Radiators

Radiates excess engine heat. Only used in liquid-cooled engines for obvious reasons.

Take it to a radiator shop or purchase a new one. I agree, and will go even farther. I would replace the radiator unless there was considerable savings in repairing it. The repair is only as good as the person doing it.

is your car equipped with a coolant overflow bottle replace thermostat have radd removed flushed and rodded

Remove and clean the petcock. Replace and if it still leaks, replace with a new petcock.

The easy way is to buy a flush kit from prestone ($7) and follow the directions. You will basically be splicing in a tee fitting that accepts your garden hose, and adding a can of flush to the cooling system. After 10 minutes of run time you will turn or the hose and 'backflush' the old coolant out the top of the radiator. Messy, but it works. I hope this helps you. Mark

When you drive the overflow is pressurized when the engine heats up. As it cools down, the engine will "drink" the anti-freeze out of the overflow reservoir. It is most likely making a sound like when you turn a milk jug upside down and let it drain? Chug, chug,...etc. A vacuum occurs in the overflow reservoir when the anti-freeze is taken back into the system and you are hearing the equalizing of pressures...like a milk jug.

the radiator is the same for automatic trans. and manuel trans. you dont use the inflow pipes ( transmission cooler ) for manuel trans. but two hoses r used if vehicle has auto. trans. to cool trans. fluid. it is ok to leave pipes open for manuel trans. as its not used

On/Off valves in radiators turned off or clogged Another possibility is an air bubble in the loop that services the radiators that are not heating. Correction is to bleed the loop.

You should drain radiator and then add a proper 50/50 mixture.

If there is no drain valve at the radiator you can drain the system at the drain valve on the boiler

Open the radiator petcock and drain coolant into a container. Dispose of all coolant properly as it is toxic to animals. Close petcock and fill system with water. Run the engine for several minutes with the heat on high. Drain the system again. Several repeats of this procedure will flush the radiator and engine for the Firebird.

It is a plastic screw on the bottom , front of the radiator on the drivers side. A quarter turn counterclockwise and then pull it out. Don't do it when the cars hot.

Ummmm, Radiator fans run off a temperature switch. Sometimes they put the fan switch and sender for the gauge together so I suppose it could be related. Have you checked to see if the wires are unplugged? Just a thought.

A leak in a coolant system can usually be fixed by replacing a hose. If the leak is at the end of the hose, a new clamp might be necessary. If the radiator is leaking, the radiator might need to be replaced.

Every five years or 100K miles.

Caution:On models equipped with Delco-Loc 2 or Theftlock audio systems make sure you have activation code * Disconnect the negative battery cable * Drain the cooling system * Disable the airbag system.Disconnect the forward discriminating sensor harness from the front fenderwell.It may be necessary to remove the hood latch mechanism in conjunction with the airbag sensor and secure them together and out of the way during the radiator removal * Remove the cooling fan assembly * Disconnect the upper and lower radiator hoses from the radiator then disconnect the coolant recovery hoses at the radiator neck * Remove the automatic transaxle cooler lines if equipped from the left tank of the radiator * Remove the hood latch support from the upper tie bar on the front of the engine compartment * Remove the right and left headlight assemblies from the vehicle * Remove the condensar mounting bolts from the radiator assembly * Remove the tie bar (crossbeam) from the engine compartment * The radiator can be removed from the top with some wiggling to clear various components

take 10 liter of distlk water and add 100 gms ethelyene glycol in it mix it throughly and it is ready

If standing in front of the car. Bottom left corner you will see a black knob like a stove nob. It drains slow as hell tho. It is below and to the left of the cooling fans.

It could be the radiator, hoses, fuel pump or an engine gasket. All of those components just "give out" with time.

Remove rad shroud, remove fan clutch, remove trans cooler lines, ( use a flare nut wrench to avoid stripping the hex) remove the rad brackets then top and lower hose ends. Reverse.Make sure to fill and bleed the cooling system when done. Run vehicle at idle for 30 minutes with the rad cap off to bleed air out of system.

Blown head gasket is a distinct possibility, unless you just flushed and changed the coolant. In that case it is trapped air escaping.

Buy a kit at Wal-Mart or auto parts store comes with instructions and adaptors

It will be best for you to buy a Haynes Manual at a parts house or bookstore. It will give you full details and pictures. They have them that are specific to your car so you are not buying information on something you do not need.
