Fuel and Engines

We commonly relate fuel and engines with gasoline. Other engines also run on natural gas such as propane and “bio-fuels” such as ethanol. The principle remains the same as the fuel induces internal combustion.

What is the torque and tightening specs on 1999 4 0 ford engine overhead valve?

If you need the torque specs for every single bolt in that whole engine, that is a pretty tall order. Or are you just needing one particular part of the engine, like the head bolts?

Can petrol work in a diesel engine?

Why would your car die when idling?

You do not provide enough information for a good answer. It depends if it is Fuel Injected or not and other information. Possibly vacuum leak or idle speed too low.

What is the biggest engine you can put in a 1987 Chevy S-10 Truck?

You can put what ever you want under the hood, it all depends how big your wallet is.

Why is engine not starting?

The engine needs good battery power, fuel, compression and spark to start and run. You are missing at least one of those.

What should you do if you put too much oil in the engine and smoke is coming from the exhaust?

Too Much Oil in EngineHere are suggestions from FAQ Farmers:
  • Let some of the oil out from the pan and remeasure it and add enough oil to get it to the FULL position on the oil dip stick. Clean the dip stick with a clean rag before you insert it and measure it twice making sure that it is inserted corrctly.
  • Drain your oil. if you are using a lot of oil( a quart a week ). put in some 10-40 oil. if you don't use oil. put in 4 qaurts 10-30. let it sit and then check your dip stick(make sure it goes all the way in!) if you need more oil add a quart. run for a while -- let the engine sit for ten minutes -- check oil again . good luck .

Is your motor ruined if you used ether to start your 6.2 diesel engine?

A woman in your apartment building owns a new model Ford Explorer and revvs the engine for 5 minutes every morning did somebody tell her this was good to do or is it bad?

With a new engine (less than 1,000 miles) you only have to avoid running the motor at a constant speed for a prolonged period of time. There is no "break-in" or excess idling or revving required. She may not damage the engine by running it for 5 minutes every day like this, but she's wasting fuel and wearing the motor down i might add.

Is a small engine with a turbo a good idea?

Why not? Its mostly a question for ones self. If you are a big engine person that wants muscle and doesn't mind the massive fuel consumption then a small engine with a turbo is a bad idea. But if you don't like big engines that waste a lot of gas but hate the lack of power in a little 4 cylinder then by all means, a small engine with a turbo is a great idea.

How do you tell if a 2004 yz250f engine is blown?

1. if the engine will not turn over (the kickstart wont move) then it is siezed either top or bottom end. 2.if you start it up and you hear a loud clicking noise that is louder than normal then chances are that you snapped a valve and there will be no compression. 3.if you simply done have any power there are many possibilityes but the main cause would be you need new rings and or your valves need checked. both of these things would allow air to pass through and lessen your compression.

Can a Pontiac Fiero be made fast?

Answer 1: heck yes you name it, it can be done to a fiero Answer 2: No, not the four cylinder, not in any noticeable way. It was designed as a sporty economy car, and canny GM engineers already implemented any worthwhile performance perks. The crankshaft is too light to take any meaningful horsepower increase and the rear end won't handle the increased torque from a larger engine. You'd have to change both the engine and the rear end and then you wouldn't really have a Fiero. On the other hand, my '87 four cylinder will do 116mph, which is plenty enough to get you in trouble, gets 27mpg, looks good, and the handling is great. The 6 cylinder is plenty fast already, but yes, you can turbocharge it, supercharge it, nitrous inject it, drop in a small V8, whatever you want. Just remember it does no good to beef up your engine if your transmission can't handle the increased torque.

What causes a engine to crack?

Engine blocks can crack from many different reasons. Improper antifreeze ratio during freezing temperatures, internal engine component malfunctions (such as throwing a rod), etc.

If you just put a bigger cam in your car and when you took it to the track it was slower than last year can the problem be bad timing or something else?

A "bigger" cam without other engine mods like: Larger exhaust and intake system is a waste of money. While you had the engine apart did you port and polish the intakes? Did you do a valve job? Deck the head? Balance the per cylinder volume? Improve the flow characteristics in any way?

How do you replace the freeze plugs on the engine block?

lower your coolant level to below the plug that you will be working on.drive out the old one using punch and a hammer (have pliers handy) careful not to get it stuck and or drop too much metal shavings in to the engine (cooling system damage). clean the area/hole. drive in the new plug. use something to help you push the plug in evenly. ''THE NEW PLUG MUST BE THE SAME SIZE AS THE OLD ONE AND IT MUST BE INSTALLED PROPERLY AND GO IN EVENLY, FLUSH WITH ENGINE BLOCK''
