doors from inside when leaving the car greatly reduces the amount of times that this happens. I also no longer activate the car alarm as this seems to be part of the issue too.
What does a starter look like?
i need to go under my car and tap the starter so it will start.i am trying to surprise my hubby with breaksfast but i have to go to the store.
How do I figure out if it is the fuel pump or a sensor and which sensor it would be?
Even if the fuel pump has died you should still receive spark... Injectors or fuel filter might be clogged not allowing fuel to pass through the injectors... and as for no spark might just be a bad Coil... Also, you can tell when a Fuel Pump has gone bad because when you turn the key to run you should hear a Noise coming from the pump as it pressurizes... also check battery... if the battery is bad it wont allow juice to get to the pump nor let it get to the coil. but it might have enough power to turn dome light on, fooling you to think that everything is ok... ive had a bad battery before where the car wouldn't start but dome light was on just enough so I wouldn't notice anything... but it was the battery... one other thing I forgot to mention, if the fuel pump isn't pressurizing or isn't doing anything at all it might also be the Fuel Pump Relay that's mounted on the driver side inner fender.
It sounds like the A.S.D. relay has gone. The Auto Shut Down relay mentioned above is located on the driver's side of the engine bay, close to the battery. It is usually the furthest forward of about four relays, depending on the car's options, and looks like a small cube bolted to the side of the engine bay with a bunch of wires coming from the bottom of it. It can shut off the ignition and the fuel injection system.
could be anything, no the altanator will not keep it from starting but if it was bad the battery would die after running for a while. first see if your getting spark by removing a plug connect it to the wire, ground it and crank, look for a spark, if you have it then you probably have a fuel problem, or no fuel :( don't rely on your gauge). on way to tell if the pump is working is remove the gas cap and liston when someone else turns the key on, you should hear a hum for a few seconds the it will shut off.
My car won't start it will only make a clicking noise What could be wrong?
More than likely the battery is to weak to start the engine. If it's not the battery, the starter may be the culprit.
