Is the votec 4.3 motor free wheeling if the timing chain brakes?

if the timing chain broke, your not going to see any rotation of the distributor rotor when the motor turns over. If it was running when the chain broke(likely), you probably have a few mashed valves and maybe piston damage also. A teardown is the only sure way to assess the damage. Sorry about your luck. :(

Where is the interior door light switch?

90% of them are on the body side of the door around the hinges

On interior doors in a residence. The best location is on the latch side and in the room you will be entering.

How do you check the vacuum lines?

Of course you can look for cracks, disconnected, or broken lines. Another good way it to use starter fluid. Start the engine and spray a slight amount of starter fluid on the vacuum hose connections. If there is a leak the engine will increase in revolutions. You can also use WD40 for this test, with similar results. If your car is over 10 years old, I suggest you replace all under-hood vacuum lines. Replace them one at a time as to not get confused. A very cheap repair.

Can you adjust the timing on a 95 5 7L 350 and how?

The timing can be adjusted on a '95 Chevy. You must locate the timing connector for the electronic spark control. It is behind the glove box. The connector should be only 1 wire. Unplug this connector and start the truck. The timing park will be attached to the timing cover on the drivers side of engine. There is a mark on the Harmonic balancer to point to the indicator on the timing cover. The timing sshould be set at 0 on this truck. 0 is the biggest v notch on the timing indicator. once timing is set, you should shut the engine off and reconnect the connector behind the glove box. Disconnect the battery for 60 seconds to clear the ignition code that will be in the computer.

When he says behind the glove box, he means under the hood on the firewall, sometimes this one wire connector is hidden under that black plastic shield by the a/c evaporater tank.

The Wire is most Commonly found behind the glove box inside the cab. It is usually light brown with a white trace or sometimes a black trace. the wire will loop out of the main harness and should be fairly visible, but sometimes it is taped up in the main wires so take a second and look carefully..

Fix sliding door 2002 Honda Odyssey?

I have a 2001 Honda Odyssey and have taken the van to the dealer to get the power door reset.... $50. There is apparently a breaker of some sort (not the electrical fuse) that causes the door to stop functioning if it has a problem opening or something causes it to stick when you try to open it. AVOID THE $50 CHARGE and the wasted time of having this "repaired". To reset, I tried both of these suggestions below at the same time. I found these elsewhere online... not sure which worked, but the door is working again without a trip to the mechanic. Posts elsewhere indicated that this worked on both 2000 and 2001 Honda Odyssey vans.

Suggestion #1

1.) Disable the power door switch on the left dashboard.

2.) Remove the power door fuses located under the front passenger leg area.

3.) Manually open and close both sliding doors.

4.) Restore the power door fuses located under the front passenger leg area.

5.) Enable the power door switch on the left dashboard.

6.) Try opening the sliding doors.

Suggestion #2

Remove fuse #13 (clock) for 30 seconds or more from the passenger side fusebox. This will reset the door and the clock.

Why would the front driver side wheel on a 1994 Chevy Caprice lean out?

That's what an alignment is for. Take it in to a good front end shop that does nothing else! Don't go to a dealer or a tire shop. They won't really be doing what's in your best interest, they just want to sell parts. A good front end shop will know how to make the repairs without spending a lot of your money, and they usually end up doing a better job.

Could also be a Ball Joint gone bad.

How do you turn off interior lights dome and floor in 1993 ford tempo 4 door?

Brand new battery on a 1994 Chevy astro van but it still wont start why?

Does it turn over? Does the starter crank? Why did you replace the battery? It takes 3 things for an engine to run, fuel, air and spark. If you replaced the battery let's assume you have spark, but do you have fuel? What I mean is are you getting fuel to the engine? Your question needs a little background info about why you replaced the battery first and what is going on now. Your description here is too vague to make a good diagnosis.

Your 98 firebird left turning signal is on but won't flash?

There's a good chance you have a blown bulb. You'll need to step out of your car with the flasher signal on and look at the front and rear lights to see which one isn't on. Remove the cover for the light that is not on and get a replacement bulb from your local automobile parts shop. Simply push in on the bulb and twist it to remove it.

1990 astro front all wheel drive not working no noise back is fine Help?

there are only two items to check here; transfer case, and the front differential. both expensive. To test, lift all four corners on jackstands, put vehicle into neutral, spin front tires and listen; ANY noises from front indicate bad front diff ($250 from boneyard). Next, to check transfer case;start engine/put into gear. An AWD unit 'floats' power to both front and back, like a diff. And are notorious for failure in two ways- one, they seize sending 100% to both axles, and will blow entire drivetrain. two is your symptoms, no power output to (front) axle. There are clutches inside...like a mini-bike!!! LOL AWD transfer cases are $$$$ ($800 & up At junkyards-$1400 new). I solved this problem by converting to 4X4. I swapped out parts from an old blazer s-10..(transfer case-4x4 shifter unit-front differential-front driveshaft- vacum parts/pieces. and it all BOLTED TOGETHER. driveshaft 's-10' had to be 4.5" longer.. had to 'modify' a brace under floorboard with hammer/torch for new transfer case to fit. that was 60,000 miles ago, without so much as a burp. good luck.

You were wondering why your 91 astro van's fuel pump won't work it was runing and it just stopped and the fuel pump won't work now the fuel pump is new so is there a fuse?

AnswerDid you try the fuel pump reset switch? It is located under the passenger side panel under the glove compartment. It is a black box with a red switch on top. At least it is on a 93 Aerostar. Good luck. I am having the same problem with mine.

**EDIT*** The switch this guy is talkign about (above) is the Fuel Inertia Switch. And it's specific to FORD only. In case you get into an accident, your fuel pump is shut off so you don't blow up.

How do you change the ignition coil on astro van 97?

Remove the dog-house, drill out the rivets holding the original ignition coil, replace coil using bolts or new rivets.

Before changing I would test it, not a common failed part. Though the distributor gear is a very common wear item on these vans, I would check that. Also might be cheaper to replace the distributor instead of just the gear.
