Radiators

First of all I think you are confused. The engine oil is not cooled directly by a cooler. The engine its self is cooled by a cooling system. Which uses coolant and a radiator. Coolant travels through the radiator and is cooled by a combination of factors. There are air dams or cowls that gather moving air and direct it through the fins on the radiator. ther is a fan that is temperature sensitive that comes on and blows air across the fins. Most always, there are transmission coolers built into the radiator, but kept separate from the coolant to prevent the fluid from getting too hot and damaging the transmission. On some radiators there are oil coolers built into the radiator to help cool the oil much like the transmission coolers serve.

facing the engine, look down on your left side. there is space to turn the plug. if you have an electric fan then it's real easy to see from the top. if you have a fan and shroud then raise the car and look underneath. it's easy to see. I've got a 1994 Cougar and learning stuff all the time.

According to the gates manual i read there is a petcock located on the bottom of the radiator that requires a wrench to open from the diagram in the book, it also states that you should remove the upper radiator hose during drainage as to help to speed up the process.

facing the truck there is a petcock on the radiator it's located on the bottom of the driver's side .It has a small piece of plastic hose on it . you might be able to get it out by removing the plastic shroud below the radiator . it's kind of hard to get at

1: Buy a kit at Wal-Mart or auto parts comes with adaptors, fittings and instructions. 2: remove radiator cap, open drain plug on bottom of radiator, your engine block will also have a drain bolt, open this too - let it all drain out - remove reservoir and empty it. fill back up with normal water - add any flushers etc, let circulate (i.e. top radiator hose is hot) and repeat emptying it, refill with coolant mixed with water in desired ratio - let it circulate - check levels and top up

Great innovation!! The did not install the plug in the OE model. You will have to pay extra at a service center to get the radiator plug installed. It cost about $5.89 at NAPA and the service charge will be the cost of removing and installing a radiator!

did you check the heater core because my truck did that and that was what was wrong

you will find two plastic tank under the hood. the smaller one is for windshield wiper fluid. it should be clear marked on the cap with a wiper icon. the bigger one is for the antifreeze, you will see a max and mini line on the side..

if the temp get hot when you let engine idel for long period time .and when you take ovf the cap look inside you see alot of white crud in it

Drain plug for coolant is at the lower left corner of the radiator, facing backward toward the engine. The area is almost inaccessible to ordinary tools due to the cross-car beam immediately behind it, air conditioning piping nearby and the lip of the radiator retainer structure that is part of the front assembly (known in the industry as a grille opening reinforcement, or GOR). The plug is a small plastic insert with a flat tab. Be wary of this! The plugs often seize and the tab can be broken off far too easily. Some shade-tree mechanics avoid messing with the drain plugs at all, preferring to remove the lower radiator hose instead.

If you have replaced the water pump then flush the radiator with CLR also check to see if the fan is working properly.

On the bottom or side of the radiator.

you may have to remove the air dam located under the rad and a/c condensor. the drain tap is inthe lower left corner of the rad. I did attempt to open the tap with a 1/4 drive ratchet and 3 inch extension and failed in the effort from the shape of the tap it appears to require a special tool. I am going to question my SnapOn tool rep at first opportunity.

I really don't understand what you are asking. Anti-freeze is leaking because you have a leak. But you already know that. If you are smelling coolant at the exhaust, then STOP driving this vehicle. You have a blown head gasket or a cracked head, or both. Serious engine damage will occur if you continue to drive it. Anti-Freeze smells sweet.

When facing the front of the Mercury Mountaineer, the drain plug is on the lower left of the radiator. Place a bucket under the drain plug spigot before loosening to catch the coolant. To empty the radiator, turn the drain plug three-quarters of a turn. Tighten the drain plug before re-filling with coolant.

Just check your overflow container after a few days, if there is any air in the system it should work it's way out and just bubble in the overflow tank. If you see the tank level drop and you don't have any leaks, then there was some air. It is not a major concern.

The 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier radiator drain petcock is located on the bottom of the radiator. The drain will be towards the right side of the radiator.

Mr Coffee is one of the easiest brand on the market. All you need to do is push a button. The makers say they designed it for the elderly so they wouldn't have any complications in using it.

It should be on the lowest run of piping on one of the downstairs radiators. Or you can just drain the system from one of the downstairs valves (carefully). Or it might be behind the fridge, that's where I found my tape measure.

I worked for about three years at my Dad's radiator shop back in the 80's and installed many radiators. It's easy to get the air out of your cooling system as long as you don't have a leak somewhere.

While the engine is cold take off the radiator cap and make sure radiator is full of water and antifreeze. Start engine and wait about 10 minutes for your engine to heat up enough to engage the thermostat. You will know when it happens because you will see the radiator's water disappear from the top portion of the radiator. Once that happens, top off the radiator with water and antifreeze and replace top before turning off the engine. Never remove a radiator cap while the engine is hot, I've seen people scalded from doing so.

This is for the V6 Lincoln ls. From expirience I had to change my fan and convert it to an electric fan seeing how expensive it is to replace the hydraulic pump. To remove the fan you must remove the intake and any plugs that are connected to the intake pipe. Then unbolt the A/C overflow. Then you must remove the top flow pipe for the radiator to get to the top bolt of the radiator fan. Now remove both top bolts from both sides and the fan is now only being held by the hydraulic fan lines. I unbolted both hydraulic lines and pulled the fan out side ways. And that's how I removed my radiator fan. Took an average handy man 2 1/2 hrs with the proper tools and a plan out first.
