How do you put serpentine belt on freightliner?

If the old belt is still being used,a wise thing to do is draw a picture of how it wraps around the pulley's because it can go on many different ways but it will only fit one way. You can be there for a long time trying to figure it out. To replace it, you need a 1/2" drive ratchet. There is a square hole in the automatic tensioner which is close to the alternator on the front.Put the ratchet in this hole and release the pressure on the tensioner. Be careful not to allow the spring pressure snap back the ratchet handle onto your knuckles!!! While either holding the ratchet or have it against something solid, just remove the belt, feed the new one on the same way and then gently release the ratchet. Make sure the belt is fully on each pulley before you start the engine.

How do you loosen the serpentine belt tensioner on a 2002 Nissan Altima to replace the belt?

Most cars and trucks today have what is called a serpentine belt which runs most accessories. They are very dependable and usually easy to replace. To decide if your belt needs replacing, simply look at the grooved side of the belt to see if it is cracking badly. A couple of cracks every 3 inches is normal, but if you see cracks every 1-2 inches I would recommend that you replace it. On most cars and trucks the procedure is basically the same. First off, get the correct belt by bringing your cars VIN number to the parts store(located on your cars dashboard) the parts store may need it. If there are two choices, get them both so you can complete the repair. Once you have the correct belt, take a minute to review how the belt runs across the pulleys and also check to see if your car/ truck has a underhood diagram of belt routing in case you need it. In most cases you will need a socket wrench or breaker bar with either a 3/8" and /or 1/2" head on it and possibly a short extension. Some models may require a wrench of these similar sizes. Now that you are ready to go to work, you will need to find the spring loaded tensioner which is generally located near the top of the belt path; it usually has a shinny pulley on it. Look at the tensioner and insert the tool into it and apply opposing pressure to release the belt. Now, simply install the new belt making sure it fits into the grooves on all the pulleys. Start the car to check it and you are done and you saved yourelf some money!

How do you change a 3 prong dryer to a 4 prong dryer?

Answer for USA, Canada and countries running a 60 Hertz supply service.Dryer plug three to four

First and foremost turn the breaker off that supplies the dryer receptacle with its supply voltage. Instructions should come with the new cord. Open up the electrical access panel on the back of the dryer. You will see a terminal block with three wires going into it from the plug cord assembly. A red and black and white are now connected to the terminal strip. Look at the position and colours of the existing 3 prong cord and how it is connected. Make a diagram. Coloured wires on the outside terminals white in the center. From the center wire terminal you will see a jumper strap that goes to the frame of the dryer. When installing the four prong plug this jumper is removed completely. The kit should have with it a grounding lug that connects to where the removed grounding strip attached to the frame of the dryer. This is the attachment point for the fourth green ground wire from the new dryer cord assembly. Before you do any work yourself,

on electrical circuits, equipment or appliances,

always use a test meter to ensure the circuit is, in fact, de-energized

Show the routing diagram of the serpentine belt of an '95 Cadillac DeVille?

the library has chilton repair manuals,i just copy the page, pages that i need for .10 cents a copy There is a diagram above the passenger front tire under the hood that shows you the routing direction for the serpentine belt. Clean it off so you can read it. You will need a 1/2 drive wrench to loosen slack on wheel tension assembly. mine didn't match the diagram under the hood exactly...one of the pullies was in the wrong place in the diagram..and it made the belt too big...i unfortunately didn't get the chance to take it off myself as the belt broke due to a bad idler pully. the correct path is (from top right clockwise)over the poer steering pump..straight down and under the compressor..back up and over the water pump..back down under the egine pully, up and aorund the right side of the idler pully...up and over the top left pully...then under the adjuster pully. if you stick a 1/2 drive in the square hole in the adjust pully arm..and pull it up and toawrad the front of the engine...it makes it easy to put the belt on...i put mine over the power steering pully last...as it's easiest for me. this is for devilles with 4.9 liter

Is this normal '95 Chevy Cavalier has been squeaking a lot so sprayed some belt dressing on the serpentine belt and it flew off but there are no cracks in it?

== == This typically is normal but not desired. The bottle might say to spray the dressing while the car is idling but its best to spray it during belt changes or at least be careful just to spray it a little at a time and just on the ridges of the pulleys, not the belt itself or the bolts of the pulleys. If you spray it too much or on the pulleys it makes the tension adjust in the bolts on the pulleys kinda like "unseize" spray for spark plugs, and then quickly tightens it to improve grip, and as a result your belt might pop off. Just be careful.

How do you change the shocks on a Ford Taurus - Mercury Sable?

"Shocks"...

The Taurus/Sables use McPherson struts on the front suspension - which is basically a shock/coil spring assembly.

Rear suspension on the other hand... Station wagon models use a separate shock & coil spring design. Sedans use McPherson struts.

Many people continue to use the two terms in describing the same thing.

All this is intended to help sort out the sometimes very confusing terminology.

See "Related Questions" below for specific instructions for front and rear shocks/struts.

How often do you change a serpentine belt?

You only need to replace any belt when it is worn past its useful life. Look for signs of cracking across the width of the belt on the "grooved" side, as well as any signs of fraying along its edges. It should also be replaced if contaminated with fluid, like oil, antifreeze, etc.

Hope this helps you!

How do you get rid of a squeak from a 1999 Chevy Blazer serpentine belt?

If it has antifreeze on it you may have to replace it. I have shot some WD40 on MANY serp belts and had good luck. This will NOT hurt the belt regardless of what many 'experts' may say. Over the years I've had similar problems, both with conventional "v" belts and serpentine belts. In the "old days," rubbing "bar" soap on the belt[s] would do the job. Do NOT ATTEMPT to do this with the engine running. Be certain the engine is OFF, and I suggest, ALSO COOL to eleminate the potential for burns to hands or arms. I don't know exactly how it works, but I suspect that the soap acts as a lubricant. Also, I have had success by removing and reinstalling the serpentine belt, "reversing" it so that it travels in the opposite direction. As indicated in answer 1, WD-40 also has worked for me.j3h.

How can you figure out what causes the belts to squeak on a 1986 Pontiac fiero?

When the squeak changes you know what belt

Change the belt

Buy a good brand name belt, I recomend:

  • The best alternator belt is a Goodyear Gator-back
  • The AC belt should be a Dayco or similar toothed V belt, But NOT a Goodyear Gator back.

Take the time and care to adjust exactly as recommended by the belt manufacturer.

How do you route the serpentine belt on a 1996 Chevy S 10 pickup?

Check under the hood on the fan cover there is usually a diagram located here you could also check a "Chilton" manual for this diagram if it is not under your hood. I have taken these on and off several times once you get the hang of it, it seems pretty easy. sometimes you will need someone to help you pry the tension pulley using a socket/wrench with a cheaterbar. Good Luck!
