No minor thing you can do will really increase H.P. to any significant degree. Installing a supercharger would give you a significant increase.

This is rather involved and you need guidance and pictures. Get a manual on your car from the parts store or from AUTOBOOKSONLINE.COM

disconnect the battery, jack the car's front end up or put on a lift. locate the starter and remove the two bolts. then remove the two wires ,reconnect wires to starter,then lift starter and rebolt,reconnect battery and your on your way not a hard job a front end lift or auto lift sure does help

the thermostat is located where the top radiator hose attaches to the engine. there are three bolts that take off the water neck that the hose attaches to. remove those bolts, the thermostat is inside.

You may need to replace your idle air control it is near the throttle bottle maybe on the right side kind of under the throttle body it will have a wire that you need to disconect if you want to see a picture go to autozone. com and look it up then look for it where it said its an 86 so it may be worn take itvout clean it off it will be black just wipe it clean but don't spaybitvwithcwster because itvis an electric part hints the wire if that isn't it look at the mass airflow sensor a new one runs about $215.00 good luck

you can get a cold air intake some silver spark plug wires an upgraded coil pack or ignition coil whichever u have k&n air filters high performance fuel filter flowmaster exhaust system hollow out the converter and so forth just make sure once u reach a certain point you change out your rear end for a stronger rear end or you'll completely bust the guts

I would think the seat bottom is mounted by two clips, one at each side. Push the front of the seat bottom very very firmly down, then rearward, then up to release the clip.

With the seat bottom out, it will be easier to get the seatback out.

When you hit your brakes the pedal will stop and then after a second go further or

they might feel "mushy" like they have air in the lines and no matter how much you bleed the brakes it doesn't help.

there is a fusible link on the starter solenoid somewhere

At the bottom of the knob where it meets the shaft, on the side towards the dash, there is a pin which is shaped like a staple.

Use a small screwdriver to pry the pin out towards the dash, then pull the knob up while twisting it slightly back and forth.

mine does too. 99 malibu...seems like when it guts warmed up it seems to go. ONly had problem 2X where I thought it was not gonna go.

I have a 1996 Oldsmobile 88 and my fan stopped. While searching the internet I came across AUTOZONE.COM's Repair Site. It has a lot of info and diagrams. It mounts in the rear manifold at back of motor just after the 3 cylinders piping converges into the single outlet - there will be a silver cover on it and a wire (usually black that comes to a connector about 6 " away. You can use a wrench (about 1" size) or a specific tool to remove it. Do this with engine cold or the threads will risk being damaged. The new sensor comes with special beaded lubricant for thethreads on the O2 sensor. Be sure to use it BUT be careful not to get any on the sensor itself. The job can be bit aggravating but not too terribly difficult.

There are 2 horns on the 1997 Oldsmobile Silhouette. You must remove the headlight/ turn signal assemblies (2 thumbsrews to remove each one). You will find each horn in the space below the headlight.

It's in the fuel tank. Depressurize the fuel system, remove the tank, unplug the harnesses and hoses, and it should have a retaining ring that holds the assembly in the top of the tank. Highly recommend a manual and some penetrating oil.

1. Connect one end of the positive cable to the "dead" or low battery positive post. 2. Connect the opposite end of the positive cable to the positive post of the battery being used for jump starting. 3. Connect one end of the negative cable to the negative post of the battery being used to jump start. 4. Connect the opposite end of the negative cable to a good ground on the "disabled" vehicle.

Start the "good" vehicle and allow the "dead" battery to charge for 3-5 minutes. Start the "disabled" vehicle. If it doesn't start, allow to charge longer, then re-try. After the "disabled" vehcile starts, remove the cables in reverse order of connecting.

Certainly, this big-inch 1960s V8 engine was fairly thirsty by today's standards, but there weren't a lot of downsides it that I can recall. The 425 Olds was a fairly high compression engine which required premium fuel, and so it might not perform too well on today's unleaded pump gasoline. The horsepower reported in the 1960s up to 1971 was in the so-called "SAE Gross" rating, so it would be difficult to compare this engine with later models which use "SAE Net" rating. A general rule of thumb is that net horsepower is about 75-80 percent of gross horsepower. In case you don't know, the chief difference between this engine and the more common 455 Oldsmobile was the crankshaft. The 425 Olds had a stroke of 3.975 inches, while the later 455 had a stroke of 4.25 inches.
