Is it safe to drive with a cracked radiator?
Carefully monitor the temperature gauge and top of with coolant and water then short distance and slow driving may be. Long and hilly road may be a problem. Bring extra 2-3 gallon of water in case the radiator overheated. Coolant may cost $6-$9/gallon. New radiator starting from $70. So do the math and see which way is more economical to resolve.
Or Temporarily Fix:
== * Ground black pepper * Duct tape Step 1:
Find the location of the leak and decide how bad it is. If the leak is coming from hose, patch it with duct tape. It will hold for about a week or until you can get a replacement hose. If coolant is gushing out of the radiator and there's a big puddle around your car, rethink going to work. Step 2:
Remove the radiator cap and add about a teaspoon or two of ground black pepper, if the leak is in the radiator itself. The pepper lodges in the hole and swells when the water hits it, expanding to fill the hole. Step 3:
Close the radiator cap and fill the overflow container to the proper level. Step 4:
Bring extra pepper in the car with you, as well as a jug or two of water. You may have to add additional pepper or water to the radiator. Make certain that it is cool before removing the cap. Step 5:
Schedule an appointment with your mechanic if necessary. Be certain to tell him what temporary measures you took.

Can you add water to a radiator?
Check the owners manual for your car. Older cars run water only, middle aged cars run 50% water and 50% anti freeze and newer cars run 100% anti freeze. Once you know what you car requires just wait until you engine is cold, take off the radiator cap or the the fill cap of the plastic overflow container and add to the full line on the container.
The above answer is totally incorrect, and you should ignore it. The person that posted this does not know what they are talking about. Older cars do not run pure water and newer cars do not run pure anti-freeze. All vehicles require a 50/50 mix of antifreeze and distilled water. In extremely cold climates a 60/40 mix may be necessary. Running pure water or pure anti-freeze are both ansking for trouble. Pure water provides no protection whatsoever. And pure anti-freeze will freeze at a higher temperature than a mix.
What causes a radiator leak in kia carnival 2000 model?
several answer for this problem. 1. radiator has hole in it. 2.Old high mileage radiator just needs to be replaced. 3.Radiator cap malfunctioning, making it look like radiator is leaking. 4. Heater/radiator hoses laeking. 5.Remember all radiators operate above the boiling point of water under pressure,so if there is a weak spot in radiator or hoses its gonna leak.Antifreeze does a much better job under pressure for this task, not only to prevent freezing in winter, but stops corrosion too.The point is let it cool off before working on radiator or its components. You can get nasty steam /hot antifreeze burns, so cool off first. 6. hope this helps you out.

Another solutiuon would be to take it to a radiator shop where they will dip it to clean the inside well, then repair the seams.
