If it is "clicking" then it only leaves two things. Either the switch is bad or the motor. If you bypass the switch with jumper wires from a battery you can rule out the motor. Switch polarity to reverse direction. If that works then it is the switch. Hope that helps.
Where is the circuit breaker for power windows on a 1998 olds 88?
My olds 88 has a fuse for the power windows. I don't think it has a circuit breaker. The fuse box for mine on the lower dash panel just above my left knee. There are mostly "blade type" fuses but there are also two silver can type fuses and one of these two is for the power windows. ( I think the other one if for the power seats)
How do you replace window regulator in 2003 Chevy trailblazer rear passenger side?
To remove the regulator unit: 1. Pry off the small rectangular screw cover inside the door pull and remove two screws. Pry off the door handle trim and the window switch trim. The door panel is pried off with a stiff putty knife or similar tool. Remove the door panel. 2. Pull off the black rubber insulation. It is held on with a gooey rubber adhesive. 3. Place the window in the closed position and use masking tape to hold it in place. Loosen the two 10mm nuts on the window attachment clamps. Use a 10mm deep socket inserted through two 1" diameter access holes in the door frame. 4. Unplug the power wire from the motor and unhook the clips holding the regulator cable housings in place. Remove the three black screws and peel off the speaker to gain access to the lower screw attaching the regulator. (Don't poke a hole in the speaker foam cover). 5. Remove the three 10mm screws attaching the regulator to the door frame. The regulator should be loose now. Turn it slightly and remove it from the door. 6. I haven't replaced the unit yet, but the installation should be the reverse process. I'm sure some window adjustment will be necessary using the window clamps.

How do you repair power windows?
First check fuse. Then check switch by test light with power on this will mean if there is power to the swtch if not check wiring. if there is power in the wire. then replace switch. Then check wires. By volt meter. If wire damage repair or re place wire.
A common problem with a Lincoln Towne Car is the gear inside the power window motor fails. The sound that it normally makes when this problem exists is "Zoom, Zoom, Zoom, etc." when the switch is used in both directions. The gear will need to be replaced.
Check the wire harness for cracks in between the door opening, with time it brakes from closing/opening doors
Pour rubbing alcohol on the switch. It cleans the shumtz out and sometimes works.
Nervous about using rubbing alcohol? Try some contact cleaner (check Radio Shack). It won't fog styrene plastics like alcohol will.
With the key -off- (no power), spray the cleaner into the switch (careful of splashing in the eyes) and work the switch a bunch of times.
For the shade tree mechanic there is a heat sensitive circuit breaker in the motor that fails more often than the motor. Jump it out and put an external self resetting 10a breaker in the motor line
A method that somtimes works when you have a bad conecction is slamming the door. It is useful for when you need to close the window eg so people cannot break into your car. Not exactly a long term solution though.
What can be done to repair an 2000 Olds Alero dashboard cover that has begun to roll up and crinkle?
It depends on how bad it is. I would take it to an auto trim shop and get an estimate. If it is too bad the dash may have to be replaced which is a BIG job.

How do you change the electric motor you a 97 f150 power window?
if you take the door panel off, then the speaker out, then the plastic cover insulater, there should be 7 bolts with washers;undo those around the outside of the door. then the major panel will come off. two bolts hold the motor on. undo those and take the motor off the gears. then replace it with the new one and do the process in reverse.
The wiring harness that goes from the dashboard to the driver side door is the culprit most of the time. If you pull the rubber boot back, you will most likely find one or more of the wires in the harness has failed (broken or gotten cut).
AnswerThe child security lock got hit. Its on the back side of the door near the locking mechenism where if it is closed you cant get to it just flip it back. AnswerReplace the window switch(es). AnswerI'd check the window fuse in the fuse box, the wire connection itself for physical obstructions (ice, dirt or other debris) and finally the window motor. AnswerJust did my right rear on a 99 JGC. It needed lubrication. The window was stuck so that the motor could not turn. I suspect a weak motor so as not to cut peoples apendages off, but after a few years the track becomes dry and not condusive to passage of the window.
To cure I removed the mechanism inside the door (7 screws), and lubed using white lithium and silicon to grease the track , track arm to hold the window and the pulley mechanism which uses a wire and pully to move the window.
Once it was well lubed I placed it back in and she ran like greased lightning !
Good luck
Its usually the window switch i just had that same problem on my 1996 jeep i replaced the switch and it worked fine.

How do i fix Power window problem 1996 camaro?
You need to troubleshoot the problem---isolate what the cause is before you can fix the "problem." On a quiet street, turn your ignition on (no engine nor radio running is best.) and try to operate the window. Do you hear any noises? None, check power to unit. Grinding, check to make sure the motor gears and the window regulator are aligned. Some "whining sound, maybe a frozen motor or stripped gears.
If no action or noise, it could be something as simple as a blown fuse or a broken switch or as difficult as a blown motor. You can troubleshoot further by using a circuit tester or multimeter.

the window handle is held on with a c shaped ring that is placed on the handle then pushed onto a splined rod with a recess in it to hold it on there is a tool for this but usually it can be pushed off the handle with a screw driver placed between the door panel and the handle the hard part is seeing it to push on one or both ends of the "c" ring to reinstall you simply put it on first then push it in as for the window falling off you won't know what caused it till you get a look at it
Sometimes you can jar the brushes to make contact on the motors for ONLY ONE TIME. Hit the inside of the door about 6 inches from the bottom about equedistant from the front and rear with your fist pretty hard. Try this a couple of times and it may work. If not you have to get inside the door.
You can also use a small 12 volt battery like a lawnmorer or motorcycle battery You hook up some wires to the battery terminals .Remove the switch and on the inside you will see some contact points where the wires are hooked up. Just touch the wires from the battery and presto the window will go up or down you just have to see which contacts move the window in which direction. This works like a charm
How does one Repair a power window regulator on a 1992 ford crown Victoria?
This is not an easy job. The regulator can be purchased for a local parts store and you might want to consider replacing the motor also. Unhook the battery since you will be unplugging the wires to the locks, windows, speakers, trunk release and fuel door. You must remove the door panel and unplug all of the accessories. then you need to peel back the plastic that seals around the door. The speaker should then be removed. This will allow more access to the regulator and the motor. The motor is riveted to the door. So whether you replace the motor or not, it has to be removed also. The rivets can be drilled out with a good 1/4 drill bit. Once the two retainers at the top of the regulator and at the bottom are removed you can twist the regulator and remove it from the door. Remove the motor and place on new regulator or attach new motor to regulator. Once done place back in the door. Now the rivets are 1/4 inch and require a special gun to install. However you can use 1/4 bolts and get the same result. Feel free to email if I can be of any help.
Sorry, I do not have the definitive answer, but maybe my experience will be helpful. I was plagued with the same problem on the drivers side window, though more pronounced with going up. Waiting a few minutes or longer, it would go back up a few inches, then stop again. I repeated the process until window was finally up. I later discovered that if you "grasped" the window and assisted it, you would have much better success. As Murphy's Law would have it, failures occurred at an in-oppurtune time usually. So it was hard to test for 12 volts at the motor when it was failing. I came to the conclusion it had to be the motor, theorizing it was already weak or had a winding that was shorting and made it overheat, making it work at first, then fail. After trying to overhaul the motor, I eventually replaced it.
Hooray, it worked... for 3 or 4 months. Arrgh! It is exhibiting that exact same properties. I have read on another site about the possibility that the motor is fine, that real problem is in the lifting cables. They are somewhat like the hand brake cable of bicycle, where a flexible cable slides within a tubular shroud. If these cables are insufficiently lubricated, they may cause too much mechanical resistance for the motor to overcome. Also if the cable shroud is not firmly secured at either end, it may be absorbing the movement of cable as the motor winds the cables.
I find it hard to believe the motor itself has failed again, although anything is possible. The replacement motor I used was new from a auto parts store, not an actual OEM motor. Before I tear back into it, I'm thinking about contacting a Service Manager at a Chrysler dealership. Perhaps there is a service bulletin on this.
I had problem with motor not working on the up switch on drivers door. Replaced motor and cables. When you replace both be sure that you have window all the way down before you take off cables. If not you will have a major head ache trying to remove cables. It is very easy if you have window all the way down. Use your own judgment on how far you want it down to remove cables. Took me about 2 hours for everything. Be sure to tighten all things back up so window does not bind in rail.
