I'm not totally sure because I have to see it and take a look but it sounds like your starter is going bad. Either that or I would say that it is the solenoid switch gone bad. If this doesn't answer your question please go into better detail because I would like to help you figure tha problem out. :-)
How does ignition control unit operate?
a control unit works by this other thing that makes it work but it also saves things.
Why Polo playa 1.6 wont start?
my polo playa struggles to start, battery light goes on , ignition works but still nothing . Think it could be the fuel pump
What makes a new starter make a sreeching noise when being started?
Probably a missing spacer between starter and engine block, may have fallen out during change over
Why is there no spark going to your engine?
There are a number things that can cause no ignition spark. A typical ignition system consists of an ignition module, ignition coil, some type of stator or pickup (distributer pickup, crank sensor, etc), plug wires that carry secondary ingition fire to the plugs(some have no wires, but individual coils directly on top of the spark plugs), spark plugs, wiring that provides primary power to the componets, wiring that provides grounds to the system, and some cars have a distributer(though distributers have been getting phased out for about the last 10-15 years). Anything at all in that system that has failed will cause no spark to one or more cylinders.
Sounds like the battery has a dead cell
What does it mean when car starter makes buzzing noise?
It's typically either a discharged battery or a poor battery connection. Batteries are only an electrical storage device. If the alternator isn't keeping the battery adequately charged you could have the problem you describe. But rather than running right out and replacing the battery, first charge it and see if it will hold a charge overnight. Sometimes, if something is left on inside the car it will run the battery down sufficiently to cause what you describe. Other times it's the alternator, dirty battery terminal or even a worn out battery, but you can't know until you test these components.
How to open a 2001 Nissan Maxima GLE without a key?
catch a ride to the nearest auto parts store & buy a "slimjim"
you may also want to check the controller. it tells the relay how long to stay on. Your glow plugs don't stay on all the time. If your wait to start light doesn't stay on very long, then your controller is telling the relay to turn off. If the light isn't coming on at all then i would definetely check the controller. First check the 50amp fuse in the under hood block.
Not sure if this will help ya or not but I use to work on hummers for the army. when our diesel's did that it was the glow plugs. So you might replace what ever part on there it is that makes the fuel ignight. I don't know much about regular diesel engines.
Have you checked to see if the security system is shutting you down?
Try the fuel pump relay
What are timing specs for 1991 mighty max?
The specs call for the engine to be timed correctly for proper operation. Hope this helps!
My 2002 laguna clicks but won't start?
Jump it, there is not enough power to starter. Ensure alternator and battery are good.
Why will a 1993 dodge caravan start sometimes and wont start a other times?
Your 1993 Dodge Caravan might start sometimes and not start other times because of a bad starter or solenoid. You might also have a weak battery or a charging system that is not working correctly. This could also be an issue with the distributor.
When cranking engine turns over but no start?
What are the three elements needed in order to make an engine run. You need air, fuel and spark, minus one from this equation and you get nothing. So, with that said go through your check list for your electrical and fuel system.
It's probably the battery is dead.
doese it have gas and fire
It is the part of the starter where the gears that engaged with the flywheel are installed. The bendix contains the gear, clutch, and spring in one unit.
When the starter functions properly but the engine doesn't start, there are only 3 possibilities:
If all three of the above are normal, the engine MUST start.
First, check the fuel delivery. Use a can of starting fluid to test the hypothesis that the problem might be related to fuel. Remove the air cleaner and have a friend attempt to start the engine while you spray a good, healthy stream into the intake. Only spray while the starter is cranking or while the engine is running. If the engine tries to start when you're spraying starting fluid into the intake, but it stops as soon as you quit spraying the starting fluid, you almost certainly have a fuel delivery problem. The common causes are; fuel pump, pressure regulator, fuel filter, injectors or crankshaft position sensor.
Next, (since starting fluid didn't find the problem) check the spark. The Saturn "S" series uses a coil-pack assembly, meaning that one coil is used for two cylinders, and each coil fires when the associated cylinders are at TDC of the compression cycle and the exhaust cycle. Use a timing light to verify that there is, in fact, a spark, and that it is relatively close to TDC as expected. Also, connect a spare spark-plug to one of the plug wires, set it on a solid metal part of the engine, then have your friend "crank" the engine again while you watch the sparkplug to see if you're getting a strong spark. If not, find out why. Usually a faulty coil-pack assembly will result in only 2 of the cylinders misfiring.
Last, run a compression test. Pull the spark-plugs (mark the wires so you'll know where they go), then use a compression gague to find out what the compression is for each cylinder. The compression should be around 85-110 PSI for each cylinder, and ideally the compression shouldn't be more than a few PSI different across all cylinders.
If ALL of the tests looked good, you have done something wrong, since as I indicated above, if you have proper fuel delivery, good spark delivered at the right time and good compression, the engime must start.
Good luck.
Try putting gas in it : ) or if it was involved in a collision the fuel cut off switch may be set. also the electronic ignition switch is known for issues.
Starving for fuel. Start by making sure the fuel pump is running. Turn the ignition on without starting the car and listen for the pump. It should run for a few seconds and then shut off if you don't start the engine. If you hear nothing, check the fuse. If the fuse is good then it can be a defective fuel pump relay, pump itself, or on rare occasions a bad computer. If you hear the pump run and then shut off, suspect a clogged fuel filter, defective fuel pressure regulator, or an extremely weak fuel pump that is running but pumping no fuel.
before checking ur fuel system if ur not getting gas check ur fuse box under the hood i had this problem an it was the master fuse in the box in my car it was a 30 amp fuse that caused a list of problems aswell as not starting
well.....this might help,
I have a 93 mx3 with the v6 from the mx6 swapped. But anyway...I had the same distributor issue on my 1.8 v6. Replaced the distributor, then literally about a mile away from the shop is stopped working again. First question, do you have platinum plugs in there right now? if you do... get rid of them. they help burn out the distributor. second. I found that there alot of time is faulty wiring on the actual harness leading to the distributor. Ever since i swapped the engine however I have not had that issue. also make sure you are using a genuine Mazda distributor. Aftermarket ones or remans don't seem to last as long. I have a friend who works at Mazda and that is what they say. Also have a friend that owns a 95 ford probe v6 and he has gone through 5 distributors, and when he put the Mazda one on he hasn't had an issue yet. hope that helps. sorry for sloppy typing.
the primary thing to look at in your situation is the ignition module; the conditions you described sound like it is bad. when it cools down... it works. this so, try replacing it, or there is a remidy using a GM 4pin module (actually 5, the fith is the mounting ground) that is outlined in mx3 website in the forums, and probetalk... hope this is helpful to set you in the right direction!
>>>My MX6 dies aftewr about 20 minutes driving. An electrical specialist diagnosed the ignition module in the distributor. When it gets hot, it fails.
I am an auto tech and have been working on a 98 mpv 3.0l and cannot seem to get a good aftermarket Distributor for it. I am on the 3rd one now. 2nd one came damaged because it wasnt boxed very good.( All the same brand)
The problem seems to happen after the diagnostic connector is grounded to check the timing. After that it seems to weaken something in the Distributor and the the car will only run for a minute or 2 until the dist. heats up then it stalls and won't start until it cools down. I have spoke to someone from the company tech line and he had no answer for me.
The customer does not have a lot of money to spend on this old vehicle but it looks like we will have to go to Mazda to get something that will last. Way too much junk out there these days.
Now I have to go figure out why my new carpet cleaner won't run. WHAT EVER HAPPENED TO QUALITY CONTROL !!!!!!!
How do I Replace a starter on grand am?
Disconnect batt. Follow pos batt cable to the end (that is the starter) Raise car. Remove from underneath. (2-3 bolts/2-3 wires + pos. batt cable)
How do you unlock the ignition when the key is stuck and the steering wheel will not turn?
WELL THE BEST THING TO DO WHILE THE KEY IS IN THE IGNITION IS TO REMOVE THE CYCLINDER IF ITS LIKE MOST VEHICLE THERE IS A PIN HOLE KEY CYCLINDER WITH A PAPER CLIP INSERT IT IN THE PIN HOLE TURN THE KEY AND REMOVE THE CYCLINDER IN SOME VEHICLE YOU HAVE TO REMOVE THE STEERING COLUMN COVER AND PUSH THE PIN IN AND REMOVE THE CYCLINDER WHICH EVERWAY YOU HAVE TO REMOVER THE CYCLINDER GOOD LUCK
What if your 2001 Monte Carlo died and it wont start back?
You would diagnose the problem and either fix it or scrap the vehicle.
